For summary see bottom: Alright so the store itself is cool, lots to look at and they carry a pretty large inventory. I came in looking for a shotgun and was not very sure what I wanted. I had done some research but not a lot, and had a fair amount of questions about different models and operating systems(gas vs inertia) and had run into lots of mixed reviews and controversy on the internet. After waiting for my number to be called I was helped by a younger gentleman(I don`t remember his name) who did not really seem to know what he was showing me. He had little input on the models I was asking to see and did not recommend anything. He was not very helpful at all and was unable to answer almost any of my questions. After 5 minutes I was done talking to the kid as it was obvious he didnt know much and was little help to me, however it was at that point I overheard Ryan talking to another customer about the same model shotguns I was interested in and he seemed to really know his stuff. After he finished with the other customer I quickly got his attention and asked if he would be able to help me. All I can say is WOW! that kid really knows his stuff when it comes to shotguns. He answered every question I had and helped guide me towards what was best for me. He was very patient with my wife and I and all our questions, as well as making his own recommendations as to what he felt would best suit me. If it wasnt for him this review would be a 1 star review and the only reason its 4 and not 5 is because the first kid. Ryan completely changed my experience, not only was he a wealth of information and very friendly but it was obvious he had a real passion for the shotgun sports and hunting and because of that was able to give five star service. I cant speak enough for how helpful he was and I hope he gets the recognition he deserves. Bottom line, if you are coming to buy or even look at a shotgun TALK TO RYAN, you will not be disappointed, he is the only one I will talk to in the future when it has anything to do with shotguns, ammo or accessories.

Wow! This place is huge and really well done. The employees are happy and ask if you need help. The seem genuinely engaged in their work. There is so much here to see, that it boggles the mind. From the outside the store looks really big, and you have a waterfall and pond out front. Some boats are parked outside for you to check out, but there are more inside. When you first step in you are blown away by the high ceilings and stuffed animal dioramas. The aquarium at the end of the main isle is stocked with real sport fish courtesy of California Fish and Game. These fish are here to educate people interested in sport fishing in our state, but they are really cool to just watch swim around. Kids and adults love the fish tank. The overall interior design is of warm earth tone colors that look modern and expensive, but the pricing on items is good to excellent. The selection of hunting and fishing items is absolutely huge. You will not find a bigger selection of rods and reels, even in a dedicated fishing store. The same goes for firearms, they have a huge selection of well priced firearms and ammunition. The 9mm Russian made TULAMMO ammo was less than $21 for 100 rounds, now that is a superb price. They must sell tons of ammo here but, unfortunately, the .22LR ammo shelves were pretty bare, but that is hard to get anywhere. The shoe selection was good and the prices were better than Amazon. There is a restaurant, bowling alley and a bar! Uncle Bucks Fish Bowl and Grill, which also has party rooms for your kids birthdays. The cost to host 10 or 20 kids is a reasonable $190 and $290, and that includes pizza and drinks, one hour in the room and two hours of bowling! There is a lot going on here beyond the outdoor goods shopping, and next time I come in I am going to have lunch at Uncle Bucks Fish Bowl and Grill because it just looks like fun. Awesome place, highly recommended!

Ive never had a problem with bass pro before, used them many times. Unfortunately I will never spend another dollar with them. I received a gift from a friend, turned out to be something I couldnt use. So I went down to return it, being a gift I had no recipt, wad just going to get store credit and buy something else. So after waiting in line I informed the customer service employee of the situation. He then asked for a rewards number use to purchase it, when I didnt have it, he asked for payment method used, once again I told him it was a gift. He then tells me that it is against company policy to offer a return on something without a recipt or the information he asked for. And told me to talk to the manufacturer if I wanted a refund. I cant believe any company in this day can get away without offering at least store credit for a returned gift. I cant think any other company with a ridiculous policy like this. Sorry bass pro you have lost a customer.

First. Im a huge Bass Pro fan so Ive been looking forward to the opening of the San Jose store for some time. It doesnt have the "Wow" factor of the Manteca store and feels more like the Costco vibe of the Cabelas up in Boomtown. Still nice though with lots of inventory and selections. The assistance I received from staff was hit and miss. I was looking at smokers and found the gentlemen that assisted me extremely knowledgeable and courteous. Not the same in archery. No one wanted to make eye contact with the people waiting and the common response was there should be someone here in a few minutes to help. Im sure the store will iron out the kinks soon but in the mean time Ill stick with the on-line store.

Went in looking for a 30-06 rifle, asked the guy at the counter if he could show me some since its been awhile that Ive hunted. The guy says which one we have tons of them! I said well thats why Im here to see which one is best for me. Guy says think about which one you want and Ill get back to you! Ran across this same guy when he worked at Mel Cottons and same thing there, no patience and unwilling to help. Guess Ill buy it somewhere else, just like I bought my 30-30 Winchester somewhere else the last time I came across this clown! I guess my money isnt good enough at bass pro shops firearms dept. two stars cause the fishing dept is pretty good, or else no stars.

What can I say about Bass Pro Shops? I love them! This one has the restaurant and bowling alley, which is awesome too! Everything you can possibly need to get outdoors is available here. Staff are super helpful and friendly. We went for the Fathers day fishing specials and attended a 30 minute talk on getting started with fishing, which was super helpful. Kids were able to catch and release in two large portable swimming pools in the boat area. Lots of fun for them. The store has lots of parking and is conveniently located close to freeways. The decor of these stores is just incredible! Super impressed.
