I have been cycling since I was a kid and have owned a dozen high end bikes since the early 1990's. I have been to few other shops since my Colorado days and in my last 18 years in L.A. where you can get good service that is consistent and a good selection of bikes or custom orders with knowledgeable, friendly staff. This store has been a solid staple for me since it opened. I used to go to the store in Venice as well. I have bought from all the other local retail and online stores but have average to poor feelings on these competitors. This is mostly because of the impersonal customer service I have gotten from these stores. I have found that I get a better level of value for my money spent if I return to the same businesses and have a relationship with the businesses in my neighborhood. Bike Attack is my best suggestion for a store with a nice local presence and good service and repeat customers. I have purchased several bikes from Bike Attack and get great customer service every time. These guys stay up to date on high end products and training and know what they are doing. Examples... building wheels, servicing high end drivetrain, forks, etc. I trained and raced two long XC races last year and rode hard on a set of UST wheels/tires that never went out of true/round or flatted. Two of my XC bikes both still ride super smooth after a ton of miles on rough rides. I credit this to buying good equipment and it being properly set up. So, from my perspective I feel more treated like a loyal customer than I would anywhere else. I can only speak for myself but I know Bike Attack has a great base of loyal customers and I am one of them.

Was new to area since I just moved to SM from NYC. Wanted to buy from a friendlier mom and pop store rather than a walmartesque franchise store who would just push me to buy a more expensive bike that I didnt need. Let me just say, BEST DECISION EVER. If youre looking for dudes who really know their bikes and who will find the RIGHT bike for you, Bike Attack is where its at! I went in lookin for a hybrid and Eric the great helped me pick a solid Bianchi Iseo. He took the time to go over what type of bike I was looking for, what my price limit was, and what type of riding I would do. Suffice to say, Ive couldnt have been in better hands. He gave me a few options, had me ride them for a while in the huge parking lot in the back. He even explained me all the California rules applied to bikers since cops here do give out tickets!!!!! Do yourself a favor and go here. These are the type of guys you want to buy a bike from! I am a pure novice when it comes to biking but now I am addicted to learning more after my afternoon with Eric! So whether youre a newbie or training for a triathlon, these are the guys you want to buy from. Love the new bike. Best part, they do adjustments and other services for free in their repair store next door. Once again, thank you Eric! Cheers, Madhu

I bought a touring bike from Bike Attack to go directly on tour. Worst experience I have ever had with mechanics. I bought a surly disc trucker, pannier racks, helmet and a couple of other items. My issues were: 1) They fitted racks which under load, stopped the front disc brake working. This could have been a fatality. They never apologized for their behavior, and although they refunded money from the racks, I still am angry about this incompetence. 2) They cross threaded the drive side pedal. Not really a problem as I put it on, but since then it was difficult to put the pedal on, finally resulting in the threads failing whilst on a ride resulting in a long walk, and a train ride followed by another walk. And the cost of a new crankset. Which leads me on to... 3) The drive side crank was overtightened so much that it broke my Park Tools crank puller! The sales guy I dealt with was great, and the price was reasonable, but the mechanics were a disgrace, and the dealings that I had with them after discovering the problems were atrocious.

I recently went in to the Santa Monica location for a routine brake bleed on my front brake. Half an hour later i am told and shown that neither brakes work or are fixable. Immediately after one of the "owners" tries to sell me brakes for "the best price." The prices he gave me were almost $200 more than most online bike mail orders, so I tell them I will hold off. Just then, the mechanic says "...uh let me try something I saw on the internet." All of the sudden the brakes work again WOW! I am out $40 for the mechanic time and my bike is exactly how it was when I brought it in. I ended up fixing the problem myself. I was referred to this shop by a few friends whom I have all told never to come here again. These guys are ridiculous and will rip you off. My guess is that they are used to wealthy people coming in and spending anything no questions asked. I would not recommend this shop to anyone!

I have looked for a long time for a store that addresses the needs to serious mountain bikers, and found it right here. Not only the staff is knowledgeable on their products and price options, they can also get you whatever you want, at a competitive price. I have never established any kind of personal connection with other bike stores in the area, some of which I bought up to three bikes from...whereas B.A. always greets a returning customer in a friendly and attentive manner. And if you are interested in boutique-style preparation and attention to detail, there just isnt any other place, not to mention the mix of high-end bikes with very affordable ones, albeit in a small space. Location is perfect when on the go to a ride, plenty of parking in the lot if needed, and a great coffee house across the street while you wait. :-)

Fantastic customer service! Thanks to Marcus and Martin for helping me pick out my Surface 604 (Colt). These guys know exactly what they are talking about and will give you the "low down" on electric bikes, whether you are looking for a commuter bike or something to "tool around" on the weekends. In fact, Marcus met me at 6AM to deliver the bike to make sure I made my international flight at LAX that same morning - this is unheard of! Ive been using the bike for about a week now and its exactly what I need. In fact, sometimes I wish the commute was just a bit longer so that I could spend more time on it. Thanks again for your help guys!

I was in the market to replace my old Honda scooter with a greener e-bike option. I had tested another bike at a different store, and I was leaning that way, but then I thought Id stop in Bike Attack Electric just to check things out. Boy, am I glad I did. Ericson is friendly, helpful, and really knowledgeable about e-bikes, and he introduced me to a bike that perfectly meets my needs without breaking the bank. I bought a Surface 604 Colt Electric and a Torch T2 helmet, and Im super stoked. The store location is perfect for testing out e-bikes because theres a pretty intimidating hill right around the corner. Im so glad I found this store!
