Twas a warm afternoon on September 15th. Dinner had been finished when I looked over at Bae and stated the obvious, "I want something sweet." After constructive arguing, the theme wafted of... ice cream. I regressed to a dark memory of a dust-old cone (too hard to bite comfortably) with heavy chocolate and creme at Cold Stone leaving me filled with regret for having allowed overworked, under-paid teens, to serve me a corporate mutation of a desert. We got the car and I look over at bae and say, "maybe we can get desert at the grocery store and pick up things we need as well... " feeling defeated for hopes of a nice place for desert. But, a braver soul in me turned left onto conflax and then right into Nuggs. We walk in and... it was quiet, not busy but not awkward. A gaze at all the flavors, still doubtful for my hopes... I tell Bae go to first. I try a flavor, and another. Not heavy and just the right amount of sweet. My mind immediately goes to "cup" when I hear Bae take the initiative and say, "Cone Please." A coin drops in my mind. I think to myself, "how foolish of her" when I see the young worker begin to make a fresh cone from batter. Baffled, my inner-child begins to surface from what felt like darkened abyss. Ignorant bliss fills my head with possibilities and wonders of the world when I respond to the attendent, "...yes, cone also..." 5 minutes go by and Im at cone-ice-creme level when I take a bite and am baffled by how light and complementing the cone is to the flavor and I feel a youthful-like exuberance fill my sensations in a way desert never has before. Within 10 MINUTES, its gone... I enter my house lay on the bed where Bae and I had constructively argued before... Happy, that I live in a world with Nuggs.

Park Hill has a new and apparently only ice cream shop. The outside seating and patio are nice. The wide benches are comfy. There are tables and umbrellas as well. Inside is plain nothing special. There is no signage to identify the flavors. There are some nostalgic-looking stickers above the counter, decoration or flavors? The staff is nice with quick service. The ice cream is blah at best. I tasted several flavors and they all tasted the same. Blah. I ended up getting chocolate and reeses in a cup. The chocolate had ice crystals on it, so just before being freezer burned. The reeses had mini and sparse imitation peanut butter cups inside a blah vanilla ice cream. The ice cream neither tastes fresh nor homemade. It tastes like it came out of a machine and a pre made packet. Sorry, but I wasnt impressed. Yay, an ice cream shop in Park Hill. Boo, the ice cream is blah.

Weve had two disappointing interactions with Nuggs. Both times we were extremely excited because my husband is allergic to dairy and their website boasts vegan flavors and a caring concern for those with food allergies. The first time was at a public event, so we understood when their ice cream truck had limited flavors but no vegan options. My husband was eagerly anticipating our visit to their storefront, but when we got there, they said they had no vegan/dairy free ice cream options available. Major let down. We get it if youre an ice cream shop: being allergic to dairy we wont be your ideal customers. But when you advertise that providing yummy ice cream for people with allergies is core to your identity, and then fail to deliver, Its a huge disappointment. We wont be back. :(

Amazing, awesome, an oasis on Colfax for all those lost and bedraggled. Found it by accident, best accident of my life. I thought at first that I was in a Twilight Zone episode and that it would be gone the next time I arrived. Spoiler alert- IT WAS STILL THERE. Theyre very accepting of loud conversations, and their prices and customer service are great. The atmosphere is cheery as can be! Come to Nuggs! Bring your friends, your family, your aunts, uncles, distant relatives, neighbors, dates, enemies, time traveling future selves, and anyone else who might enjoy some generous servings of high quality ice cream and other frozen-y treats. I really love Nuggs!

Service on point! The staff were super friendly and helpful. We tried the blue moon, which tasted a bit like fruit loops, but opted to go with the toasted coconut. Im a sucker for coconut ice cream, and this one was great! Lots of coconut flakes in the scoop I had, and my brother-in-law, who is picky with his ice cream and flavors, loved the pint we got for him. The ice cream we had was definitely on the creamier side, and the scoops are huge!

Amazing chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream. The actual ice cream is cookie dough flavored so youre not just hanging around in vanilla-land waiting for a drop of cookie dough to mozy through. My boyfriend got salted caramel which wasnt quite as good and somehow got mint mixed in (by accident we presumed). He did say the waffle cones were aMaZeBaLLs though. They make them on a waffle iron in front of you! Go there. Now.

Nuggs has amazing local ice cream. The staff is always friendly and helpful. They offer samples of their flavors and many options including dairy-free choices. Their cookies and cream is a vanilla base ice-cream but it has so much Oreo in it the ice cream looks and tastes like chocolate- best Ive ever had! Note that they are open until 10pm in the winter but 11pm in the summer!

Best ice cream in Denver. Best staff in Denver. These guys are always in a good mood, make you smile, remember you, and somehow make waiting in line fun. Thats not easy to do. Im still surprised at their pricing every time I checkout. I would expect to pay more for what Im getting, but their pricing is very competitive. Definitely give these guys a try.

This is the best ice bream parlor I have ever been to. The staff are so friendly and kind. They make you fee very invited and welcomed to the establishment. Plus, the ice cream is amazing. Your waffle cone is made to order. I recommend this place all the time to my friends. I am going to visit them tonight after the movies. See you guys soon!!

RUN...dont walk (well its a great destination for a walk) but this place is so amazing, you will want to run. They make their own root beer, they make their waffle cones, they have coffee...and they have ICE CREAM!! Amazing staff, owners did a great job staffing this place. And dont forget your punch card.

New favorite ice cream place! The service was fantastic, friendly and quick. I tried two flavors both were delicious. I cant wait to come back to try some more. This place isnt cheap, but the ice cream is so high quality it is worth the price. For about 4 dollars I got a large scoop of deliciousness.

This is a great little find! First off they sell my favorite coffee, Pablos. Secondly, they are open until 11 in the summer. Amazing. The staff is super friendly and knowledgable. They have some personality and seem like they love their job. Just a great place to go. We will definitely be back!!

This place lacks decent management and employees. Very rude attitudes, and very poor customer service. Tastes like a two year old develops flavors, and by far one of the worst ice cream experiences I have ever had. And its pretty hard to mess up something as amazing as ice cream. Never go here!!
