What a nightmare. On September 15th, I went to Cycle World of Athens to buy a 2017 Honda Grom. I picked the color I wanted and they took the bike back into service to prep it while I did the paperwork. I went back into an office with two older ladies and they took payment and wrote up the bill of sale. It took them three times filling out the paperwork before they got it right. Then, we step back out into the showroom and they tell me I have to ring a bell. Like a big brass bell. Wtf? I declined but the lady said she had to do it so she rings this stupid bell and everyone in the showroom starts clapping. Awful. Then I head back to service where the bike was getting prepped to ride. I take off down Atlanta highway and before I made it to the loop, both mirrors had vibrated loose and were spinning in the wind. Awesome. Its not like theyre there for safety or anything. By the time I made it home, the bike was giving off a bad burnt clutch smell. I called Cycle World and my salesman, Mark, told me that I needed to bring it in as soon as I could. I explained that if I couldnt ride it, I couldnt get it up there so he agreed to sent someone with a trailer to pick it up the next day around noon. Noon rolls around and I hadnt heard anything so I call Cycle World again and Mark wasnt there and no one there knew anything about my bike needing to get picked up. Then this blowhard sales manager named Barry got on the phone and told me that it was normal and "its just the cosmoline burning off the motor". Cosmoline isnt used on motorcycles. And I used to sell guns and I promise you, it doesnt smell like burnt clutch disks. Barry claimed all new motorcycles smell that way and its normal. This is my fourth new motorcycle and this is my first experience with the clutch smell. I insisted that they come pick it up and take a look at it like my salesman said. Barry came out with a trailer and loaded it up but not before he gave me the ear-beating of a lifetime about how great Cycle World is and how much he loves working there and how he has four motorcycles and on and on talking so loud, basically shouting so that everyone that lives around me could hear. He took the bike back and the service department went over the bike again and adjusted the clutch, which was something else that got missed previously. He brought it back later in the afternoon. I had to endure another full volume ear-beating from this jerk about ho he wants to go to Alaska, blah blah. Anyway, after the clutch adjustment, the smell went away completely. So I go about riding 40-60 miles a day. I started thinking about the initial 600 mile break-in service so I called Cycle World to get a quote. I was connected to Rachel in service. I told her the make, model and year of my bike and she put me on hold for a few minutes. She came back to the phone and said "Umm, itll be $85 or $180". Then the next day, I went for a ride and the left rear turn signal fell off and was hanging by the wires because another fastener was loose. This tells me that this motorcycle was never properly inspected at the dealer. Barry even pointed out stuff that had been missed that I hadnt noticed. At this point, I own a brand new 2017 Honda motorcycle that Im afraid to ride because who knows what else it loose? What else did they miss? Whats going to fall off next? A wheel? Hand/foot controls? The bottom line is, this has been the worst customer service experience of my life. If I knew going in that I was going to catch so much grief, I wouldnt have gone to Cycle World. The only reason I did was because they were the only dealer in the area that had the new 2017s. The sales people only care about selling Harleys. They other brands get zero attention.

I took my bike here to have the major service done. The service rep told me that the cost would be $220 plus materials. He told me that materials typically include oil, the oil filter, and shims; and usually cost around $60. The service rep called me a couple days before I picked up my bike and told me that it needed a new battery for around $70. When they finally finished with my bike, a month later, they told me that I owed $435. The service rep told me that the additional cost was because the battery was $33 (labor) to install and material cost made up the other increase. The invoice had several other price changes made. When I asked the service rep about them he told me that the service tech had changed some of the service cost, and tried to increase the price by an additional $170 but had been told by the service rep that he could not change it. It took an hour to get everything sorted out and I still ended up paying over $200 more than the original quote. Ill never be back to this service department, and I would advise anyone who needs their bike serviced to go somewhere else. I have the service paperwork on hand if anyone would like a picture / proof of my experience. This was by far the worst customer service I have ever received. I tried to talk with the service manager, but I was told that they were too busy to talk. Be sure to check out the Better Business Bureau rating on this company (F). I will say on a positive note, my bike does run better and the actual mechanical service was good. Unfortunately, the business practices of this company are terrible.

Well, over the past year, my scooter was in service for around 4 months. Never ONCE did I receive a phone call about the status of the repairs (and it was one part...why does that take four months to fix it?). In spite of this, when I actually interacted with the people there, I could tell that they were friendly people. They seem a bit frazzled due to a seeming over-acceptance of bikes and not enough manpower to handle it all. For some reason, I decided to call about a new Yamaha coming out, the FZ-07. When I called, the rep on the phone asked if I had ever ridden a sportbike before. I said yes, a Honda CBR600RR and he simply said "You will be sorely disappointed." How is that a response for a dealer??? Isnt their job to SELL the bikes? I told him "well, thats in the eye of the beholder considering I dont want a bike that can land me in jail by second gear anymore." Personally, I just wanted a fun bike to have around town. This guy swore the only bikes worth riding were those that did 160+mph on the track. Who cares ONLY about that??? Its very tough to not buy from Mountain Motorsports considering the record of high quality they have. Overall, this place needs a SERIOUS change in management of daily operations. The guys in service and parts are friendly but overworked. This can make the customer think theyre pissed and make you feel worthless. Accept fewer bikes if that makes the overall experience better OR higher more techs and keep them trained on moving more bikes out.
