This mall should be called "The Shitadel" instead. It used to be a nice place to go and shop the day away but now its full of thugs, unsupervised kids, problem teenagers and booming music blasting from unprofessional stores and center-isle kiosks that have employees that only stop listening to their gangster rap on their cell phones to bother you every time you walk by. If everything else were perfect, the bothersome kiosk attendants would be enough to keep me from going into that mall. They have gotten too pushy and its out of control. The big department stores have all but vanished with Dillards calling it quits just recently. DILLARDS! The type of customer that Dillards relies on is no longer comfortable shopping at this mall. There have been several instances of robbery at gunpoint and other crimes in the parking lots of the mall and in the surrounding ghetto. Its in one of, if not the worst neighborhoods in the city. The sand creek PD is the most overrun of all of the precincts in CS and its only logical to think that those causing the local issues will find themselves inside of this doomed mall. Its sad to see it fall but its time to give up and pack it in. Close this mall and build the community center this neighborhood needs. If you choose to shop here, dont go alone and be prepared to defend yourself from the ruthless sales clerks that stand in wait around every corner! Go to the slightly better off Chapel Hills mall or take the nice drive to The Outlets at Castle Rock. I even frequent the Park Meadows mall on the south side of Denver. The Citadel is so shitty, that we would rather drive to Castle Rock or Denver to visit a mall. That alone should tell you all you need to know.

Honestly Im not really sure why some commenters are hating so much on this mall. It seems like a typical average American mall. Sure there are some closed storefronts, but there are still quite a few present - name brand as well as locally owned. Take a look at my pictures I literally just took today (14 Mar 17) to browse whats there. It looked pretty clean and modern to me, but then again Ive been in some pretty run-down places in my life. Not a huge fan of the second story being kind of split in two, but meh. I saw a lot of people walking in and out of stores with leashed dogs, and not service dogs. Not sure what the pet policy inside is, but I assume they let people just bring dogs in freely, so if thats not a thing you like, maybe not the best shopping location for you. I went into Spencers where I saw some teens... and also a whole wall of sex toys. I wasnt aware things had changed so much during the mere two years I spent in Japan, but hey I guess culture progression? The food court was fairly impressive to me, with a wide variety of choices, though staff training Im beginning to realize in this area generally is underwhelming. I had to explain to a chocolate shop worker what a sampler was. I dont think my expectations are usually too high, but common knowledge isnt that difficult to obtain, is it? In any case, I wouldnt knock this mall without checking it out yourself, and youll only be disappointed if youre used to major city expectations. If thats the case, then enjoy the drive to Denver :)

Wow! I was at the mall after not having been there in over a year. How sad. Most of the stores are closed. It seems like there are more empty spaces than full ones. In the food court, the cookie place is gone but they have 2 Mexican places right next to each other. I love Mexican food but I cant imagine having then next to each other is good for business. The people at the kiosks are more aggressive than ever to get business & its a bit annoying to try to get past them. Lastly, Dillards is not even open on Mondays anymore. The rest of the days theyre only open from noon to 7pm. Id be surprised if the Citadel last more than another few years.

This mall has gone completely downhill over the years. With the exception of a few recognizable stores, most of the storefronts are either empty/boarded up, or are mom & pop dress shops, barber shops/salons or knick knack stores. The public restrooms leave much to be desired (like a good deep cleaning and a stock of toilet paper)! Even the parking lot has taken a dive (pot holes, lights out). Perhaps I am biased, as I grew up going to this mall and remember when it was packed and lively (not to mention pristine). But recently, I make it a point not to visit, unless it is to a store that doesnt have another location near by.

Ah, as I am reminded of reading these reviews, everything is relative. It is only the sheltered people from CO or a small town in KS who have never seen a real bad area in a real big city that thinks this mall is unsafe or that they have to watch their back. Malls, like Walmart, are simply no longer chichi and -- who goes to malls ?? -- teenagers. Anyway, this mall is non-crowded, has a couple department store, a bed-bath-and beyond, a proactive portable, and a pretty darned decent food court. I actually like it better than the chapel hills mall.... Nothing to be scared of here.

If so then change the way you are really u gotta take a long hard look at your self and think your not better then anyone else on this world ya the truth hurts but you will ve a better person / community around

Older indoor shopping mall. It isnt as pleasant as the other indoor shopping mall in town. A lot of mall rats hang out here, especially around the food court area. Had a shooting about a year ago, and the parking lot is unnerving at night. It definitely shows its age in the hallways, like leading to the bathrooms. Macys pulled out a decade ago, leaving only 2 full time anchor stores left (JC Pennys and Burlington Coat Factory), and to some extent, Dillards, which is now the chains outlet center with shortens hours.

As far as shopping goes, its a nice mall. Lots of stores to shop in. Unfortunately, the management must be trying to save money on the air conditioning. The stuffy air in June is why I am only giving it two stars. Turn up the a/c just a little, please, tell the vendors that no means no so that I dont have to feign a phone conversation, and I will change this to a four star review. Contrary to what other customers posted, the Citadel does have a play area, and the greater majority of stores are open :).

From the inside, looks like it hasnt been remodeled in decades. Im convinced Fast Times at Ridgemont High was filmed here because everything in the food court looks straight out of the movie. Very un-updated. Kind of a nasty mall. And people get shot in the parking lot from time to time. But then again this mall has a sense of character not often found these days. And, there are few pretentious stores inside. When I shop at malls, I shop here. But the Springs doesnt have good shopping anywhere...
