Furniture offgassing toxic chemicals. Bought houseful of furniture from Ashley Furniture in Kennesaw, GA. Can smell furniture offgassing chemicals. Began feeling sick shortly after furniture delivered...headache, sore, dry itchy throat, watery eyes, nausea, dizziness, trouble concentrating. Became worried. Did internet research. Found out that furniture manufacturing is not really regulated, and there are 9 potentital toxins in the furniture...Pthalates, VOcs, PBDEs, PFCs, PCEs, Formaldehyde, Triclosan, Chlorine and Ammonia. Guess what? They cause the very same symptoms that Im having. I notified Ashley local and corporate of the issue on May 10, 2017 after having the furniture for 2 weeks or less, depending upon which piece(s). While there have been a couple of employees that have tried to help and do the right thing, management and corporate are not interested in doing the right thing. In this case, I just want to return the toxic furniture and have them issue me a refund for the cash that I paid...it was nice chunk of change...all paid via debit card...essentially cash. I have spent many days and hours now on the phone with both the local store and corporate. ( Oh...and they also owe me a refund for a loveseat that we had refused on 2 delivery attempts for the same manufacturing defect (holes and scrapes and on the second attempt to include missing feet) They have that in their possession, but we dont have the money we paid. We even went into the store to speak to a manager, and that manager, Julie simply dismissed us and didnt refund us for the love seat that they have in their possession that we never took delivery of in the first place. ) The store manager at Ashley Furniture in Kennesaw, GA , Karen Powell, has never returned our phone calls or spoken to us on the phone or in person. She is avoiding us. After several days of spinning our wheels with both the local Ashley Furniture and Ashley Corporate, another kind and upstanding ( one of the few) local Ashley employees told me to file a complaint with the BBB and to go public on social media because her manager wasnt going to help us. That employee even told me that she was upset with her manager for not handling the situation appropriately...or rather, at all. I did file a complaint with the BBB, but it went to the BBB in Wisconsin because thats where there corporate headquarters are located, so no one looking only at the GA BBB will see my complaint. )I forgot to mention earlier in my review that we were told to call corporate and schedule a technician to come out and "test" the furniture for chemicals. We went in circles with corporate and got the technician scheduled for today. At around 10:30 am, 2 guys from US Quality Furniture Service showed up. They said they were there to take pictures and inspect 2 love seats. We told them that we actually have a houseful of Ashley Furniture that is supposed to be tested. Turns out they dont test furniture for chemical toxicity. We did have them photograph all of the Ashley furniture that we have though. Turns out that Ashley Corporate and local lied to us. Im not shocked, but I am angry. I called Ashley Corporate back about this matter, and the customer service agent was less than friendly. Rude seems to be their motto. Ashley Furniture currently owes us $789.26 for a love seat that we refused on delivery twice due to the physical condition of the piece. We paid them via debit (cash) in full prior to both delivery attempts. They have that love seat in their possession, and theyve kept our money for that piece of furniture that weve never taken possession of in the first place. We want to return the rest of the furniture that is off-gassing toxic fumes and receive a refund. DONT BUY FURNITURE HERE! TERRIBLE!!!!

