3 YEAR CUSTOMER HERE - I bought my mountain bike when this shop opened up at this location so I have seen every single employee come through that place and have seen the evolution of the shop, sales floor, management styles...etc. a few months ago I would have given performance a 6 star rating (yes Im aware that this is higher than the 5 star available). The staff was great, friendly, honest, and would go above and beyond anything expected out of them. The mechanics were very knowledgeable and would NOT "nickel and dime" you. NOW, the shop has changed a lot! They brought a manager in who had not run an actual store but was doing more corporate stuff. You can see the lack of experience in dealing with people. There is no need for me to say more as I will not and do not need to bash anyone through this review. Not a single staff member who was there the past 2 years is now there currently. Why might you wonder?? Well I actually know a lot of the ex-staff personally and corporate has implemented new guidelines that make it difficult for them to focus on the customer rather than pure profits. They have changed and not in a good way. All the employees left because of these changes... All in all they do have good prices. I have spent literally thousands of dollars in this shop but am treated like I robbed the place when I go in. I have noticed recently that they are hiring more employees but this seems to be a red flag for me. I have seen recently sooo many staff members come and go. I think that part of this reason is the training and management of the store. They need to bring someone in who understands the importance of such training and who leads by example. They obviously need to focus on customer service which baffles me because they were so good at it before. Hopefully they can get it right cause the prices and everything else are way cheaper than anywhere around and the match any price! I just updated my review starting with this sentence. I reduced my rating from a 2 star to 1 star. I have been extremely disappointed in performance. If you go in, Mike and garret are the ones to see! They are knowledgeable, nice, and great to deal with!!! I signed a ticket the other day which was blank when I signed it. I then came back to deal with it and an employee named Ahmet added a bunch of charges without first informing me. He cited the document with my signature as his reasoning when he added additional terms after I signed it. That would technically be fraud which I explained to him so he quickly tore it up. He was going to charge me $120+ to swap a handle bar which included, removing the brakes and shifters obviously. Long story short, since I was never informed about it, mike, being the the great employee he is, took care of it for me after seeing my frustration. I have spent thousands of dollars at this store and have pushed at least 10 people through their doors who have also spent thousands of dollars. Its sad to me that they dont treat every customer as if they were as loyal as me and sad I have been disrespected a few times there. I probably am not the best customer as I have returned a few bikes and other items for various reasons (Im very picky) but that is what they pride themselves on as a bike store, right? I returned my bike straight up and am debating what to do with my $3000 I have to put towards my next bike...

About two months ago I walked in the Winter Park Store to inquire about a bike. I was 320 pounds I had lost 10 pounds changing my diet but I knew I needed the exercise to go with the plan. I have limited knowledge on the bicycle subject so I relied on the employee to direct me. The young man recommended a schwinn modestly priced but a perfect fit for me. I just had to raise the seat a bit. after three weeks of riding and 10 to 15 miles every morning I dropped to 301 and then I wiped out. 10 miles into a 15 mile course I hit a pot hole and went head first over the handlebars I chipped my bone in my arm and tore my bicep muscle on my dominant arm so I have to wait 6 weeks to ride again. While I was off the bike I thought I would take it back to Performance Bicycle in Winter Park I met Tim I recognized him from a past visit. I asked him ask to upgrade the handlebars for me so i could improve the control I have on the bike. He looked at me on the bike adjusted the Handlebars and decided to take my bike back and order me a new bike with an extra large frame switch all me accessories over and have it ready for me to restart my program in 2 more weeks. I own a small business in Casselberry and we strive to provide outstanding customer service although I do not expect it in return it seems the art of compassion for your customers has ben replaced with the art of building a ticket price. Not at Performance Bicycle they had a chance to sell me a high dollar bike when I walked in the door but the salesman said start with a reliable $300.00 bike and if this is something you like come back and upgrade. To top off my buying experience with Tim going out of his way to get me back on the road at no expense to me is exceeding my expectations of an already great place to do business. My hat is off to a first rate old school Bike Shop, Thank You. Bill Allen

Horrible experience. Ordered bike on-line at the Performance Bicycle website and had it delivered to the Winter Park store. When I went to pick it up, rear brakes did not work. After wasting 30 minutes as manager Jae attempted to fix breaks, was told I would need to leave it for repair. Jae assured me the brakes were working earlier, as he was the one who had assembled it. Next day, bike tech called to say he replaced the brakes as they were broken in shipment and never worked (I dont know who is telling truth now, but someone is dishonest). Bike tech said he took replacement brakes from a bike on display. I asked tech if brakes were the same as the ones he replaced (otherwise the warranty would be void). He assured me they were. I went to pick up bike and the replacement rear brakes were different than the original and did not match the front brakes. The store clerk agreed they were different and suggested I take receipt of my "new" bike and bring it back after they order/receive the correct brakes. I would be having 3 repairs on a brand new bike I had never ridden. I declined the bike, got my money back, and bought the exact bike for same price (free shipping) from one of the major on-line bicycle warehouse sellers later that night. Received that bike a week later in perfect condition. The store was chaotic when I arrived (not very busy) and they obviously were unaware of the bikes they were selling, along with being dishonest.
