to whom it may concern; I write you this letter to inform you of your staff at your retail location 16248 FL-54, Odessa, FL 33556. On Friday Feb 19 2016 I purchased 5 saltwater fish and several other items receipt totaled $100.50 and was informed by the cashier at checkout I had a 2 day guarantee return on the fish. I brought them home and added them to a fully established tank with fish that have been living in the tank for almost a year now, Also it is a coral reef tank, I have not had any problems with any of the life in the tank, on Sunday 21st 2016 around 6pm I noticed one of the fish was becoming slow and unresponsive, I checked all of the water parameters and everything checked out to be right where they need to be. the fish ended up dying and I took the fish back to the store Monday morning, the fish was not a cheap fish nor an expensive one but it did cost me $30 which is enough to seek compensation. I was met with Nick P, who started our conversation with “ if Im going to talk to you then we need to get along” which set the mood for the entire interaction proceeding, he went to the back to run a test on the sample of water I brought because I knew they would have to test it, part of the return policy. he came back with results completely opposite of my own test results and told me the water was uninhabitable and thats why the fish died and that there was no return policy on saltwater fish to begin with. Feeling like I had just been scammed I went to my other local saltwater fish store and asked them to test my water sample, they confirmed it was perfect for housing any new fish and or coral, I find it funny that my previous fish and the other 4 I purchased the same day form your store are still doing great and have had no issues at all. only 1 fish died and my experience with your staff (rude and condescending) has left a bad experience with me and I will under no circumstances every shop at another Petco. I will also make sure to share my experience with all of my other Aquatic, dog and cat friends that I have and meet in the future. I really hope you check into this matter with your store and the employee and their behavior because Im sure Im not the only one being treated this why by them. Thank you; Stephanie ex customer.

I bought some freshwater plants about 7 months ago from this store and it gave my tank Ich. I had a thriving tank and was introducing plants to it. About 7 days after i added these plants ich developed killing off 3 - 4" Clown Loaches,about 5 cherry barbs, a few catfish, and a couple of my tetras. The gestation period for ich is 6 to 8 days. When i told the girl at the store about this, she said it couldnt have been from their plants and that it had to be Stress related. I explained that the only change I made to the tank was added 3 $2.99 bunches of plants from them. She argued i was wrong. I lost over $175 worth of fish because of this. I will no longer buy any livestock from Petco because of this, only supplies! It showed me their staff doesnt have a clue. It took me several weeks and more $ to cure my tank of ich. Its been 6 months since then and i have a thriving planted tank again.

Im giving a low rating because the customer service at this store is very poor. For example, I called in last weekend because they had announced a pet adoption event online. I called on Saturday to confirm event and the Grooming department answers. The lady that answered first said she did not know what I was talking about. She then said that the event would be Saturday at 1pm. When we got there there was no event. We were told by the clerks that it was impossible someone told us that. To come back Sunday if we wanted to, but they were not sure who was going to be there. This is one example of a few where weve had poor customer service.
