petco tries to be competitive in its pricing structure, but this store let me down with their lack of yellow canned canidae inventory. when I suggested a larger order to the cashier / manager he chuckled and said, "the more we order the faster it will leave the shelves." I looked at him dumbfounded considering thats a great thing for any store. when Ive gone in there I bought 10-30 cans at a time since it sells out so quickly. I was basically told to be quicker when it hits the shelves so I did what any Internet savvy consumer does.... hits up amazon prime. the cans in the store are $2.39, but Im now paying $1.38 per can thru subscribe and save 15% off plus 5% amazon card rebate. thanks Asian dude! now my cans are delivered to me vs spending money in your store for not taking the time to take my request for an extra order of 24 cans a month seriously. thats almost an additional $689 a year petco will never see from me or my family again since I was forced to find an alternative source of dog food. the markup in store is $290 more than amazon prime atm. its a shame really since Id rather put money into west covina, but not when its a struggle to make it happen and employees are flippant with our plight to feed our pets. while $690 a year might not sound like much, multiply that amount by the other 10-40+ customers who have also seemed out alternative outlets for their canned dog food.... thats $690-$27,000 petco will not see in the future unless we need a can or two to tide us over until our monthly shipment. update. they have gone up to 4 stars since theyve had great deals in their aquatic section and have been priced competitively and have a 30 day return policy on fish. so you go up to 4 stars. Ill give you guys 5 stars once you can offer emailed receipts like petsmart. honestly, Im sick of walking out with paper receipts. Ill give petsmart 5 stars just for paperless receipts alone.

ive been going to this petco since i moved to the area about a year ago. by far, the absolute worst customer service of any store ever. they never have enough cashiers... if theres any... ive had to stand at the register for up to 10mins yelling into the store to see if theres anyone who could ring me up. dont stop by here if youre in a hurry, it will take at least half hr just to check out. and dog forbid you need assistance to get something from behind a locked display, then add at least another 20mins. .every time i tell the cashier what an inconvenience it is, and to let the manager know he needs to work on better staffing the store, but now even a year later, still the same hassle. i avoid this location whenever possible. also, extremely minimal selection for clothes.

This is for their grooming department. My mom took her teacup Yorkie for a trim. She even showed them a picture of what she wanted. Instead, they did the WORST job ever!!! They seemed to have used their clippers and shaved the dog down to about 1/4 in to the skin. Even her genital area was shaved, tail and all! Both my mom and her dog were traumatized. My mom was in shock and so was I when I saw the dog. She was unrecognizable. She put in a complaint but was told to wait for a call from the management. It took two days for her to get her money back. This was her first and LAST time there. Never again! I definitely wont take my dog either. Be warned... the groomers at the West Covina location are horrendous.

I gave this location two chances and enough is enough. The first time I went to buy fish. It took 10 minutes to get a guy who had no knowledge of fish, dropped the only fish I wanted on the floor, tried to overcharge me but saying it was a fish that it clearly wasnt. The second time I went for a return and dogfood. I had a receipt for my return and the store manager accused me of stealing in front of other customers!!! I was so embarrassed I took my returns and receipt and left! Never again will I shop at this location! Back to petsmart I go!

Today I went in to look for a cooling pad for my baby, I go up to the front to get a cart and the cashier an older guy says out loud your dog is FAT she needs to get on a DIET!!! WOW really first of all my dog has cancer and is on #chemo he needs to take classes on how to be nice to customers!!! He doesnt know what my dog is going thru or why she looks that way. People are just rude, because even before going in some tweens that were outside waiting for someone were laughing at my pup.

I have lived in the area for years and have never been as satisfied with the people here anywhere I have been. A guy helped me by the name of Mike Roe and he is extremely knowledgeable of all animals and products they have there. This guy is not only helpful but very HOT, Brad Pitt HOT. They have everything you need and a HOT guy to help you.

How complicated it can be to get an aquarium with fish? Well, try to take you 9 years old nephew to buy the first aquarium, and try to do it at Petco lol. I can’t blame them for losing patient at some point, but they could last more than 5 minutes. It was OK. We got what we came here to get, they could have little more patient.

Good petco for the assortment of animal food Ive read reviews that there groomers are not that good. My only complaint would be that they sell animal transport cages for a outrageous amount . . Instead went to Kmart and found a bigger and better quality one for less then half the price

I bought mini meal worms, and when I got home and opened the container, they were all dead. Too bad the container wasnt see-through or this wouldnt have happened. I suggest you open the lid to make sure youre not buying dead worms.

The staff is very friendly. One girl in particular (i cant remember her name) helped me for 20 minutes while we tried to figure out what would be the best food option for my cats sensitive stomach. She really cared.

This is a very nice store and doesnt have the over powering smell that most pet stores have. The people are friendly.
