A word of warning: If you plan on visiting this place, do not visit this place an hour before closing time. Read on to find out! Gelato: 10/10 Staff: 3/10 Environment: 5/10 This place has amazing gelato ice cream. Ordering a medium cone, I decided to sample many of the ice cream flavors there. They were amazing, and were all imported from Paris. I picked 4 flavors which were Hazelnut, Coffee, Chocolate, and another flavor of which I forgot. As I enjoyed the ice cream next to a couple, I looked around the room at the lovely environment. At 10 PM, the shift leader informed us that it was 10 PM, and we had 5 minutes to be in shop. This was a little unexpected because restaurants usually wait on their customers for a reasonable time. After 5 minutes were up, the shift leader informed the customers again, and the customers told him that they werent leaving until they finished their ice cream. After that happened, some people came in because the door was unlocked and wanted to buy some ice cream. They were informed that they were closed, and after leaving, one of the workers shouted at them telling them to never come back. I was greatly offended by this, and immediately informed the shift leader. He was apologetic, and told me that that worker was only joking. He told the guy who yelled at the customer to give me 2 gelato cookies. As the shift leader went to the back, I quickly asked that worker if he meant what he said to those customers. He told me that he meant it and was completely honest. I then thanked him for his honesty and left. Therefore, I would avoid this place because of the dishonesty of the management, and of the rude customer service, although the ice cream is of superb quality!

In true Italian fashion, the design is far more beautiful than it is functional. Because yes, everything from the warm palette to the sleek but inviting lines are sheer eye candy. But functional? Not so much. The long high bench that provides half the cafes seating is literally 12" wide. Not conducive to the average American derriere. Not only that, but theres a big screen above the bench at shoulder height, so theres no such thing as leaning back. So its a perch, not a seat. To be fair, there is a row of upholstered seating on the opposite wall thats quite comfy. So I guess youve gotta hope one of those seats are open, if you plan to hang out a while. Although the tables are tiny, even on the "work" side. Think airplane tray-table tiny. One pro is that there are three times as many outlets as Ive ever seen in any coffee house. I guess those are for getting a quick charge on your smartphone, not powering a work session, given all the other limitations for this being a work spot. And finally, the coffee. Its their first day so I wont hold it against them that the cashier had no earthly idea that "ristretto italiano" was espresso; or that the cappuccino came out with the sloppiest mush of a design in the foamed milk Ive ever seen. Its pretty tasty, no complaints. I didnt try the gelato, and Im sure that not only is it fantastic, but thats the main thing most people are gonna come here for anyway.

Would not visit again even if my life depended on it. I have visited Amorino all over the world and Chicago was my WORST Amorino experience ever. Not only do you have to wait over 40 minutes for a low-quality product that is overpriced and under-delivered, they also mess up your flavors. A friend/relative of the owner will also comment obscenities on your post if you dare say anything bad about the location. The manager told me I would receive an email from the owner herself within a few days to follow up and make amends for my negative experience. Instead, I received a row of middle fingers on my Instagram post. Yogurt is not coconut. The employee almost gave me raspberry when I said pistachio. You are NOT getting what you paid for at this location. My gelato Rose had less than 6 petals-- a medium cone is MUCH bigger than that. I have visited different Amorino locations dozens of times both domestically and internationally. This location is in desperate need of quality control.

I am basing my review on service. There were 10 of us that came in that day, 4 were from Indiana, the rest of us are from the Western suburbs. now mind you, there were only 2 other people in the café besides us. The young girl behind the register never explained to us the process of ordering. She was EXTREMLEY rude and yelled at each one of us as we tried to look at the different flavors. When we pretty much understood how to order, my sister paid. Then my niece asked if it was too late to order because she wanted a scoop of gelato. The girl yelled at my niece, and my sister cancelled the entire order. I have read a lot of the reviews and I am saddened that we were not able to taste the coffee or the gelato that everyone has raved about. If ever I go there again, I will peek my head in. If she is there, I will keep on walking.

First, the gelato was very good. Certain sizes get a sugar mini cone on top and they are very tasty. The service is a bit strange and reminded me of The Soup Nazi in a Seinfeld episode. If you dont know the rules you must enter to the right choose your size and pay for it and then you can move to the left and get a sample. If you do not follow this protocol you will be rudely treated. I asked the manager I assumed she was the manager if she had ever heard of The Soup Nazi and she had not. When I described exactly what The Soup Nazi was and I likened her to him she actually seemed pleased with that comparison. I actually found the whole thing quite comical especially because Ive never been to that soup store in New York that was made famous by Jerry Seinfeld.

I love this place! I go here often with my father and anytime family is in town I bring them here. They have many different flavors of gelato and also sorbet. This includes a lot of gluten free and vegan options as well which is nice for me because I have dietary restrictions. Its a nice place to stop and get some gelato or sorbet when its warmer its also very nice place to sit down and have some coffee when its chilly. Be forewarned there will be a long line but its totally worth it every single time. The customer service is great and staff are helpful. This is a great little community staple and its always great to come back to.

The gelato tastes good and they have a variety of flavors, but for how much you pay it is not worth it on a regular basis. The set up of the cafe is a bit confusing as you walk in the door at the front of the line and there isnt signage to help out and the staff wasnt unfriendly but they also werent friendly in any way either. The best part is that they serve the gelato in a cone in a flower shape which is worth the experience. I would recommend this place to someone who has never had it before or to bring friends and family who havent had it as it is a new and fun experience!
