I was forced to move to Walgreens as a pharmacy because CVS is no longer in contract with my insurance. I am for sure no longer using this particular location after yesterday! I had to get an in between refill worth a week of pills to not run out of my medication (a controlled substance) because of a vacation. The person there refused to honor the refill taking as an excuse that the fact that the refill was too early insurance wont cover it before the next week and that the fact that it is a controlled substance they could not release it! I know this is simply a lie i have gotten vacation overrides several times while using CVS, all it takes is for the pharmacist to call my doctor and double check and insurance always worked with me in these cases. I tried to insist but the person was not willing to get out of her confort zone and kept repeating the same thing! I ended up going to CVS even though my insurance do not work with them anymore for them to release the refill for me and i explained the situation to them. Since it was only a week supply i decided to pay out of pocket with a good Rx coupon that they accepted to honor even though they do not normally do for these controlled substances (they know me since i had been a customer there for a while before having to go and they know i get vacation overrides several times a year and that i have always been responsible with my prescriptions). I ended up paying only $25 (instead of my regular copay of $10) so not that much more than i would normally have because Walgreens refused to do it for me! I really hope that CVS gets back into contract with BCBS sometimes soon this year because i freaking hate Walgreens. I am going to try Jewel osco in the midtime but i am not going back there, i was basically forced to spend more money than i should have because they refused to follow a simple procedure!

Very poor pharmacy where they make frequent mistakes and are seldom, if ever, apologetic. They lose our insurance info in their system on the average of once a month. Often, after promising a prescription at a given time, they dont have it ready. Last week, had to go up their three times to get an emergency refill and they couldnt fill it because their computers were down. Instead of admitting the outage had been for several days, they just kept saying, "Stop by later today." Sheesh.
