Im writing this review on behalf of my mother, she went to Costco today in Clearwater to get my glasses prescription filled. She waited for 30 minutes, when "Kim" finally asked what did you need? Mom replied I need to fill the glasses prescription. "Kim" said, "that would take time so she has to wait and come back in another 30 minutes when other associates are here." "Kim, manager of optician department" basically informed her in a rude manner that she has other appointments ahead of her and what my mother needed would take to long and for her to come back, so other associates would assist her. So, my mom walked around the store and came back in 30 minutes as Kim told her too. When my mom came back she was waiting No associates were there, & Kim was still with another customer, she ignored my mom did not acknowledge my mom. So my moms thought this is ridiculous and walked away and went to get prescription filled somewhere else. When my mom told me what had happened more in detail the manager "Kim" was rude, and did not have qualities of good customer service. I was upset because my mom went through this for an hour for nothing, I called Costco to speak to the manager at the time didnt know Kim was the manager I told her what happened she than replied with lies, and informed me that-that was her/manager and than she was arguing with me on the phone about what I was saying, she talked over me she was very rude and I couldnt believe I was being spoke to in this manner. I said, " Mam, let me speak to your Store Manager Im not going to argue with you. She than put me on hold she wanted my name and phone number I said no. Let me speak to store manager, she than replied hes on vacation I said okay when will he be back on vayca, she said next week so I said goodbye ended the conversation there. Long story short, my recommendation Is to not deal with Optician department, I get contacts filled there also and now have to go somewhere where I feel Im getting the best customer service which Im entitled for. Costco should be informed how employees are representing there company and to make changes where customer service qualities are lacking. Customers are always right, my mother situation and also my phone call could have been handled better. She could apologized and stated Im swamped, there was no respect for the customer or any care.

I usually dont go to social media for this kind of thing. However, today is a different story. I went into Costco today in Clearwater, Fl. There were two elderly women in front of who looked to be in their 80s. They only had one item, a rotisserie chicken. Total $4.99 plus tax. The lady said oh I cant find my card! She was in a state of panic and even dumped the entire continents other purse on the conveyor belt in front of me. When I realized what was going on, I said to her "dont worry, Im going to buy your chicken for you" the cashier named Gery K. Said "YOU CANT DO THAT" I said excuse me? Im going to buy her chicken, she cant find her card. He replied to me again you cant do that. I took the chicken from the ladies hand and said well since she cant buy it Ive decided I want to buy a chicken and Im taking hers. HE WOULD NOT LET ME. His only reply was thy need to go to custom service and get their Costco card replaced if they cant find it and then they can get back in line to buy this. Are you kidding me?!?! My blood was fuming! His attitude was the worst part, no empathy for the 2 older women who this was stressing out. Or no compassion. Some employee- some business ethic if thats how it works. I can imagine this being my mother in law, and the stress it would ensue over what was their dinner tonight. Shame on him and shame on Costco practices for letting the employees get away with this and this supposedly being policy. Ive been through his line before and hes not very polite, today finished the thoughts I had of him. My family have been long time Costco fanatics and do the majority of our weekly shopping there. Since moving to Florida, we have been sorely disappointed with this Costco and especially its produce. We have had to take back item after item because we realize once we get home that there are mold spots covering fruit and vegetables. We have opened bananas a day after purchase and have had to throw half of them away because they were brown. A pineapple we purchased was so mushy that most of it was unable to be used. Last week we were replacing tomatoes that were bad and when we looked for new ones we were disgusted to find that almost every single package of tomatoes we picked up had mold. We came back to return the old tomatoes and during the returns process, a manager came over and when we expressed our concern over the bad produce, he only commented that they had not had an unusual amount of returns on produce lately. We just opened a watermelon bought two days ago that tasted gritty and flavorless like it had been sitting out for a long time. The staff at this store are, for the most part, extremely friendly and its a shame that their products take away from that. Just be careful when picking up produce from this Costco!!

VISION CENTER EXCELLENT SERVICE!!! In spite of the negative review we saw today we called this location. We spoke with the manager regarding contacts and glasses. She took a great deal of time to answer all of our questions and also was very nice and professional. I strongly disagree with the other review done today. There are customer service appreciation awards for this manager and her location all over the optical center there. It is a shame that people will take the time to write bad reviews regarding good hard working people and not the time to write good reviews such as this. Also, this is our first experience with this location and staff, and I felt compelled to let the manager know at the end of our conversation regarding the bad review, as again, she had done such an excellent job in working with us. She informed that she was aware of the customer who wrote the review today and said she had done everything she possibly could to appease them as they were not willing to be patient, reasonable and/or wait their turn. I would have to say from my experience I have no reason to doubt her. We would both highly recommend this location and its staff. Thank you for the wonderful service today!

I have been a costco member for years, and have been to different branches all over FL and even NY. I noticed that the CLearwater branch on several occasions that I have been there, only scrutinizes the receipts of minorities. All caucasians are allowed to stroll out and their purchases are barely glanced over, while minorities, and mostly black people as a whole are given the third degree, with their items being cheked one at a time. This is embarassing and only happens it that location. I am an RN and manage a multi-million dollar business business and to have some half baked idiot look down on me simply because I am black is highly disturbing. Thieves happen in all races and breeds and for them to only single out minorities is wrong. But I guess they get the order from their management. But then again this is Central Florida where in-breeding and racism is the norm.....But my family will never ever visit that store again. And I am still contemplating a formal complaint about it.
