As casual cyclists, my wife and I felt it was time to get really good-fitting helmets, update the lighting on our bikes after seeing the visibility of cyclists who had LED lights, and to get advice on a bicycle rack for our car. Chad and Lou were very helpful and very friendly. Some years ago, at a different shop (now out of business), I was treated with diffidence because I wasnt there to spend several thousands on a bike. At New Canaan Bicycles, the staff took the time to make sure we got the proper equipment, particularly the helmets, and to answer our questions. They examined our car to determine the best bicycle rack.We had a little trouble finding the shop because although the address is 96 Park St. in New Canaan, the shop doesnt actually face Park St. but faces the parking lot behind the stores that front Park Street. Entrance to that parking lot isnt too visible, either. The sloping driveway to the lot is on the north side of Cherry Street between Park St. and South Ave.

The honest truth is there are several good bicycle shops in Fairfield County. But I took the time to leave a review here, because New Canaan Bicycles is a great bike shop. All shops know customer service is their bread and butter, and NCB certainly excel in that area. In a recent weekend visit, there was a flurry of activity, but everyone seemed to get exactly what they were looking for. From child learners, and adult cyclists just starting out, these guys are a great resource for advice and direction. They have an excellent product line. What is surprising to me is, as an ex racer and someone who really is fascinated with the very high end of the cycling product range, these guys have that covered as well. From exotic european brands, to home-grown brands like Felt, there are lots of choices for riders of all levels.

Lou has been helping our family of five to ride and have fun on our bikes for many years. Lou has performed all types of service on our bikes. Lou Kozar and his crew have always given me exceptional service at the New Canaan Bicycles shop. From helping me find a bike to replacing a tire, he is always there to provide his customers his best service. Just today for example, on my limited lunch hour, I went in and he replaced a rim that was damaged. I did not have to wait long and was impressed that he could take care of it that quickly. Finally, I use the shop for my annual tune up too. Lou, can even home deliver your bike after the tune up. In short, I recommend this place highly and know you will be happy with your service there too!

Lou is a very relaxed and understated guy , who knows everything there is to know about bikes. I have a cervelo R-5 which which has had degraded performance over the last several years , even though I had taken in for service to several high end shops. Long story, got a flat in New canaan, remembered some one told me there was a new shop in New Canaan ,Lou fixed it immediatly and had me on my. He mentioned some other issues. brought it back. Lou has been an invaluable resource. Apart from offering highly competent service, when he last serviced my bike he discovered that the rear wheel showed a crack I hadnt seen. Clearly the wheel had to be fixed or replaced at the earliest. He then provided one of his own wheels as a "loaner" at no charge for as long as it took for me to replace my wheel. He always offers good pre-emptive advice. To someone as mechanically inept as me it is worth a great deal. Lou-- keep up the good work!

It is soo nice to have a bike shop back in New Canaan- especially someone who is at the top of their game. I took both of my bikes in for service and could not have been happier. Both bikes came back to me clean, and shifting better than new. It was a real pleasure doing business with Lou Kozar. He also invited me on his Sunday rides, great time and what a work out. Cycles on Call offers a great service. Lou is an attentive owner who is enthusiastic about his service. He did exactly what he said he would do and when he would do it. It is odd to leave your expensive bicycle outside to be picked up and repaired by a stranger, but Lou was completely trustworthy and reliable. This is an amazingly convenient, friendly and high quality service! Lou does wonderful work. He is incredibly prompt and very trustworthy. My bike sat broken in my garage for years, until he came by, picked it up and fixed it. Ive gotten a ton of use out of my bike now and am really happy with his service.
