I have been buying from, and referring people, to this store for 30 years and have always been happy with Delicious Creations, until my recent visit. I have often used my credit card, but never paid attention to the must spend over $10. rule. On this visit, I had only planned to purchase a couple of cookie cutters, and I had no cash. I simply asked nicely about the policy, not argued about it, after I noticed the sign on the door. Sue snapped at me that it has always been the policy and it is not illegal. I told her that I was not arguing with her, to which she replied that she was still upset from another customer disputing her policy. She was not nice at all, before she went to the back room for the rest of my visit. My 6 yr old granddaughter kept asking me why the lady was mad at me, while I continued to shop. A man behind the counter, stood eating a bag of chips, glaring at me the entire time I tried to find things to raise my total to where I could use my credit card. I mentioned to him, as I was leaving, that I couldnt find anything else to add to my order, and how it was a shame that I traveled a distance and had to leave empty handed; again, not asking for special treatment, simply making a statement. To which he very sarcastically said, "And, I came from Mokena.", which happens to be farther than I had come. Taken by his attitude, I told him how the difference was that I was a long time customer and not an employee. He popped another chip in his mouth and shrugged his shoulders, with an "Oh, well. Too bad" attitude. No good bye, or sorry, but thanks for coming in anyway. When I got home, I called and talked to Sue. She apologized, but in a very condescending manner, while trying to give me a lesson in "mom & pop" business. Let me make it clear that I never asked them to make an exception to their policy, although it could have reasonably been expected one time in good faith to a long time customer. My comments were simply comments from me being disappointed, and not rude or confrontational. After talking to Sue on the phone, I decided that someone who would rather embarrass than appreciate a good customer, does not deserve a good customer. I will never shop, or refer people to Delicious Creations again. Fyi: I have a degree in small business mgt., so I understand how mom & pops work, as well as the importance of loyal customers.

My best friend and I have been going here for years buying our supplies from Sue! I love making cakes and cookies and my friend is a big candy maker. I probably stumbled upon this little hidden gem about 10 years ago and make about 2 trips a month. They always have everything I need and Sue is constantly showing me new and creative ways to make things. Ive always wanted to open by own business but have never been bold enough to take the leap. Shes always giving me little pointers on pricing, baking, etc. They have every cake supply I could need and their cookie cutter wall is amazing, so many to choose from. My best friend has huge containers filled with all of the candy molds shes purchased there throughout the years. When you walk in, youll be very surprised. An entire WALL of their store is COVERED with candy molds. They have a candy mold for every theme possible. Additionally, when I read some of the reviews below I was very surprised. As a long time customer of Delicious Creations I have NEVER been treated poorly, to be completely honest Sue and her employees are beyond helpful. Theyre always laughing and having a good time - they love what they do. One review in particular left me feeling outraged. As I mentioned, my best friend(Brenda) and I have been going here for years. Brenda and her daughter are both "women of color" as one of the other reviewers said and have never been treated any differently than I. Brenda and I adore Sue and her shop. Weve never seen any of her employees treat anyone poorly. Weve seem them bend over backwards for customers and do it with a smile. Some people can be impossible to please and it sounds like these reviewers are some of those people. I will definitely be a customer of Delicious Creations forever. This place is one of a kind, no other shop compares.

Delicious, yes! However, I ordered a baby shower cake with them last week, and the girl who took my order and I spoke in detail about what I wanted, going over a photo they had of the cake, and she even repeated to me my requests. She said she would explain it all to the cake maker. I showed up to pick up the cake, and the following items were incorrect: I ordered a 2 tier cake, I got a 1 tiered; fringe icing was supposed to be multicolred, it was only white; the icing in the picture was deep blue, it was so light blue that it almost looked white; I asked for a topper of a sleeping baby in a gown on top, I got a naked baby instead! So far, I can live with this--it rates maybe 3 stars, at worst. However, today I emailed the bakery to let them know of these errors (I didnt tell them at the time because I had to leave work to pick up the cake due to their hours of business and didnt have time to explain.). I received a voicemail from the owner as a response--it was rude and accusatory. I did not ask for any refund, but I thought maybe some apology would be nice--all I got was accused. The owner told me that I got everything I ordered and that I am wrong about what I think I ordered. Additionally, I was berated for accidentally using the word "layer", as in "2 layered cake", instead of "tier"; also for not realizing that the price I paid was too cheap to have been a 2 tiered cake. I am not a cake expert! I am a teacher! This was a horrible experience--even though the cake was yummy, it wasnt worth the rudeness and errors.

Im giving her a 1 star because this is honest feedback. I understand that business owners are at the mercy of their customers but they should also understand that customer service and good quality product goes a long way. With that being said, the owner is so freaking rude and so is her cashier. The place is also filthy and very unorganized. Too much clutter. I cant understand why this place is so dirty. I ordered a red velvet cake once and it was so dry. It tasted like she add too much oil. I wanted to give her the benefit of the doubt so I ordered a smaller cake (a barbie cake for my daughter) and yet again it was so dry and over baked. She seems to give certain customers certain preferential treatment. That alone sickens me. Her CONSTANT rebuttal is that she has been in business for 30 years. I do not believe that and if that is the case, Sues negative and bipolar attitude will be the downfall of her business and she will not be in business for another 5 years. 30 years ago social media did not exist. All it takes is for a couple of millennials to post a snapchat or post a picture on fb to put you out of business. Definitely will NOT be coming back. Invest in a couple of dollars more and order from Webers Bakery. They surpass all Chicagoland bakeries because quality and customer service are their main priorities!
