Great independent bookstore. Unlike Amazon and the big box stores, it lets educated people make their own decisions about what they should read. It doesnt censor like Amazon, Walmart, etc. If they dont have it, they happily order it for you. They encourage browsing. The staff reviews books and their reviews are posted conspicuously. Great travel section in basement, fantastic cooking section, LGBT section--which reflects the neighborhood. They are actively involved with Nettelhorst public school across the street. They are active members of the communtiy. Your money spent there impacts the local community, rather than a bunch of nameless, faceless investors in New Jersey, or California. Buy local. Support your friendly, neighborhood bookstore!

This is not a bookstore but a propaganda trap. On the front entrance you will find a collection of "RESIST" books, including "Rules for Radicals" as well as books written by terrorist, Bill Aryes. What was even worse, was the propaganda childrens books such as "A is for activist", which features a fist on the cover. Also shown in the storefront was Annie the Feminist, geared toward elementary aged children. I have been to hundreds of bookstores, and never have I seen such anti-American, pro communist propagnda covering the entire front of the store. It is frightening as well as deeply disturbing seeing this type of literature in my own neighborhood.

Small nook in the wall bookstore in the Lakeview? neighborhood. I could tell this store has been in business for awhile, and is a part of the community. I imagine there are book-loving regulars that frequent the place often. The small size felt a little cramped, and there was not really any place to sit and read. Magazine selection was OK, not great. Book selection was vast and seemed to be curated nicely. The shelves felt a little cluttered, but they were organized. I would shop here again, but I wish it were a little more welcoming, shelves were touched up, and had a space to relax.

So, last week we wandered into this store just out of curiosity. I have NEVER been more impressed by a bookstore. It has the best cultivated selection of books that I have ever seen. Its not a huge store, but clearly, someone has gone through and carefully selected every book on the shelf, leaving just an amazing variety of the books I want to read and the books that everyone should read. We found several fairly uncommon books that wed been looking for for a while. Greatest random wandering Ive had for a while and I know where Im bringing everyone who comes to visit from now on.

This bookstore is very well-organized and has a good selection of books (this is me passive-aggressively complaining about those "hipster" bookstores that just have books strewn everywhere and expect you to browse for 2 hours in order to find that book youre looking for -- this bookstore is not one of those places, thank goodness). I think theyre missing a few key books in the fantasy and science fiction sections, but the staff was really nice to me and there are good deals here. The personalized recommendations were also really helpful.

I love the feel of this locally owned book store. The owner, Ed, and his staff handwrite suggestions for books which are scattered throughout the shelves. Their sale section is by far the best Ive encountered and their LGBT section is also extremely impressive. I find myself wandering this shop for hours. For the space, they have an amazing selection without the overwhelming feeling I get at some other bookstores. Absolutely worth a gander if youre anywhere near the neighborhood. This place makes me want to spend all of my money.

Deplorable customer service. From the moment I inquired about a book the female bookseller was impatient and rude... as I checked out she profusely apologized for her behavior (just so you know that she saw it that way too... Previous time there male bookseller was very unfriendly, no hello, thank you, anything. Worst bookstore experiences ever Btw to the first one: research customer service. Is this the right line of work for you?

Awesome bookstore, actually my favorite bookstore in the city. Its so cozy inside, and feels like you are among great friends. Fantastic selection of travel books, plus almost anything else you are looking for. You can easily pass an afternoon or evening browsing their extensive selection of books, and making yourself at home. It is no nice to shop local and I suggest checking out Unabridged Bookstore before buying online.

Being a technology addict, I do not go to bookstores often. My wife is a physical book fan. We usually stop at this store on the weekends when we go for an afternoon walk. This place feels like a bookstore that you see in a movie. The staff is very friendly. The selection is very robust. They have a travel section in the basement that is pretty spectacular. Stores like this make me wish I liked physical books more.

After brunch down the street my wife, son, and I took a walk into Unabridged for the first time. The knowledgeable staff helped us immediately and the way the store is laid out really gives a welcoming feeling. My 2 year old son adored the childrens section and he happily left with a new flip book that hes been reading almost daily as hes learning his way around the potty. Support your local shops.

I go here for nearly all my book purchases. Its a perfect little neighborhood proper book shop -- no eReader bs. Everyone who works there are avid readers and can often help you with book suggestions, authors, and information. If its not in stock, they will order it for you and their sale section is great for super affordable classics and under the radar finds.

This is my favorite neighborhood bookstore in the city, even though I dont live in the neighborhood anymore. Their staff picks are so radically different (and far more interesting) than youd ever see at Barnes and Noble or any chain bookstore. Also, their travel section (in the basement) is HUGE. Great place to find your lonely planet guides and then some.

Best bargain section in the city. There is a huge selection of books throughout the store, which makes quarters a little cramped, but everyone is aware and polite. They always have great music playing. The staff is very hands-off, but more than willing to help if you do have a question. Staff recs and themed tables lead to some real gems.

This book store is amazing. It isnt huge but for being small they offer a huge variety of books. They hit a few niche categories really well. They have the most amazing travel book section I have seen in my entire life. They probably have at least 30 different books on every major city in the world. There is also a huge LGBTQ section.

I picked up the man with the Golden Arm here the other day for $5! You cant beat that, thats less than my usual library fines. Selection is very good for such a small store, and the staff is really friendly, they also have signed copies from local authors on occasion (Nick offerman recently).

This Lakeview bookstore is a gem! I am a teacher and I am a big fan of their childrens section! I have also found some wonderful "coffee table" books. I personally think their art books and travel books are one of a kind! It is near impossible to walk in without buying just one book!

Even though I prefer to frequent bookstores with reader-friendly seating, this independent seller has consistently delivered with a selection that combines mainstream, indie, and left-field finds. Ive either always found what I came there for or found something I didnt know I wanted.
