Just a quick 14 miles north of the Golden Gate Bridge, located in San Rafael, California is 101 Surf Sports. 101 Surf Sports offers Stand Up Paddle board, surf boards, kite surfing and kayaks. They also offer a great iSUP demo program. The people at 101 surf sports are great and awesome. They are courteous and down right cool to everyone. I tried out several iSUPs, and also rented a SUP. They have a really nice protected area to paddle around and access the bay. If you are a beginner, the crew is very nice and you will enjoy your experience. If you are and advanced paddler, then the bay is right there. The store is also paying it forward and growing our sport. The same day I visited, they were hosting a birthday party for 10 year old kids. They helped out all the kids and guided them out on the water. Another excellent point to show how great they are.

Found 101 Surf Sports through Groupon. Went there for the first time and totally loved it! The owners and staff are very accommodating! They gave us a good rate and threw in a lot of extras (more than what we were expecting to get). They were also very patient with us and gave us great safety tips (were beginners). They were more interested in helping us and making sure we had fun, than making money. Well definitely will be back here--with more people!

The paddling superstore, if you want lessons, sales or just an experienced opinion 101 is your place, they have a great outdoor patio to chill and watch the habor too. Highly recommend doing a SUP tour with them, and the prices for surf gear is not outrageous either And if you are interested in doing some outrigger canoeing the local club (Hee Nalu) has a place there too.

Just had my first SUP experience and the staff were supper friendly and helpful! It was also a fantastic place to learn because of their location... lots of calm protected water to practice on and the bay is right there for the exploring once you get your sea legs... all in all it was a geat experience!
