As a current user of Microsoft products and a former employee or Microsoft, I really root for them. I have to say, though, that it pains me to see how inept this retail store is. The location is inside the mall - right across from Apple, so its impossible to not compare. While Apple store is almost always crowded, the Microsoft store is half-empty. Apple puts stuff on display that you can actually buy (makes sense, doesnt it?) - Microsoft displays gadgets that you can only pre-order (e.g. Nokia 1520, Surface accessories). Apple employees are knowledgeable and approachable, while Microsofts Store staff is a bunch of colored-hair punks that probably applied across the hall and got rejected - they cant answer questions or demo products because they dont know or care... as if they werent trained, and arent even afraid to make fools of themselves, or being fired for turning away potential customers. Overall, this Store highlights whats wrong with Microsoft - inept people, probably all the way up the chain.. that simply dont care. Poor Microsoft. P.S. The only thing I like about the Store is its design - bright, open, modern.

Its Nov 4, 2015 and I want to buy the New Dell XPS15 laptop. I called for in store availability because I want to pick up rather than buy online. I thought I was calling the Valley Fair mall Microsoft store but instead was routed to the call center and the call was drop before I could get an answer whether they have the laptop at the store so that I can go there not and buy it. Really poor customer service and workflow. Here I am, a customer ready to purchase but hit by road blocks in their phone support/customer service interfacing. I feel discourage and looking to buy elsewhere. Windows and laptops are making a comeback for their functionality and Microsoft needs to step up their customer interfacing strategies to take advantage. The agents seem nice but I think the infrastructure and setup for their customer over the phone needs to be improved. Instead having an agent call the store to find out if something is available, why dont they just let the customer over the phone directly talk to the store people. Its like double work and inefficient.

I had an issue with my partitions and hard drive space. I couldnt seem to figure it out so I called into the store for help. They were able to offer me a same day appointment! I went in I was greeted with a smile and asked if I could use some help. I was checked in and Harold the tech met me, and asked many questions and asked if I could leave it overnight for a tech to examine. I explained it was my work computer and really was hoping for something a bit quicker if possible. Harold went and grabbed Richard from the back and the two of them went to work. In no time at all they figured out what was needed and I was in and out of the store in under 30 min! They certainly know their stuff there. I would highly recommend this location and either Harold or Richard as your tech!

I had an appointment on March 8 to fix my windows phone Lumia 930 which died on me while it was auto-updating. As a loyal Microsoft customer with literally a dozen Microsoft product purchases in the past few years including 2 Lumia phones and 1 surface tablet I was badly disappointed when I found out they wouldnt retrieve several hundred photos in the phone. They didnt offer to do any thing I already could do and referred me to "third party" drive rescuers. I mean this is ridiculous! The phone, the operating system and even the unsolicited updates are Microsoft doing and they dont take responsibility for it in the heart of Silicon Valley! No wonder their devices have failed in the market despite the smooth and user-friendly Windows 10.

I would recommend purchasing online over going to this store. 28 days after I purchased a laptop here, there was a price drop. I was out of town, and called the online store to get the price match guarantee. They said they couldnt help me online, but that they have a fifteen day grace period and to go to the store when I got back to San Jose the following weekend. I called before driving there (small mercies) and they said they had never heard of the grace period and would not be able to give me the difference in the price drop. I feel like I wasted $50. Go to the store to browse then buy online; apparently online there are more consumer friendly policies.

This store is a joke!, I spoke with Microsoft support on the phone they send me to the store after talking with the store manager Sarah, Microsoft support approved replacement for my brand new computer that arrived today defective, after arriving to the tech support representative didnt want to honor Microsoft support request and wasted my time for 1 hour when Sarah & Reyna stores manager came to talk with me she didnt have any patient and basically was saying is my way it no way! They wasted time + gave lame support! I will open a ticket with Microsoft Corp to complain about there service!!

Store is ok as long as you are already going in there. If you want to check inventory before going here, youve got a problem. You cant get through to them by phone and they dont have an online mechanism to check stock. This store is selling electronics for thousands of dollars. Youd think they could afford a phone to help sales. For me, Im not going out of my way to drive out to that store to see if maybe they have the stuff Im looking for.

Went to store to get replacement for surface pro 2 due to screen problem, manager drew said we dont have it, you have to ship the surface pro 2 product, to get replaced. Then I got to know, they wont help you in any way and they wont even trust their own product, all they say is because of surface pro 3, we dont have it.You just missed a valuable customer.

The store personnel are incredible. They are able to assist me whenever I need help with a product and they do not hesitate to send me to another retailer if I can find the product cheaper there. They also carry products that other stores dont have. AT&T was out of stock on the phone I needed. The Microsoft Store had them readily available.

The staff at this store really went above and beyond their duty to help me. I needed a replacement stylus for my Surface PRO 2 and although they no longer stock them, they located one for me. They were knowledgeable and courteous. Reviews can be mixed and some people have bad experiences, but mine was excellent.

They tricked me into being a living commercial for the store by offering free tickets to the black keys concert and filming me walking into the store, accepting my concert ticket in a microsoft store sale baggie, and filming me walking out looking like I had bought something

Ive never actually bought anything from here, but this is a very nice store. Its got a very clean layout and (dare I say it?) very Apple-like. I think the real value of this store is checking out the latest Microsoft has to offer.