Summary: While trying to purchase furniture from Ashley furniture, I’ve encountered numerous issue and have been unable to resolve them despite more than 3 hours on the phone with them. Issue 1: Bill for 2 line items subtotaled incorrectly erroneously charging me an additional $75 + tax Issue 2: Delivery date on sales form was missed and then claimed it never existed despite 2 receipts showing the date. Issue 3: Delivery was reschedule, but I was informed that I had to pay an additional $125 since the items were being delivered at separate times despite this being the plan from the original purchase. Issue 4: Promised call backs on 2 occasions, placed on hold for 30+ minutes, with no response. Full Stories: My wife and I have recently purchased 2 pieces of furniture from Ashley but are still struggling with the store related to delivery and customer service. We originally looked at a couch and a bed. We decided to purchase only the bed for $799 with a $125 delivery change for delivery on 7/1 – a key deciding factor as we need the bed that weekend. [ISSUE #1] When the amount was subtotaled, the order was for $999 + tax ($75 additional charge for unknown). When this was detected, I returned to the store. In the meantime, we decided to purchase the couch as well. The store was able to add the couch, remove the $75 erroneous charge. The order form was updated and I was informed the couch was on back order but the bed could still be delivered on 7/1. [ISSUE #2] On 7/1, the couch was not delivered. Upon calling the store, we were informed the delivery was scheduled for 7/13 and that they had no record of a delivery ever for 7/1 despite two sales orders with that date. They indicated they would return call that day to confirm if an earlier date was available. By 8:00 pm, the call had not been returned, so I called again. I was informed the delivery office was closed and a return call would be necessary. On 7/2, we received a call that the bed would be delivered on 7/5 and the couch would be delivered when available. I asked if the bed could be picked up, so I could have the bed by the weekend as originally needed, and was informed since both were covered under the same delivery charge, I would have to pick-up both or neither. I decided to leave the 7/5 delivery date as is. [ISSUE #3] Later that afternoon, I received a voicemail informing me that the bed could not be delivered without an additional delivery charge of $125 since the couch wouldn’t be available until a later date. I returned the call to the store and was told there was nothing they could do about the additional charge without speaking to a manager. At 6:00 pm, I was told a manager would call me back. [ISSUE #4] At 8:30 pm, I called again and requested a manager as the store closes at 9:00 pm and was placed on hold. At 8:55 I called the store again on a 2nd line as I had been on hold for 25 minutes with the store closing in 5 minutes but no one answered. I remained on hold until 9:07 pm when the phone was answered and immediately hung up. As of 10:00 pm on 7/2, no furniture has been received, it’s unclear if a delivery is scheduled, and I’ve been unable to discuss with the company in question despite repeated attempts.

I give NO stars to the Ashley Furniture in Kennesaw, GA. I only had to so I could post this review. This is a long post but please read to the end as there were multiple issues from the get go! My husband and I attempted to purchase a sofa and coffee table in July of 2016. The delivery for it was approximately 4 weeks out. It took us over 2 hours to order the items while in the store. We had our items picked out a half hour after we got there and the process to put it in the computer to order it took 3 sales people/managers to finally get it in their system and 2 hours. We tried to order a sectional couch which had to go in a certain direction. When the pieces were finally delivered we quickly realized before they even had the entire couch off the truck that it was ordered wrong. We told them to take it back and signed that we only took possession of the coffee table. We immediately called the store and they said that they had entered the info wrong in the computer as to how the sectional should sit and they promised that they had fixed it and would reship it. We waited another week to have them deliver the WRONG couch AGAIN! We signed with the delivery guy that we DID NOT take possession of the couch and they returned the piece. We immediately called the store again and was told by a different person that you could not order the couch as we needed it and that it would not fit. While we were on the phone immediately after the second attempt at delivery my husband received a phone call from Ashley Furniture wanting to know if they could deliver our couch that same day. We explained to the delivery man that someone had just left our house with the wrong couch and that apparently we couldnt get what we attempted to order, so no do not come by the house. We called Ashley Furniture back and told them to cancel the couch order since now we know it wouldnt even fit what we needed it for. They stated they had cancelled our order. Later that same week we received another call from them asking us when we would like to have the couch delivered. We had to explain to the delivery guy that we had canceled our order several days ago and did not want the couch. They finally stopped calling us. We had signed up to get financing through them since we could get 12 months no interest. We paid our coffee table off within the 12 months and then realized we were still getting a bill. They had never alerted Synchrony (who they use to finance through) that they had taken the couch off of our order and we were still being billed for it by Sychrony. We have spent countless hours and months on the phone with Ashley trying to get this sorted out and still to this day 2/23/17 we are fighting with them to get them to get it right with synchrony and then of course eventually to get our money back since we are paying on a bill we do not owe and are now getting charged interest! DO NOT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY! If they screw up it will never get fixed and could get stuck owing money you do not owe them!
