Been looking into the whole folding-bike solution and was happy to discover the state of the art is a lot more advanced than Id hoped... for example, theres some pretty bad-assed "combat-ready" models that look like they could survive the apocalypse and let you pedal across the rubble afterwards... pretty awesome but, for me, think: folding cargo bikes with electric assist... toss in a folding trailer and I no longer have to fight for a cab or sweet-talk a friend with a car whenever I want to do a major Costco run anyway, AFAIC, this is the place to go for cargo and folding bikes... no pretensions, just bikes and all the essential extras ...plus a tight and orderly service area that looks likes its run by someone who knows what theyre doing - always a good sign in my book....

I love this shop. Kash worked with me when I got thrown into the world of urban bike commuting after losing my car. He taught me everything I needed to know about bikes, gear, riding, road rules, safety. He rebuilt my old bike, hooked me up with a transitional bike, and then helped me finance my first really high quality road bike. Its almost 2 years later and Im loving my daily bike commuter lifestyle. Im now ready to purchase my first folding bike, since I live on the 4th floor of an old SF building with a tiny elevator. I continue to go back to Warm Planet to maintain my bikes. Kash and Ted know what customer service means, and it makes all the difference. They genuinely care about urban bike commuters and cyclists. Highly recommended.

Warm Planet Bikes has the best selection of folding bikes in the city, which is great. Their staff is very friendly, but not very competent. When I took my brakes in for adjustment they ended up worse than they were before, requiring a replacement part. Then when they ordered the part, they ordered the wrong thing, and I ended up taking the bike elsewhere. There was also another time when I tried to get an accessory through them and they kept saying they would soon have them in stock, but after four weeks of saying that (and them not being sure whether theyd ordered them or not), I gave up on them.

I work in SOMA a few blocks away from Warm Planet Bikes and I have brought my folding bike (Bike Friday Tikit) to them on quite a few occasions for maintenance and/or repairs. My experiences have always been favorable. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and generous (having made minor repairs on a few occasions for little or no charge). Theyre the go-to guys for folding bikes in SF.

The shop owner at the front is great. Always a smile and pleased to help you. The mechanic in the back has a knowledge base like no one else in the city. Its super chill here I feel calmer just buying an inter tube somtimes. My bike always comes back in better condition. I go to these to above all others Also,( best price in town)!!!!

I bought a Dahon CIAO D5 bike on eBay. Needless to say it didnt come exactly as expected. Missing pedals, broken brake cable, broken custom locks. Warm Planet did such an outstanding job in fixing everything for a very reasonable price! Thank you Ted, looks like a brand new bike. These guys deserve your business!!

Just bought a new bike online that I assembled myself and the gears were a little off so I brought it here for a tune-up. They spent about 15 minutes tuning the gears, and did a great job, but they charged me $40 for it! Not sure if thats normal in SF, but in Boston that wouldve been either free or $10 max.

Awesome shop. The guys working here did an excellent job on my bike and didnt try push me to replace parts which werent necessary to replace. Excellent customer service I would recommend this place over any other in San Francisco (Ive been biking these streets just under ten years).

Best bike service in the city (and I have been to a few) they found and fixed every little irritant and funky thing on my daily commuter bike, cleaned it up and returned to me in less than an afternoon. Also their selection of folding and electric bikes is astounding.

Dude was extremely rude. He also said I should " learn more about bikes" without ever asking about my knowledge of bike. I was extremely offended and I suggest no one goes there. The time and date is 9:45 Aug 8th.

I have purchased two bikes here, and the service is outstanding. Definitely the place to go in SF if you want a folding bike. Theyre super friendly and helpful with minor repairs like flats, etc.

They are the best for folding bikes and for transportation bikes. The service is the best in SF. Any repairs you need for your transportation bike will be made with care.
