Small time crooks. When I tried to get them to make an adjustment when they almost got me killed they gave me the runaround. The clerk, Nick, denies having authority to do anything. He also wont give me a number with which to contact the owners. I gave him my number for them to call me and they didnt. How sleazy and small-time crooked is that? These guys are stinking up the equipment rental business. Deal with someone else if you possibly can. If you cant trust the people you are dealing with to even identify themselves, you really should go somewhere else. They rented me an expedition tent for an Arctic eclipse trip to Svalbard in March to camp out in sub-zero temperatures. BUT they gave me the wrong poles. The tent could not be assembled. The clerk Nick had laid it out for me to show me how to assemble it, but neither he nor I noticed that they were the wrong poles. I discovered the error in Oslo the day of my flight. I ran all over Oslo feverishly trying to get a replacement pole. Everyone could get it - next week. I was forced to buy an expedition tent in Oslo at Norwegian prices. I asked them through their clerk Nick to make some adjustment, ideally they could buy the expensive Hillerberg tent I bought in Oslo for what I paid for it. I rented a tent because I rarely need an expedition tent. They have them in inventory. It would make sense if one were dealing with honest or reasonable people for them to reimburse me what their negligence cost me and just buy the tent for what I paid for it. They could rent it out among the rest of their inventory. Considering that they left me hung out to dry on an Arctic camping trip with no tent, that does not seem too much to do. But that would be IF one were dealing with reasonable honest people, not ones who conceal themselves from their customers. When they conceal themselves, one can and should assume the worst. I am going to have run through the various consumer remedies for dealing with sleazy retailers. Your remedy is to not deal with them in the first place.

Very disappointing experience. We rented alpin touring skis for my girlfriend including skins (which was disappointing in a first instance as they charged separately for the skins). The skis were nothing great but ok, but the skins were just ridiculously old and crappy: The glue did not stick at all and we had really trouble going up the mountain as my girlfriend was sliding away all the time as the skins just did not stick sufficiently. In addition the bindings were not adjusted properly which showed me that they apparently do not have a lot of experience in that store. When we finally got back into the store and told them about our poor experience, they were not showing any understanding and were very unfriendly to us (expecially the guy Nick). The answer was that the skins were in perfect conditions when they handed them out which was just not true. I ve been going tours for over 10 years and have never seen such bad maintained equipment. Sorry to say that but just a very poor and disappointing experience.

I had a little "issue" with tie downs as I was going past Outback Adventures. Needless to say, my stuff and I weren’t going anywhere unless I found some rope or something to relash with. After hours and during rush hour I thought I was toast; until I knocked on the door of Outback Adventures. After inviting me in and listening to my tale, the employee (sorry to say I didn’t get his name) lent me two cam buckle straps (no cost) and asked me to bring them back the next time I pass by. WOW! Thanks sooooo much for the help! In a world where it seems its all about "I" these days, Outback Adventures helped out someone in need, no problem. I couldn’t be more thankful!

Super friendly front desk guy, very accommodating for my family members who were trying out paddle boards for the first time, then switched to kayaks. Gear was in excellent condition, and we had a great time!

Ski rentals, kayaks, stand up paddle boards; this place has it all. If youre looking for a guided tour theyve got you covered. I just moved to the Bay Area, they hooked me up. Ask for Nick, he knows whats up.

Love this place. Ive had tons of great experiences here. Good access to mellow paddling in the creak, or more challenging bay paddling if your experienced.
