if you want a side of racism and pretentious attitude with your tattoo experience then this is the right place for you!! The guy with the glasses who was tattooing my friend made several jokes about how black people cant swim and that a girl he saw once was as dark as his table in his shop. He also proceeded to talk about gay and trans people for absolutely NO reason. While doing my friends tattoo, he kept stopping to talk about his life or give his unwanted opinion on stuff he thinks he knows more than people about. I warned my friend from the beginning that the guy might be a racist (WHICH HE IS) because of the bio I read on the tattoo shop. It said "You wont have to deal with THUG attitudes in our shop." so that basically screams "you dont have to deal with black people at our shop." The whole experience was just uncomfortable and the tattoo my friend got was WAAAAY overpriced and I think it was overpriced because they seem like they hardly get clients. My friend should not have to pay $140 for a 3 inch rose with NO COLOR. At the least, it should have been $100 or $90. In short, save your money or go to another tattoo shop because these people arent worth your money or time. The two guys there seem like the very definition of a people who think they are the best tattoo artists in the world YET me and my friends were the only ones in there and it was Friday XD which is supposed to be the busiest day for a tattoo shop, yet these two bafoons were twiddling their thumbs and watching tv, basically doing nothing. My advice to you is to run for the hills to another shop, but if you want to be insulted and belittled, go to Chicago custom tattoo :) PS, I wouldnt write this long review if I didnt care. Ive dealt with shitty attitudes at tattoo shops before but nothing as uncomfortable as this. And also what really bothered me was when he asked my sister if she was next as if he was going to use the same needle he used on my friend to do her tattoo!!!! *sigh* just dont spend your money there. They arent worth it....

I went in for a very special tattoo in dedication to my dog that passed away. I have tattoos, but was a little nervous with this one being on my ribs. The artist was awesome, he made me laugh, and made me feel comfortable. He has a VERY soft hand in comparison to any other tattoo artist and I have been worked on by 8 others, which made a HUGE difference in my experience. I am beyond happy with my tattoo and plan on going back for a touch up on a previous tattoo and the cover up of another. He tattooed a few lines of a poem I wrote for her with a paw print inside of a heart. <3

Kurt went above and beyond on both my fathers and my tattoo. We had a wonderful experience and both pieces of art work were very reasonably priced. The shop was very well maintained and had a great vibe to it. Because they are both artist I do recommend making an appointment first instead of just walking in that way they have time to put in the detail you want. Kurt took his time and made our visions come to life with his artistic skills. We will be back. Thank you again Kurt!

Hes done 4 tattoos on me so far including my half sleeve thats still in progress, as well as pieces on several of my family members and countless friends in the area. I get so many compliments that I carry around a stack of his business cards! Definitely one of - if not THE best artist in the area.

Went in with my friend for her birthday to get a spur of the moment tattoo. Walked in and was greeted with sarcasm and smart a** comments. As a sarcastic person, I liked it. If youre offended by the shop get a sense of humor. I love my tattoo Dave did, and would like to get more hopefully soon. He did an awesome job on a tattoo that Ive been wanting for awhile and just did it spontaneously.

Kurt is very professional on top of being an extremely talented artist. If you want to go to a shop that makes you feel like nothing more than revenue, there are plenty in the area. If your looking for a more professional, personal tattoo experience, where you feel respected, and the vibe is more about the art than dollars, then Chicago Custom Tattoo and Kurt "The Hurt" is for you.

I have had the best experience going here I havent had anyone besides Kurt tattoo me. I wouldnt go to anyone else. He is very family oriented and to the point on what I want for a tattoo. I give him the description and if I want to add or change anything to the piece he does it without a problems. Highly recommend him as an artist
