One of 3 Japanese grocery stores in a 3 mile radius. This is the corporate chain compared to the 2 "mom and pops" in the area. Whats cool about this place is that they have seasonal Japanese food, beverage and snack events that showcase the different regions of Japan, including Okinawa throughout the year and fresh Japanese / Asian fruits and vegetables. I also come here to get my Bento / sushi takeout and rice cake snack fixes. The clerks are friendly and helpful. Big, free parking lot

A pretty small Japanese market but its a convenient place to stop by to find specialized items. I always come at the end of the day for discounted sushi (though theres been less discounts during my recent visits). Actual fish quality is honestly pretty bad but I cant resist. Otherwise they carry various Japanese salad dressings that I love, various Asian snacks, etc. Not a bad grocery store but not somewhere Id do my regular grocery shopping.

One of my favourite markets. Love the fresh sashimi & sushi rolls. The snacks & ice cream are awesome-although i do wish they had Hi-Chews in a variety pack & unagi onigiri. Last time i shopped here, i happen to come on the day of their Meat sale-which i learned happens almost at the end of every other month? Half off-totally awesome!

Nijiya Market is a gem in this area, you can find a good selection of Japanese snacks, but you can also find a wide range of freshly made food at the deli section. They have fresh organic soy milk, tofu, mochi, etc. The only thing I do not like is the high price of vegetables and fruits, a small box of blueberries costs nearly $7.

Nijiya is a great Japanese grocery chain. We always order sushi platters from their San Mateo location for special occasions. They have fresh produce, wonderful bento-boxes and other options for a quick lunch, and the staff is very efficient. If you are looking for an obscure Japanese ingredient, they probably sell it here.

Clean store. Plenty of parking. Organic. Japanese candies and snacks! Great for picking up a sashimi slab before heading home for dinner. Or maybe stocking up on organic brown rice... I never realized how much importance is placed on organics at Nijiya, but going through the various sections, I was surprised in a good way.

The go-to Japanese grocer in the San Mateo area. This place has everything you can possibly imagine and much more. Foodies beware, you will be here time and time again checking out their assortment of nori (roasted seaweed), ramen, soba, and other noodles and intriguing fresh sushi creations.

If you like sushi, if you like all things Japanese, sodas, juices, candy this is the spot. Great place to buy fish to make your own Sushi at home. They have get buys for shabu shabu meat. The prices for the sushi is decent. However everything else like San Mateo is pricey.

Nijiya is a great Japanese grocery chain. They offer a wide variety of Japanese ingredients, both fresh and packaged. I am fond of their fresh bento/sushi section. A great place to grab a healthy and tasty lunch while you are on the go.

Good selection of hard to find Japanese food and accessories. Their sushi grade fish is the best Ive found at a grocery store. The sushi rolls the sell went downhill though, way overloaded on rice starting recently.

The fish, meat, and vegetables are high quality (but youll pay for it). I typically come for the prepared food, fresh noodles, and sake selection. They have a different sale each week, and there are often good deals.

Love it! We always make a bee line to the back where their prepackaged foods are located. I can not count how many times we have stopped there going to or from Half Moon Bay. Its easy on and off the highway.

Occasionally, there are some good deals on Japanese beers. Also the only place in a 20mi radius to offer true Japanese import rice (but note that due to transit time, the rice will already be months old)

Hard to find Japanese products and good blocks of sashimi for sale. With a good knife, and excellent chunk of Hamachi for under $8, I had a plate with 20 pcs. How much would that cost in a restaurant???

Small market but has quality packaged and frozen products. The sushi looked OK (we went too late in the evening) and was marked down 20% off. Sadly did not have any seaweed snacks that I could find.

Big selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. Especially loved that they had Ikezo sparkling jelly sake, since its been really hard to find. Also has your general Japanese market items.

My wife loves the large bento selection in the back, especially the fried squid. The cashiers are not unfriendly, but often wont greet or thank you, even when I say "Thank you" after paying.

They have great Japanese traditional food & ingredients and some great sales! But normal prices are a little expensive (not bad for the US though), and it is a little small & dingy.

This Nijiya is smaller than the one in SF Japantown, but it has all the basics. Be careful coming late afternoon on a weekend for shabu shabu fixings though, they tend to run out!

A 10 minute stay in this supermarket was enough to realize its an authentic, well-stocked and well managed Japanese supermarket. I wish there is one in the East Bay.
