BEWARE: My fiancé and I pawned a like-new $500 iPhone 5S at Silas Deane Pawn. We were given only $50 for it. We returned two days later to retrieve it. The screen is now SEPARATED from the body and *severely* chipped. An EMPLOYEE at the store clearly dropped it or damaged it in some other way because it was like-new when we dropped it off. Someone at the store ruined our phone. It looks like they were using it as a hockey puck. The damage is not just cosmetic either: The thumbnails are flickering and my photos are now flip-flopping back and forth at random. I have no idea how long its going to remain even semi-usable. I got the phone out of the pawn to sell to a friend and now its basically an expensive paper weight because an employee had butter fingers. Its shameful they didnt just come clean about damaging it when we picked it up (it was wrapped up when we retrieved it and we foolishly didnt open it up to inspect it because we trusted them). I repeat: It was in like-new condition. We are very careful with our electronics and the phone had never been dropped or treated roughly before we took it to Silas Deane Pawn. When we returned and paid the 300% interest rate fee to get the phone back it was SEVERELY DAMAGED and I cannot re-sell it. I strongly recommend that you go elsewhere to pawn your goods. Not only did the staff damage our device, they didnt know what the heck it was when we initially dropped it off! Nobody in the store knew what they were talking about or understood the difference between an iPhone 5 and an iPhone 5S when we brought it in to pawn it. Other than the horrible customer service and ruining our phone, the store is awful. Its small, dank, and they have a terrible selection of goods. The only things they appear to sell much of are weed-eaters, overpriced used CDs, overpriced Cabbage Patch dolls, a hilarious collection of mint in box NSync barbie dolls, and other random (overpriced) items. Take your business elsewhere if you need to pawn something- you wont get much for your item here and if you choose to buy it back it might return to you damaged with no explanation. Take your business elsewhere if youre looking for a good deal on anything. Their selection of goods is mediocre and overpriced (unless you want a Joey Fatone doll in the box...hes $9.99).

First off I cant say enough about the employees at Silas Dean Pawn Shop in Wethersfield ct my experiences here have been nothing short of amazing. Every time I come in to the store they always make a point to say hello and ask how I am doing and if they can help me with anything. Thank you for everything Klejdi, Elsie, Monica, Sam, Louise,The Griffmeister a man with a special personality lmao, Dennis and Nick. Ive been doing business with them for 10 plus years and no matter what they always manage to find a way to help me out. Ive read some reviews about them some good some not so good and all I have a to say to all the people with negative comments is I imagine you came in to do business with unrealistic expectations and were either being difficult or not being honest and on the up and up so I can imagine you received the service that you deserved these guys are great and deal with alot of people so I imagine they have seen it all.So a word to the wise and keep in mind treat people with the same dignity and respect that you want to be treated with I imagine you will find your experiences in life with change for the good 10 fold. And as far as honesty I have brought a lot of items into the shop and I mean alot like 300+ and in the moment of trying to do some large pickups as you can imagine things have been forgotten about on my end and I cant tell you that on a hand full of days Ive gone in to do business and heard Elsie or another employee say hay Jason we have something for you and to my surprise they return something that I paid for months ago and completely forgotten about only to be reminded that I have a item that I needed to take with me this time!!! Nothing short of amazing o would have never remembered but always had my stuff given back and in my opinion most if not every other place would have just kept it but not these guys.So thanks for all the great service and friends I have been lucky to meet at the Silas Dean Pawn Shop these guys and the business they are running are nothing short of amazing thank you guys for everything Jason Ramsey

These people are crooks, I spoke with the owner and I told him that I wanted to pawn my camera and he agreed. So my camera was given to a lady and she put it into the system. I came back 30 days later and found out the lady put it in as sold instead of pawn. One of the guys came to me and said that I sold it and acted like he own the place and trying to put that Im stupid. They dont have my camera anymore and theres nothing that can be done. I called an spoke to the owner and he said hell give me a deal on a new camera. I thought this was ridiculous because I said pawn not sold loud and clear to them and the lady made a mistake. Now Im out of an expensive camera. If you go here wanting to pawn an item be cautious and make it loud and clear because if you dont theyll screw you over. I know they made a mistake because the lady who out it into the system was there and she gave me the "oh crap" look and a friend of mine who was with me at the time when I had the camera is a witness who stated that I said Pawn. If they make a mistake they wont acknowledge it.

An excellent experience. Walked in and right away a gentleman was extremely friendly and courteous. I had brought in a few electronics, some of which were in very nice condition. He offered me an excellent price for the bin of things I brought in. The woman behind the counter handing out the money was also very friendly and kind. She was referring to the woman in front of me very casually and respectfully, keeping friendly with everybody waiting in line, and extremely courteous when finally giving me my bill. The nicest thing was, when I called back a few days later, this same woman answered and was equally as friendly on the phone. I thought it would be a rarity for a pawn shop employee to be so polite on the phone answering a random question, especially when rudeness can come from the most "upscale" forms of business. I felt very welcome there and would be happy to come again, provided I bring quality goods that I know they can use and benefit from.

NEVER GO THERE IF YOUR A RESPECTFUL PERSON!!!! Treated me like a crack head. Went the the Wallingford location. They offered me a decent amount for a ring I was selling not a pawn. Told them I was going to shop around to maybe get around what I was looking to get for it. Next day I went to the same place but the Cromwell location just for hahas the KID came out hes about 19 years old and just looked at the GIA not even the diamond and said he would only buy for 1500 less than the other store would. I should have put a piece of glass in it and sold it to him for what he told me he would pay. Not once did he look at the stone. And they said that was there diamond expert. Lmao what BULLSHIT. kid is a bum. I dont even need the money just wanted it gone. They treated me like I was selling yard equipment. Lol word to the wise dont go there.
