Well this was partially my fault. I had to get a car QUICK. I hadnt bought a car for a long time, and I just thought Id go to CarMax and plunk down a few thousand and get a decent car. That may sound insane to some, but thats exactly what CarMax USED to be like, years ago. I was shocked when I walked in and saw that there was nothing under 10K in the store, and even 10K was really scraping the bottom of the barrel. Long story short, I got a salesguy, who was nice, but he really just didnt know what the hell he was doing. I bought the first car I thought I could afford. A 2006 G6 with 44K miles on it for well over 12 thousand dollars. With the financing they offered (and my credit is good!) it ended up being another couple thousand. Plus they wont let you drive the car unescorted, and you cannot take it to a mechanic to have it checked out first. You have to buy the car and then have a window of time to return it. But any good dealership would offer the same thing, if you ask and they put it in writing. I also cringed when I saw a Ford Focus in the showroom,(where the good cars are!)after I had already signed the contract for the G6, that I had completely missed! For less than I was paying for the G6 and less miles! I could have kicked myself! I just felt totally cornered into sticking with my bad decision, which was stupid I know. Really stupid. I would never make this mistake again and Im glad I learned something about not being so freaking desperate when making a big purchase. The next day, sanity prevailed, Thank GOD! Literally! And I brought the car back. You do have a week or something like that to make up your mind. Im glad the sales guy wasnt there because I actually felt bad for him. I then went to Haggerty Pontiac in Villa Park and bouth a 2007 G6 for 10,000 with 33,000 miles on it, and the financing was ridiculously low. Practically nothing, and I paid it all of in 6 months. I dont know what the hell happened to CarMax. There no haggle price was supposed to benefit consumers. At one time it did. Plus, it really was a place where you could buy a decent car for a few thousand bucks. Maybe you can still get good deals there, if you know what you are doing, but Id just as soon go to a reputable car dealer, that lets you drive the car around unescorted, and take it to a mechanic to check it out first without buying it. Bottom line is I am very happy with my purchase from Haggerty, and Im glad I had the conviction to return the car the next day. If I didnt I dont think I could have lived with myself!

I purchased a 2009 Mini convertible 2 weeks ago from your Hillside, IL location. Within 2 days I found several things wring with the car. Things that should have been caught in inspection. The seat belts didnt retract, interior roof panel that was popped out of place, the aux jack and Bluetooth didnt work, the passenger door handle was broken & wouldnt open. I brought the car back in a and service has had the car ever since. While trying to fix the Bluetooth, they discovered that the car has EXTENSIVE WATER DAMAGE. Your rep called me today after all of this and told me they wouldnt be giving get my car back to me. There is an identical car, same year, same package, nearby. Its 20k miles and is $2k more. The car I originally bought was 37k. The only others in the country are around 70k miles for the same price as mine. It is not an equitable customer experience to put a buyer through all this ridiculousness with such a terrible outcome, then tell them theyll have to pay another $2000 to get a comparable car back or pay the same for a car with 2 to 3 times the miles. Your Hillside location said they would not make a concession on the price at all. NO CONCESSION FOR SELLING A CAR WITH A LAUNDRY LIST OF PROBLEMS THAT THEY ADMIT NEVER SHOULD HAVE BEEN SOLD, THAT I WAITED 2 WEEKS TO GET BACK, AND NOW I HAVE TO SPEND TOMORROW (1 DAY) FINDING A REPLACEMENT VEHICLE. WHAT THE EFF??? This is the third car Ive purchased from this location. It will be the last. Ill spend whats left of my weekend sharing my experience in social media and filing complaints with the BBC and Attorney Generals office. Im sure thatll be worth the 2 grand you couldnt be bothered with to do right by a repeat customers after such an irresponsibly bad sale.

I had a specific car model that I like and had been searching through all the inventories of dealers in town. NONE of them met my expectation in terms of customer service or the quality of the car in general. After all the trouble of looking around and going to different dealers, I landed on a listing of the car I like on the Carmax website and the description of the specs looked fantastic! so I decided to go into the store and take a look. Walked in, was greeted and the sales representative assisted me right away ! The sales representative Joyce Love was fantastic, she was very kind and seemed very enthusiastic about her job. She was patient, friendly and explained all the policy and terms , pricing etc, very thoroughly. If you ever go to this Carmax location, I highly recommend Joyce Love. Carmaxs policy is great and they offer phenomenal warranty packages for your vehicle in my opinion. buying a used car is always a hassle , but with CarMax, it was very easy, fast, and they have the BEST customer service comparing to all the auto dealers I have experienced with (including high-end ones). Most importantly, they are trustworthy . Note : I dont have any affiliation with carmax, I am just putting my honest opinion out there.

My overall experience with CarMax was very good, and I wound up with the car I wanted at what I believe is a pretty good price. However, there is one thing Id like the company to change. Ive had friends who just showed up at CarMax and shopped, and that to me seems a better approach than the one I took. I made reservations to visit the lot, was contacted by CarMax salespeople to confirm and then visited. The first two or three times I did this, the sales people did not bother to show for the appointment! One of the guys was Mark Gant and the other Ryan L. Jones. Im extremely disappointed in both of you! If I ran my business the way those salespeople ran theirs, Id be OUT of business. Finally, a young guy named Evan at Hillside took over, showed me the car I wanted and I told him, "I want to buy from you, not the dudes who blew me and couldnt even be bothered to show up for the appointment. You at least do what you say youre going to do." And then I did buy from him. End of story. Jefferson

Even though we went on July 3 to get an appraisal of a car we wanted to sell, and the staff was very busy, each step took less time than we were told it would. Everyone with whom we dealt was very respectful of our time, gave accurate estimates of how long each step would take, and answered all of our questions. The estimate we were given for the car was well-explained and very fair, so we sold the car to CarMax. While we were waiting, we looked around the showroom and were very impressed with the selection of cars CarMax offers. I hadnt been to CarMax in about 15 years, and was not happy with my experience that time at this same location. I was reluctant to follow a friends advice to take my car to CarMax, but Im glad I did. I am very favorably impressed with the efficiency, expertise and customer service training of the staff, as well as the large selection of cars they offer. I would definitely return to CarMax in the future.
