A few years back I had a warranty issue with an aftermarket part. The manufacture directed me to Apalachee Cycle to process my claim. At first, dealing with the owner, they were very friendly and helped me with the warranty issue. In the process of getting the new item from the manufacture I had to upgrade several other components to the tune of well over $100 parts and labor. Well, upon getting my bike back, things were not right. I brought my bike back in and they supposedly fixed it, naturally charging me more money. (That I paid without complaint.) The problem persisted. I called and could not get the owner back on the phone and was repeatedly told he would call me back. This never happened, so I called a few times until he picked up. I was very professional in stating my problems and in turn the owner was abruptly rude and profane with me. Clearly, he was happy to take my money and deal with my problem as long as the manufacture was paying, but when the problems where on his end, he was no longer interested in helping me. I shrugged it off and figured with those type of business practices, they would be out of business in no time. Well, I drove by the other day and noticed they were still open, so I stopped in. I was very surprised to find they were still under the same ownership. I went home and noticed a few other similar reviews online and figured I would do my part in trying to prevent more people from getting hosed like I did. There are way too many reputable shops nearby. (Like Outback in Dacula, Adventure in Flowery Branch, or make the trip to Athens where there are four or five great shops.) If you need a quick part that will require no support and they are your closest shop, I wouldnt worry. But, I strongly suggest making major purchases or having work done elsewhere.

I first came into Apalachee Cycle last September (2014) not having ridden a bicycle for maybe 12 years. The owner and staff were extremely knowledgeable, no-pressure, and willing to help...I wasnt up-sold on anything and decided to go with a hybrid/fitness bike. I live near the Atlanta Beltline and have really taken a liking to cycling. I recently decided to upgrade to a road bike and, once again, experienced great customer service here. I know I asked a great deal of questions and they didnt seem to mind; no sense of arrogance here, just good people doing honest business. 5 stars. If you ever think you MIGHT be interested in a bicycle, I definitely recommend giving this place a look.

Bruce Ray (owner of Appalachee Cycle) is a shining example of what it means to be a business owner who truly invests time, money, and priceless cycling expertise into his community. Too many times in todays world customers are not only inconsiderate but are just plain vengeful toward those who try to help them. When you bring your bike to Appalachee Cycle or buy a bike here, you are investing in the vast Gwinnett county cycling community itself -and every rider that Bruce & Jeremy take care of. I cant think of even one small business Id rather dedicate my business to than here. They ARE the cycling communitys favorite in Gwinnett County hands down.

My bike needed repairs after being wrecked. To avoid the traffic downtown, I took it to this place. BAD idea. They kept it for TWO WEEKS and didnt really touch it. Kept saying it would be done the next day, etc etc. They finally told me to come get it, but it STILL wasnt ready. They fed me some line about the wrong wheel coming in, happy to make me wait there for over an hour. On the way out, the guy stopped me and said "Oh wait, I didnt even notice the handlebars were bent." I took it anyway and left. Got it home and still couldnt ride it because of repairs it needed that they didnt notice. Apathetic customer service and poor workmanship.

This is a bike store not a bike shop. They lack good customer service and they need to value the customer a whole lot better. I Ended taking the bike I bought at Apalache to cycleworks and got top notch service. Will not go back nor reccommend it. Save your time and money and make the drive to Cycleworks

These guys are great. Everything you would expect from a local bike shop that strives to develop a good relationship with its customers. For example, when I broke my rear wheel, Bruce loaned me one while he was getting warranty clearance from the manufacturer. Great service that is really hard to find.

Great example of how a small business should be run - focused on the customer experience and relationships. Good variety of bike gear, and reasonable prices, too. This is what a bike shop should be. I always feel happier after I visit Apalachee.
