Although Hawks has a decent ambiance and I had a great experience getting my first two tattoos from Jon, one of the two artists who is a very polite and outgoing guy, the system at which the owners request appointments and respond to custom tattoos is unacceptable. I and 4 other previous customers strongly disagree with this. We think it is a very unnecessary trait and a waste of time to only be able to make an appointment by driving to Hawks and showing up. Making a phone a call and speaking to Joe or Jon as opposed to just walking in the door and physically speaking with Joe or Jon has absolutely no significant difference whatsoever. Hawks Tattoos needs to adapt the same system as a restaurant: taking reservations (appointments) over the phone. It saves the customer time and eliminates any hassle(s). To go hand and hand to this ridiculous complication, a friend of the family wanted to request a small wrist tattoo for a loved one, but one of the artists explains that a tattoo request cannot be made without making an appointment.... Why would someone need to make an appointment for something as simple as getting a sketch of a tattoo? There is a difference between wanting a sketch to get an idea of what the tattoo will look like BEFORE you get it and actually having the complete tattoo in mind that you want before getting it. An appointment is completely unnecessary for the former. Hawks Tattoo even states on their website: "We are more than comfortable designing a custom tattoo for you (which is our preference)". If they are more than comfortable and it is something they prefer, then there should be no exceptions to this. Not to mention nowhere in that sentence or on their website does it state that an appointment is required to be made prior to requesting a custom tattoo or something as simple as a sketch. Hawks Electric Tattoos owners are fantastic artists and very indulgent people, but lack the generosity that is required or deserved to be a full 5-star establishment from my and others experience.

Easily the best tattoo shop Ive been to. The atmosphere is incredible. They hang work theyve both done so you can see their styles. Its always bright and so well lit. The artists are beyond talented. Joe has a style that is very unique that captivates you. He clearly knows how to treat his employees based on how happy everyone is. Jons art is ridiculously amazing. He can capture the emotion of an animal through the eyes. He also has incredible line work. He uses bright colors that pop and really help your tattoo stand out from the rest. Both Joe and Jon keep you talking while youre in the chair and include you in conversations. They go above and beyond to make sure youre comfortable. By far the most wonderful shop in the Tampa Bay Area.

Could not be happier about the art Jon Santos performed for my first tattoo. Was super friendly and really took the idea I wanted and made it come to life. Was told for so long just how painful it is but he did such a great job that it wasnt bad at all. I cant wait to go back in for more tattoos. Both Jon and Joe are really awesome guys that make the atmosphere really enjoyable and the time goes by in an instant. Everyone I know wanting to get some masterful art work out on forever there is only one place I will ever recommend. Thanks Jon!!!

Joe and Bob are the best tattoo artists around. I have had work done by both of them and the experience from start to finish has been nothing but outstanding. They are both amazing artists and can bring any idea you have to life. All of their ideas and drawings are original. You wont find a bunch of flash art and stuff youve seen on everyone. They run a clean, friendly shop and are just all around good guys. I tell everyone to go see these gentlemen if they want a quality tattoo.

I cant say enough about not only the tattoo skills Joe has, but the entire experience I had at Hawks Electric Tattoo. From the moment I stepped in the door for my initial consultation to the day I came back after my half sleeve had healed, my experience was something that you dont find very often anymore these days in ANY business. Joes attention to detail and his personable demeanor are hard to find anymore. Ill be back again for sure!

This place is amazing. Joes line work and attention to detail are unmatched. He will consistently ask how do you like what you see so far. Willing to actually listen to the customer describing their tattoo design as opposed to well you should get this. Him and Bob are both friendly as can be and probably make anyone laugh and they provide a fun atmosphere. I am new in the area but Joe and Bob are going to be my go to tattoo artists.

One of the best experiences I have had getting a tattoo. Joe was very professional and a fantastic artist. From the moment you walk into the shop you get a very welcoming feeling from both Joe and Bob, and it doesnt end. He took great pride in his work and it showed in the finished product. Best artist around. You will never find a identical tattoo coming from this shop. I gave Joe a idea and he drew it up right in front of me (no google or flash needed). Iam lucky enough to be carrying one of Joes first tattoos when he was a apprentice over a decade ago.I will not go to any other artist. He answered all my questions. It was an awesome experience and the atmosphere was great. I am already planning my second tattoo at Hawks Electric Tattoo.

Really like the way they meet with you before you get the tattoo to ensure that everything is exactly how you like it. I highly recommend anyone looking for a tattoo guy. I love Joes place. It is very neat and clean. Joe and Bob are very nice and will work on anything you want. Their tattooing work is top notch and I will not go anywhere else.
