If you read nothing else, please note this. Do not patronize this dealer, they do not have the customers interests in mind. I have left off the salesman we worked with because he was actually friendly and pleasant to work with but the self-proclaimed finance wizard ruined the experience so thoroughly that this place will never even get a second look from myself, my family, or anyone who I can steer away from it. My wife and I were shopping for a second car as we just had a baby and needed to each have a vehicle. We had found a vehicle that worked for us with the help of the salesman and explained where were financially. It was a used Jeep with 32,000 miles after a year and a half of ownership. Something that should be easy to work out a deal on. We started by setting what we wanted including what would have been over 20% of the price we were asking to be met at (less than $1000 below the advertised price). We were upfront about our situation and that there may be room for negotiations on that price if they can help us keep the monthly payments reasonable. This man proceeded to come in $200 month over our asking payment amount, and asked for double the initial down payment to "sneak us in" with an 11-12% interest rate. He would not budge one dollar on the price which we had to correct them on 4 times as he kept trying to add $100-$500 as the "starting number". When explaining that we know there are other deals out there and trying to ask to be worked with we were told that "this is Thousand Oaks" as if that is why negotiating with us would be beneath this mans time and contempt.... We were able to go to another dealership and get the same deal we asked for on a brand new car, with an 8.75% interest rate, and less money down. This dealership had no interest in finding a solution, working with us as human beings, or treating us like customers. We were belittled by this companys representative, and told that we would be "coming back to the guy with the blue shirt, begging for this deal". There are a lot of other dealers in that auto mall and surrounding cities. I cannot suggest strongly enough to try any and all of them out and to avoid Shaver.

I just purchased a beautiful 2005 Nissan Altima for my 18-year old daughter from Shaver Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram. The price that was on their web price was the price I paid. Best decision I ever made!!! The two salesman Octavio and Houtan, and John McMann in financing were incredible!!! They were the most helpful and nicest people I have ever had the pleasure to do business with. I know they worked hard because my credit score wasnt the best but they were able to get me financed. My monthly payments were lower than I expected and I am so thrilled. What a wonderful staff!!!! I have been looking for a used car for over a month for my daughter to drive to college and work. I wasted a month driving to used car lots between Ventura and Santa Ana only to get the run around and scammed. There are so many "shady" dealerships out there. So many times we spent our weekend driving to a dealership just to be told the car we wanted was just sold. IT WAS WONDERFUL TO FINALLY DO BUSINESS WITH AN HONEST DEALERSHIP!!! Everyone buy your next car from Shaver!!!! You will not be disappointed!!! This was the most pleasant and easiest experience I have ever had when buying a car. There was no hassle, no haggling. It was truly a pleasure!!! The Shaver dealership made my daughters dreams come true. For the last few years, she has always had two dream cars. A Dodge Charger or a Nissan Altima. I knew the Dodge Charger would be out of my price range, but the Nissan Altima was the perfect price. It was also the color she wanted. When Octavio handed her the keys to her dream car, she was so happy she was almost in tears!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH SHAVER CHRYSLER JEEP DODGE RAM!!!! Your dealership is the best!!!!! I will never go anywhere else!!!!!!!!

Let me start off by saying the people in Sales are great.... The service department is a different story. I have never been treated so bad and lied to so much by any service writer and I have owned a lot of cars. I paid a lot of money for the truck I had purchased from them and have been through hell with it. Just one of many problems was an oil leak that leaked on a lot of my customers driveways including my own. Spent a lot of time cleaning. Took the truck back in and told them what was going on. While I was waiting I started talking to an older couple that had just purchased a new Durango. They had the same problem and even brought in a towel full of oil that was on their garage floor. They brought the Durango out and said that their was nothing wrong with it and it was dry as a bone.... Keep in mind these folks were probably in their 80s and the service writer had a horrible attitude with them. After about 10 minutes my truck came out and they told me there was nothing wrong!!! I had just put my truck up on a lift the day before and found exactly where the leak was coming from. "I didnt touch anything because this shouldnt be an issue with a brand new truck" There was oil everywhere including running down the frame. How could they tell me it was dry as a bone? My uncle just bought the same truck from Shaver and had the same problem with the exact same response! They made me really hate my truck with a passion. I am now taking it to another dealer which seems to be a lot better and straight forward without all the lies. Again the sales guys are good its just the service that is bad.

While negotiating the cost of a car, the dealer and I came to an agreement on the final price. I thought this was an easy sale and all we had left to do was sign the sales contract. This is where the SHADY dealer/salesman/finance person kicks in. The finance guy will throw all this papers and documents at you really fast, telling to to initial here, initial there, sign here, sign there, while not reading the papers/documents put in front of you. Things are going to fast, you feel like you just want to get everything over with and take home your soon to be new car. Well, during the bombardment of the paperwork thrown at me, I actally had the inclination to look at the DOCUMENT that spells out what your finance amount was, interest rate, monthly payment, etc. I CANT STRESS THIS ENOUGH, LOOK AT THAT PARTICULAR PAPERWORK WITH THE NUMBERS!!! WHY??? The dealer tired after negotiating the final price, I found that the dealer tried to add hidden fees in the form of some sort of sealant they put on the the car for $199, nitrogen air in the tires for a cost of $179, and other BS fess. These fees brought up the price of the car by at least $500. First of all this "sealant" is a car wash. The nitrogen is free at Costco, while other places charge $5 per tire. Bottom line... the personnel at this dealership are the kind of people who would give you any line of BS to try to satisfy you and get your money, at the same time smiling and shaking your hand, while sneaking in hidden fees in the contract HOPING you dont actually read it.
