As I was growing up, I had the experience of my family personally knowing the Barnetts (Barnett Jewelers) and the Underwoods (Underwood Jewelers). Jareds has come the closest of any "big box" jeweler in providing that personalized one to one experience found in the smaller locally owned and operated stores. As in ANY field, the associates have varying levels of knowledge and experience but they are all knowledgeable in their respective areas. We have experienced very few "negative" issues and, on that rare occasion, almost all of them have been resolved in-store and to our satisfaction. There is one associate that I want to especially commend; Ms Rebecca McDonald! She provides a level of customer attention and service unsurpassed. With my background, it is sometimes hard to find someone whos not blowing smoke just to make the sale. Her knowledge of gem stones in general and diamonds specifically is second to none. Her personalized attention while she serves you is awesome! While she works WITH you, you get the feeling that there is no one else in the store and you are treated with the same courtesy and respect as any celebrity! I am not a fan of long reviews; reading or writing them. Most people never read past the first paragraph anyway; especially if the paragraph is longer than a couple or three sentences. However, this is one that deserves a longer review. In general, I read whatever reviews are available, if any, and compare them with my own experience before writing one. ALL reviews, including mine, are written from a tainted perspective. These views are generally based on three criteria and apply as both customer and provider: 1) Unfulfilled expectations 2) Knowledge of the industry 3) Past experiences across the board Most of the time, I shake my head in disbelief and ask myself "where are these people from?" Jareds reviews are no different. Just like car salesmen are NOT mechanics and department store sporting goods "associates" are NOT experts in the outdoors industries, neither are jewelry store salesmen for the most part. Each industry is different and unique in and of itself. Further, you cannot expect the same level of individual attention at the "big box" retailer as you would (should) find at the smaller locally "O&O" jewelers. If you are in that <10% who can afford to drop $15k+ on a piece of jewelry and you want that "small jeweler" experience, then go there. Jareds has come the closest of providing that level of experience that I have found without actually going to a small local owner operated store! There are a number of pitfalls in the "straight commission" occupations. Two of them are the pressure to make the sale (both from the employer and of necessity) and the long term experience in the field. Neither of these excuse poor customer service. Understand though that, in the end, these people are the same as we... human and imperfect. You never know what has transpired prior to your encounter with them. If you experience a "negative" experience, back up, take a breath and rethink. Then, if necessary, punt. Sometimes, thats all you can do.

My fiance bought my beautiful ring at Jared in Des Moines, IA and I have nothing but good things to say about that store. Im from Michigan and have had nothing but good experiences at the South Bend, IN location. However, here in Jacksonville I have had nothing but terrible experiences. When I first arrived in JAX it needed to take my rings in for their "6 month check up" (in August 2015) the people working took a good 5+ minutes before anyone asked if I needed anything, then I was repeatedly told we will be right with you. Granted I did just come from work and looked like a bit of a hot mess, but that shouldnt matter. During this same check up in August 2015 the person working couldnt get the computer to update that I brought my rings in, wrote it on paper telling me if I lost the paper my warranty would be void, even though I was there and had the rings inspected. In Dec 2015 I came to Jared in JAX to buy my fiances wedding band and again was handed off between 3 different sales associates before I could get anyone to let me look at the ring I wanted to buy. I stood at the counter and was again told someone will be right with you and at one point asked to scoot over so a young woman and man could look at the rings I was standing by waiting to be helped. Once I finally got someones attention I was handed the ring and told 5 months was too short to order and I would have to buy it right here and now. I didnt have a problem with this as I had planned on buying that day. I just felt very pushed off to the side, I understand a $600 purchase is probably a drop in the hat compared to some other customers, but it was a big deal for me. Most recently in Feb 2016 I went in again for my "6 month check up" was told we can just steam your ring and inspect it, we dont have to actually look at your wedding and as you havent worn it yet, and we dont need to look at the mens wedding band since it doesnt have any diamonds. I repeatedly asked to make sure, since I spent extra money on the protection plan/warranty for my fiances band if I needed any paperwork stating I brought it in, I was told no. While the man was working on my ring he left the station X2 to go check on another customer or tell other associates to help those customers, Im not upset about that, but I would have liked to feel like I was a bit of a priority and not a burden. I will also be very upset if any of my warranties "void" because the ring wasnt really inspected when I took it in. Overall, I have had wonderful experiences in Iowa and Indiana, but horrible experiences in JAX.

I purchased my rings from a customer jeweler in Atlanta for $15k. I took them to Jareds in Town Center in Jacksonville, Florida to get them sized, tightened and cleaned for the wedding. I only had the rings 3 months when I took them there. Since I was unable to drive to Atlanta to get the work done, I took them to Jareds since I purchased my husbands wedding band there and other jewelry in the past. The ring was a size 7 and I needed it sized to a 5 on both the engagement ring and wedding band. I was very nervous to leave my rings with anyone overnight, but trusted a well known company. What they did not tell me was that sizing the ring this far down would pull them diamonds closer and weaken the tightness on the diamonds. I got married 4 1/2 months later. As I started to wear the rings, I lost 4 diamonds and now three more are coming out. I called and called the store requesting assistance. I could barely get a call back. I then drove from Key Largo back to the store in Jacksonville 6 hours to show the managers. By this point I was 2 weeks over the 6 months deadline for repairs although I was calling for weeks! The manager would not help me. He wanted to charge me over $1k to fix the ring stating the quality of the ring was compromised and the brackets were weak holding the diamonds in place. He also mentioned a gouge in the inside where sized and asked who did the work after them. I replied only them. I wrote the corporate office a letter and emailed customer service asking for help. I would even consider paying half the cost even though it was clearly there fault just to get my rings fixed so I can wear them again. They of course sent a response that they would not help since I was just over the 6 months time-frame and would take no responsibility for the damages. I am floored at the customer service experience I had there. I have to make a trip to Atlanta and I live in Key Largo now to get them fixed. I cant believe the way they treated me and handled this situation. I refuse to pay their crappy store money for something they did. I usually never write a complaint unless its really needed. I do NOT recommend shopping With this store or Jareds. I would purchase elsewhere and be VERY cautious when getting any work done at their stores.
