We went to Car Max to test drive and purchase a specific car. Their sales guy, who had a broken arm, said he needed my husbands driver license to be certain that, "You are not a convicted felon or something." He took my husbands driver license then he told us to go wait for him outside. It is HOT here outside. So I sat down and waited for him inside while he was entering our data. My husband had a conference call to get to so I let the guy know that my husband was in a hurry. The guy got all pissy... looked at me with a cold stare and practically clenching his jaws said, "Im going as fast as I can." He was very rude. I got upset and told him, "Im just letting you know." And the guy told me to stop rushing him. I told him I wasnt rushing him but I though he should know that my husband is in a hurry. Then he refused to do business with us and told us we would have to find another sales agent. We walked out... A few things people should know.... the reason he wanted us to go outside is to get us to walk the lot while he was inside entering ALL of our data into his system... not to find out if my husband is a felon, but so that he could market to us and gather our data for marketing purposes. And to get us to look at more cars. I get it. That is the car game. Fine. But when I tell you that we have to rush because my husband has a meeting, dont get all crappy with me because Im interfering with your veiled marketing tactics. BAD SERVICE!!!! You should go with the flow... let us see the dang car without making us wait for you to gather all our data... you would have made a sale, but instead you pissed off a couple who is looking to buy TWO cars cash!!! Bad, inflexible sales person. See the previous reviewer who said that after they gathered his information CarMax started spamming him.

Bought a pickup. Thought for 2 weeks, all was well. It wasnt. Took truck into an official Toyota dealer. They physically showed me that this "multi-point" CarMax inspection was bogus. It was incredibly out of alignment and the tires had to be replaced. The list continues, but I should have known it was all too good to be true. Then, I had spent $1000. for a new nav system. It was what I wanted. But when I took it in, I found out that it had to be driven to Ft. Myers. I didnt care, but what was bad was when I found out that: 1. all of the wires that were cut and pieces from installation, were left on the front floor board and I have picked some off from under the seats. 2. I also found out that they were not able to wash the truck beause the antenna could not go through a carwash due to possible damage. How do I keep it clean? I am disabled, and cannot do it myself. 3. Did I forget to mention that Ft. Myers, when they returned the truck to Naples, it had enough gas to make it to the first gas station??? Everyone has treated me at Naples with respect. It is not that. It is that I guess once you pass the 30 days, I am on my own. I TAKE TOTAL RESPONSIBILITY; THEY DID NOT HOLD A GUN TO MY HEAD AND MAKE ME BUY THE VEHICLE. One more IMPORTANT thing. My sales agent and all at the service department understanr customer service. They are ALL great people. THIS MY OWN FAULT. I just want anyone who buys a car ANYWHERE, to do your research and shop around. Who knows, it may bring you right to CarMax (if it does, ask for Bruce).

I had been shopping on and off line for months and I finally found the car that met all of my wants on-line Thursday night. It was in Ft. Myers and I was in Naples. I went in to Naples office Friday AM. The guy that greeted me at the door was Terry Cardinal. I told him the story. He said "Let me make this easy for you". I had an hour and a half before work. He looked up the car; qualified me for financing etc. I told him I could pick it up Monday morning. He picked up the car in Fort Myers over the week-end. Had it here Monday AM before work. In less than two hours I drove away in the new car. They paid a fair price for my 18 year old beater in trade. Best car experience I have ever had and I am 64 years old and have had like about a dozen at least. If the Lord allows me just a few more, I will buy every one of them here!!! The car was less expensive than many that I had reviewed. Turned out the reason was likely that it was a "smoker". I thought they should have attempted to clean it up. They might have gotten an extra thousand out of it. Anyway, after perusing the internet on the subject, 3 boxes of baking soda poured liberally over all the upholstery and carpets (then vacuumed up the next morning) and then a couple of pounds of Costco coffee beans in Tupperware placed strategically throughout did the trick. Not sure why they couldnt do this, but I think it saved me a thousand bucks. Try it.

This was my first time buying a car. We went to many different dealerships, and CarMax was one of the friendliest we looked in. We arrived later in the evening during a weekday, and were greeted at the door. My mother had bought a car here a few months prior, so we immediately knew where to go. All the cars were unlocked and we could look inside all of them. Picked out three to test drive that very night. We had a very friendly salesman, Austin, and he wasnt pushy and was very accommodating. Understood that we wanted to keep looking and comparing, and when we came back a week or so later unscheduled he remembered us as well as the car we were interested in. We were going to possibly finance a different vehicle from a different location, but ended up finding a newer model that had arrived only a day or two prior. After a quick check on its history which Austin printed out no problem for us to keep and document, and after a test drive I ended up driving home in my new to me car. The pricing was fair, and the process was very quick and easy. I would recommend this CarMax to anyone. Very friendly staff, clean facility, and the pricing was fair and even cheaper compared to nearby competitors.

Naples customers, stay away from CarMax. Dont believe the Autocheck history I know for a fact that most of those cars have a bad Carfax history. I used to work there and I myself purchased a car that had a clean autocheck and a fire history on Carfax. I sold a car to a friend that had a clean autocheck and then we found out that it had been in two accidents with Carfax. They state the cars are inspected to make sure they dont have flood or frame damage. Thats a bunch of bull I sold 3 cars that had been taken by the customers to be inspected at the manufacturer and came back with frame damage and a coworker sold 2. Thats 5 cars with just 2 sales guys. We didnt have any idea of the frame damage. Those are just the ones that have been inspected. So if you purchased a car from CarMax go spend the money to have your car inspected for frame damage and if it comes back with frame damage go get your money back and tell everyone about what happened to you and tell anyone you know to stay away. The prices are high and you will get a better deal at a traditional dealership even though you have to go thru all the back and fourth.
