I would give this store a four or five for the quality of the products and the store layout itself. I would give this store three stars for their prices. There are some good deals but many items are very pricey. I would give this store the lowest possible rating for accuracy. I live a short walk from this store so I shop here frequently. I have been consistently overcharged and lately Ive had more instances of being overcharged for something each time Ive gone in than not. For a while I was getting charged $5.99/lb for "tomatoes on the vine" when I was buying slicer ($2.99/lb) or roma ($1.99/lb) tomatoes. I have been over charged for flowers when I can simply point to the sign near the cashier which says otherwise. They dont even have an apparent policy on how to correct such errors. One cashier gave me flowers free when I pointed out the error, most are at least apologetic, some are rude. Yesterday I was double charged for toilet paper. It was $2.99 the cashier said "oh thats the second time today this has happened" (that makes me feel better?) then handed me three dollars. I pointed out that I paid 9.75% tax on my $2.99 so she said "oh, heres twenty cents" I then had to explain that, while thats closer, it really is more like thirty cents I am really due back $3.28. So even when theyre trying to correct and error they still screw up. I like the fish and meat, the produce is usually good quality and fresh, they have good products and a nice selection, they have a nice store layout, the cheese selection is fantastic and they have good beer and wine. I keep going to this store not only because its convenient but because I do like what they sell. I am about fed up with having to scrutinize my receipt every single time and finding at least one error every single time I shop there. The error rate is getting absurd. I think theyve surpassed the 7-11 across the street for "accidental overcharging" and I dont really think its so accidental across the street. Store management really needs to get their act together on the overcharging and policies to reimburse customers when this does happen. Enjoy this store but do not leave until youve gone over your receipt line by line.

Love Wholefoods! My husband and I cook all three meals 5 days a week so we shop a lot of veggies and fruits usually from the farmers market on Grand on Saturdays for the rest of the week. But life cannot be always perfect, especially when you travel on weekends and miss farmers market :( u la la! But thats the beauty of having choices! And thank God for that otherwise we would starve given how many farmers markets we have missed out on :P I usually buy organic veggies and fruits, dairy products [eggs, butter, milk, different cheeses like parmesan, ricotta etc, my favorite russian yogurt :)], but also other stuff like freshly grounded peanut butter, organic chips, my coop brand of rolled oats, the lovely selection of 7th generation products for bathroom/kitchen/laundry needs. Love the rubicon selection of desserts and go mad about their carrot cake or the chocolate one :) - love to support a company that gives hope and employment to people who need a second chance in their lives - I dont care how fat i become by eating this cake if it means someone gets to keep their job :P . Love to have found a little India in Wholefoods Oakland!!! Unbelievable that Maroma brand from Auroville, Pondicherry (India) has made its way here - love their incense sticks! Good selection and prices on wines, chocolates and their adorable loose variety of dry fruits, sugar, flour, rice and so much more! Decent wine selections and prices! Only complaint is that everytime I shop its hard to not get a 3 dollar sign bill of over 100$ :( In many ways its really affordable!

Cashier was extremely RUDE to me and my wife! For no apparent reason. The cashier was pleasant to the customer in front of us and behind us...hmm...We placed our food boxes on the belt with our napkins on top of the boxes. The cashier took them off and slammed them on the soiled, wet conveyor belt. I calmly said, " I wished you would have handed the napkins to me instead of putting them on the belt" as I pointed to the several wet and soiled spots. Why would I want to wipe my mouth with a wet napkin, the was damp by who knows what??? Um..HELLO... The cashier angrily said, " I didnt see the wet spots, I took them off so I could tape your boxes!" As she finished our transaction, the cashier didnt make eye contact (even when giving me my receipt, or offer any type of polite customer service. And THEN graciously welcomed the gentleman behind us. Unbelievable!!! I dont frequent that store often, it will less frequently now. Best believe I will tell my friends to boycott this stuffy, rude reminder that gentrification has taken over Oakland.

I was out of town for the funeral of my murdered nephew. After days of chicken buckets and deli trays, I really craved something organic and nutritious. I settled on Whole Foods. While purchasing two bowls of soup and two rolls at $15 and some change; I was accused of and charged for stealing a 99¢ candy which was displayed at the checkout register. After questioning the charge, the cashier said she saw me put the candy into my purse. I immediately asked for a manager and security as I emptied the contents of my purse. When the manager arrived and no candy found, the cashier changed her story completely! Shed shut down the register so there was no proof of the disputed charge! And she said I was lying on her! Absolutely absurd!! Her manager was as unsympathetic to the embarrassment this racially profiled ordeal caused me as the cashier was. I didnt even receive an apology. Their products may be all natural and wholesome but I found my customer experience with the cashier and her manager were not!

This is a large Whole Foods, with a great selection of beer and wine, premade foods, and a nice cafe seating area. Some other ones are newer and better that Ive seen (wine tasting areas, nicer seating areas, etc.), but this one is definitely the nicest one in the East Bay. The prices can be expensive, especially since you can get organic foods just about at any other grocery store nowadays. What sets them apart is the bigger selection of organic foods, and better quality organic produce. If you are on a budget try their 365 brand, which is Whole Foods brand, and tends to be on par with regular prices at other grocery stores. The employees are always nice and willing to help out. The lines can be long at peak hours (lunchtime, between 5-7pm, and weekends), but if you can avoid those times, its not so bad. This location is down the street from our home, and Im here at least once a week which makes it very convenient.

Very rude cashier has ruined my opinion of this place. Normally I like this place. Its very expensive, but has good healthy food and a nice selection. But today, after I filled my basket with groceries, I made my way to the front to see long lines of people at every cashier. This is very common at this location.. expect to wait around 10 minutes to check out. But I only had a medium-full basket, so I went to the express line. When I get to the front, the cashier tells me I have more than 15 items, and the express is for 15 or less so I have to go to a different line. Two things wrong with this: (1) he couldnt see everything in my basket. He just assumed, without knowing, and made me switch lines, and (2) he was wrong; it turned out I had exactly 15 items, which I found out after going and waiting in another line for 10 minutes, and then counting them when I put them on the counter.
