I have many tattoos and Im by far one of the pickiest when it comes to who works on my art. For example, it had been 4 years since my last tattoo. Mostly because of my experience at a previous location (that I will choose to leave unnamed). I waited 4 years, made many appointments, but never followed through because it didnt have that click or vibe I was looking for...until getting in with this shop. My whole reason for visiting this was to get a dermal piercing, my first. The piercing alone was an unbelievable and comfortable experience all around. The biggest part that surprised me was that I went in for a piercing and because of the amazing personality of everyone there, I walked out with an appointment. In just 3 weeks I have had both of my hands and half my left arm completed. Mike does my work, however everyone there is extremely talented and would do anything to make sure its clients were well taken care of and felt as though they walked out with more than what they asked for. I understand being on the fence, especially when it comes to making a decision you will live with forever. In todays world, tattoos have become way more of the norm and we see a lot of bad work. It freaks us out and it gives us that, "I will never be in that situation" thought. So if youre like me, and youre more scared of committing to the artist and not so much the tattoo you want. You wont go wrong giving these guys a shot. I made a giant leap in letting his first work on me be of a rose on my hand. Thats a major piece, one that I will personally notice more than the rest just due to location. I have had nothing but relief and compliments come my way. Another major component of this shop and that Mike even went out of his way to check on me. Ive never met an artist who would do that. The price is reasonable, the artwork is amazing, the atmosphere is comforting, and the people will take amazing care of you. Help these guys grow and get something that you will always cherish and never regret. My new shop for all of my work. Major thanks to everyone there. Clean, full of art, great customer service! They are always great to deal with= all smiles and full of information. Very knowledgeable about the tattoo process and after care. Im curious if the one star ratings are from indignant people who didnt really follow through (staph is on everyones body, when you let it get into your body is when you get problems___ "Crazy_Bitch101" maybe your personal hygiene had a lot to do with it... I have well over 20 some odd tattoos and several have came from this shoppe and I havent experienced anything unusual) (you always have the opportunity to have an artist redraw or change elements to a piece__ "tattylove" why did your friend commit to allowing the artist to tattoo a "childs drawing" on her? Did she not look at it before hand???) like I said I have over 20 some odd works on my body (full back, full chest, ribs, 3/4 sleeve, stomach...etc)- Tattoos are permanent*(lasers and wrecking balm can fade them) and require an attitude that understands and can do what is necessary within the bracket of being a sensible consumer.

Underground is one of the most, if not the most, clean and professional tattoo shops in Newark. I have been a client for years and will continue to be because all of the artists there are friendly, helpful, and do their absolute best to make sure everyone leaves happy and comfortable. I have personally been tattooed by Mike Bentley multiple times and after following his suggested (and commonly known) tattoo aftercare procedures all of my tattoos have healed nicely and look beautiful. I highly recommend this shop.

Mike is amazing artist. Helped me calm during my first tattoo. Mike is very excellent at what he does. And made recommendations so that I would want to get tattooed in the future. Zac the other artist did an amazing cover up while I was there. And it turned out amazing. This shop is very clean and professional. My mom and step dad will be going to them to get some work done. In a different point of view, I love working here in this great environment. Everyone is very professional and clean and I feel welcomed everyday. Its always a party when youre here but we know when to buckle down and start working hard to get you exactly what you want, piercing or tattoo wise. Best shop Ive ever worked in!

had piercings done here in a sensitive area. one side came out the front of my nipple and the other was completely below it. had to take them out and now they cannot be repierced do NOT recommend this place a friend got a coverup here and it looks like a childs drawing. now she has to have another artist work a miracle.

I had daughters name tattooed onto me by my custom request and the guy mike was great working with my ideas he even help me out with suggestions and the envorinment there is great, clean, and friendly. Im looking forward to going there again for my next tattoo!!:-D
