Very spacious and large store just like the one in Orlando. Learned about the Academy brand when I was staying in Georgia and I originally thought it was a school related building because of its name. When I looked closer I saw that it was a sports store and decided to check it out. Glad to see one here in Florida as more competition between Dicks & Sports Authority = better prices for the customers. I would say Academy is on par in terms of brands and types of merchandise available with the two other big names, except I found Academy to be way better stocked. It also appeared to be much larger than the other two as well and I found more clearance items at Academy. The staff here arent as helpful or friendly as the ones in Orlando. I was planning on purchasing a bicycle and asked an associate about warranty and return policy and he had no clue. He only told me that "you should be fine if anything happens" and that "people have returned bikes from Christmas a month later." What in the world? I dont care what others have done, I want to know what your store policy is. He shouldve went to another associate or manager to verify but I guess he was too lazy. Pretty pathetic! I was going to ask customer service but there was a line of people returning things so I just left. Great selection and clean store, but subpar customer service and lack of competence.

Where do we start. First they need to realize that modern handguns are capable of being dry fired with out any repercussions. It also an important thing when someone is buying a gun. But nope no dry fire. Second the background check process is long compared to a regular gun shop. They also register, that right register, the gun you bought in their system. Lastly when you endured all the shenanigans and long time with clueless sales people, they parade you out the door like a little preschool child with your handgun and hand it to you only when your outside the door of the store. This policies make me feel like I been labeled as a person with incompetence and theyre the think for me. I suggest going to Southern Guns as they wont treat you with disrespect and take time to answer all your questions and make the process of a gun purchase fast and easy. In short this store lost about 3000$ from me due to the policies and the incompetent people that hate their life working in the store.

Disappointed with this Academy. My wife and I went there to purchase my wife a pair of Merrell hiking boots for her birthday and even though there was someone in the shoe dept he never offered us assistance. We finally found a pair showing $69.00 on sale for $59.00 and after about 20 minutes trying on different sizes decided to purchase a pair. When we got to the cashier she said the price was $99.00. We both stated that the price showed on sale for $59.00. My wife went back to the shoe depart to show the salesman while the cashier called back to the sales person. When my wife got to the shoe depart she noticed the salesman had the pricetag in his hand which he hurrily pulled off the display for the shoes we wanted to purchase. We decided to just leave without making our other purchases. We are very dissappointed with Academy.

Worst customer service ever....spent 15 mins trying to find an associate on the floor to get help with something and wasnt able to finally went to the gun counter to find someone to help in apparel and he was no help then after I gave up on that, then I took my purchase to the front to pay only to find no one at the registers that were open even after standing around for a few mins at which point I see 3 associates at the customer service desk talking to each other with there backs turned. I proceed to go to customer service to pay and get nowhere...the 3 associates were still talking with their backs turned when 1 looks at us at the register and instead of one of them ringing us up they continuedont to talk amongst each other...I finally had it threw my stuff down and walked out!!!! WILL NEVER SHOP THERE AGAIN

We just had an amazing service experience here. We came to the store to look at some knee braces for my brother who has Cerebral Palsy and just had surgery on his hamstrings. Owen, the young man who helped us was extremely helpful and patient its very rare for us to find people like that anywhere. He was very helpful and gave us great suggestions as to what to use. We found a great combination of a sleeve and brace for my brother that helps stabilize his knee and keep the brace in place. Thank you so much for the help and well definitely be shopping here more often.

Very clean store, only one electric scooter for disabled and one regular wheelchair. My only complaint is there isnt many sales people to help with your needs. Customer service is amazing tho, no problems with orders online and they didnt make me feel bad for returning shoes that had the tag removed. Ill definitely return as they have a pretty amazing stock of everything, and if they dont you get it shipped to your house for free.

Went in to exchange a bike bought for my son that he got 3 weeks ago at Christmas and they had none of the same ones. None in price comparison and when we asked to speak to a manager she did not have time to talk to us. Worst customer service I have ever experienced. I didnt want a free bike, but a discount for the new bike would have been nice. It was not my fault the gears literally fell apart.

Was a very horrible experience me and my son was labeled soon as we walk in the store as people who should not be there there are people who are talking in walkie talkies about people who they dont think look correct the alarm was also set of purposely when we were exiting the store i would never return and advise every one i know not also.lake mary store

The sales representative was sarcastic and snarky. The store also charged me 45 dollars simply for transfer and fees. This is an arbitrary amount made by them. This was ridiculous and I will bypass the convenience and pricing here next time. I will drive further and spend more simply to know that I will not be gouged by this terrible store.

I attempted to call the store several times to find out if they carried an item I was looking for an item... called apparel... no answer.. .called back dialed zero ...no answer... called back again... no answer... guess I will take my business to someone else...by the way... the item I was looking for was over $500 just saying...

Unreliable. I called this morning to have them hold a pair of shoes,the associate told me they would hold them for 24 hours. Arrived not even 5 hours later and they put them back on the self. Got lucky there was one pair left. VERY dissapointed. Only a three star because their prices are better than most places.

Always have had great customer service here... they have just about everything you can want in a neighborhood sporting goods store. Between Academy and Discks probably the reason why Sports Authority closed. Academy has a much bigger selection than Dicks in every department.
