I have been to almost all the surf shops around town and this is probably the best in term of selection and their price are good. the staff is nice and dont bother you when you dont need them. I always go there to buy some gear. I was looking for a leash in 10 feet in color and they were the only one carrying a good selection of leash in all sizes and different colors. the staff is knowledgeable and dont pressure you to buy. Really helpfull even to find a solution to save you money. not like in certain stores where they hire kids Same thing for a suit for my brother. They were having a sale and at the end the suit we bought there was cheaper than a used suit on craigslist. Parking is fine there is always a spot in front of their store (at least when i go there). otherwise you can park around there are spot every where. The only drawback is the store close early 6pm. I would recommend this store just because of the selection. you wont have to run around to find what you are looking for and the price are fair and often better than else where. When I need soemthing, i dont waiste my time running around, I just go there and know I will get what I am looking for. If you are lucky you will be able to find a suit or a goody in their clearance section like past season suit etc...

Really impressed with this shop. The owners/staff are down-to-earth, friendly, intelligent, and insightful. In particular, John Mel, who has been shaping surfboards for >45 years (and has owned the Freeline surfshop in various incarnations on 41st ave [in Santa Cruz, CA] since a time when cow pastures abounded on the east side and who happens to have precocious surfing offspring) was incredibly helpful with my numerous questions about a surfboard for X, Y, and Z conditions. If you want a high quality custom surfboard specific to your desires/needs (coupled with a chill/relaxed environment), John Mel should be on top on your list to get the job done.

Ive been to surf shops in monterey, carmel, capitola and all up and down the coast, and I always look back at Freeline as the best. Not only are their prices the best, but their rental selection is better than anywhere else Ive been. They will also point out good spots for the day, and go out of their way to make sure your surf trip is the best it can be. These guys take it to the next level, and I go out of my way to get my boards and suits from this shop even when my final destination is further south. Nowhere else compares...

Great shop with good prices. Its family owned and right by the beach. The prices are fair and they rent out fiberglass boards unlike ONeil down the road. I ended up with a soft top instead of the fiberglass board that I had paid for but got a refund for the difference. They werent willing to refund on an early return which is a shame but no biggie. Id definitely recommend the place.

You know what? I stopped in here the other day and I have to say I really like this shop! Good prices, for good quality stuff. Really knowledgeable staff, I was helped out by a young lady named Christa if I remember correctly, and she was super helpful and she definitely knew her stuff! I will make it a point to be back here soon!

Have rented wetsuits and boogie boards from this place twice prices are good they had run out of boogie boards to rent but they gave us a discount and we purchased one. They also give good advice on where to go.
