We picked up my boys first dog today from the Tulare Animal Services shelter. Being our first pet we had zero supplies at home for our new member. So our first logical stop was our local PetSmart in Visalia, CA. What a royal waist of time and fuel. The store was pretty much empty, both of my boys and I went to the back of the store to look for a dog house, we stood there for 15 minutes waiting for someone to come and assist us on getting a large dog house, food, a bed plus more supplies. Well, no one showed up, there was two employees in the grooming department just texting their hearts away and givin us the occasional look and smirk. I went to the front of the store and spoke with the cashier and she indicated that someone would be with me shortly. Well, I went back to the dog houses section for another 15 minutes, and surprise, no one showed up. How can you justify having an empty store and no employees to assist your only client? I was really upset, I told my kids that it was time to go, and when I was passing by the cashier I told her that no one showed up to assist us, to which she replied "Ok". Good grief, how bad can customer service get? I got back in my car and googled pet supplies on my phone and I found a store in called Petsense in the Tulare outlets, I called the number to verify that they had dog houses for sale, and Richard, the guy in the other side of the line, not only he confirmed that indeed they had dog houses for sale, he also was very courteous and inviting. I drove my kids back to Tulare straight to Petsense. And 30 minutes later I had gladly spent over $300, and I mean gladly, I left that store with a big smile on my face. Richard takes customer service to the next level. If any of the PetSmart managers are reading this, please sent your employees to Petsense so they can get a great example of what they are supposed to do. At the end of the day, I have happy kids and a happy dog. Thanks to Richard and Petsense.

Wow I had such an awesome experience today with customer service. I had heard from a friend they had a bunch of leashes and collars on sale for $5 so naturally I went right over. I spent some time sifting through the bins (which was a little difficult since they werent organized by size and some didnt even have tags but luckily, I had my dog with me to try a few things on) but then I found an Ellen dog collar and matching leash in the bin (SCORE!!) but it didnt have any clearance tags on it so when I went to check out I asked if they could check, unfortunately it wasnt :( but that was when the manager was walking by and he said since I found it in the bin they would honor it anyway! WOW. THAT WAS AWESOME CUSTOMER SERVICE, and I knew he didnt have to do that but thats just the way they treat customers and I was really impressed, I think Ill start shopping here instead of petco now. I also like that they donate a bag of food when you buy a bag of food which I do almost every month. So kudos petsmart, you done good!!

Was in the store last week to get a tank to keep a turtle in. A young lady was visiting with an elder women and grandchild which said theywere just watching the fish. She continued to talk with them on all the types of fish. Now she did see me there and just ignored us. After about 4 min I finally asked the checker to call someone and he did. No one came which the checker knew because he could see us. The young lady walked right by us up to the checker and started talking. Now she should of said "i will be right with you" SOMETHING... We were there for 10 min and nothing.....We walked out right by both of them and they said nothing! The store was not busy just poor service and not caring. We went down the road to PetCo and real nice young lady waited on us and we spent $85 dollars there.

Apparently customers who havent payed for there fish come before those who have. Was returning the 2 angel fish i had got from them which seemed on the sick side and had died in my tank the following day and when i came to exchange them for the same fish they had two left in there tank and was told they were sold already by the two people in frobt of me i asked the assosciate did they pay for them yet he said no i said well i have now get me them he said well they have been waitibg here longer...... he said come in tomorrow and well exchange them... if there not there tomorrow im chewing someones ass out.....

Worst experience at the fish department ever the guy that helped me was disrespecrful and was rude and made me feel like I didnt know what I was buying and after I got goldfish and I told him that they were pets he smiled and continued making certain comments that were rude and at the end he handed me the fish and said " have fun with you PETS " I plan on calling in to talk to the manager this week or going in personally. This is where I buy all my dogs shampoo and food but I will not be returning at all until I receive an apology.

The store is clean, organized, fairly priced, and they offer plenty of diverse product options. They have basically everything you would need to take great care of your pet. The staff is usually kind and helpful...hit and miss. The grooming is another story. Our groomer was SO nice and did a great job BUT it took 5 hours...? The place we go now takes 2-3 MAX and do just as well on the cut and everything. I didnt like having my poor dog in a crate or whatever for such a long period of time.

This store seems to take at least decent care of the animals they have available for adoption/purchase, which in my opinion is most important. But Only a couple of the staff members are actually polite and smile. The Others usually act miserable, tired, and greatly inconvenience by any questions you may ask or assistance you may need. But they do take care of the animals there (for the most part).... And for that I rate 3 stars.

do NOT shop at this pet store or grooming place EVER!! these people left my dog in the back after they groomed and they closed the store after neglecting to call me to let me know he was done or make sure all the dogs had gone home. i can not believe what i have just gone through with this place. screw this place.

Hawaiian born n raised we used another wonderful place on Maui, but after over 2 decades weve moved to the mainland. We needed a good n caring grooming place. So we gave PetSmart a whirl. LOVING THIS PLACE!!!

Theres decent price for its selection of even science diet and convenience. I liked that they have adoption, grooming, and training services as well. It was a little slow for internet pick-up

Good selection but I waited a really long time for anyone to help me after one guy said someone would be right there. Angie (who I think is the manager) is super friendly and helpful though!
