Sunset Super is actually owned by someone I was very close to yet I still feel compelled to write about their negative practices because they are upsetting to myself and many shoppers. It is a family owned market that breaks my heart every time I walk in it. I dont know why the police allow such treatment of seafood and like the reviewer below me wrote, nothing is labeled per law of this country. Poor turtles are stacked on top of each other, fish are not allowed enough room and its just chaos. The supermarket has a very low feeling in it which is odd for being on such an upbeat street. I ask anyone to avoid this market until they treat their live seafood better.

Dont go there ever, place is absolutely trashed. Food expired in the 80s and the service is terrible. You get randomly charged for extra money because they "accidentally scanned something else." Where the hell did they find another bar code. When I asked the manager if she was the manager, she denied it. She walked away and would not refund it until I showed my Police star. Still then they blamed you for not checking the receipt. Im okay with not getting a refund but you cant blame other people for your mistakes. If you ever shop there, please turn around and walk out, or you dont buy anything, or check your receipt.

unset Super occupies a rather large space (smaller than Safeway but bigger than most Chinatown grocery) in the Outer Sunset. The sections featuring shellfish, live fish, and butchered fish are outstanding, large and well-supplied and decently priced. The meat case is likewise large and varied, and the stock is fresh. Most of the shelves between these two poles are a jumble. Theres a good selection of bottled marinades and sauces. A somewhat small but inclusive selection of tofu. And freezer cases amply stocked with different varieties of frozen dumplings. One of the best Asian groceries Ive found.

I like this place for fresh sea food. But for some reason, they do not label if the fish is farm raised or wild caught, nor do they label the origin per law of this country. In this day and age when sustainability, toxic contamination, etc., is a concern, I wish they could provide that information so their consumers can make intelligent decisions. The meat there is generally good if you just want regular, mass produced poultry, pork, beef, etc. There are not that much organic/free range meat products there.

I must say that this place is very efficient. I dont think Ive ever been here with long lines at checkout. Thats hard to believe because there is always a lot of people here. Good deals most of the time on groceries. However, theres an obnoxious stench coming from the non working fridge for the salted and preserved eggs. It kind of makes me wonder how well they handle food in the back store before they bring it out .

This is a grocery store specialized in Asian fares. The price are very good, and there is tons of variety. Big produce and fish section. You can find exotic and less common fruit like durian and dragon fruits, a lot of Eastern Asia sauces and noddles, and a wide selection of tea. Less crowded than the Asian sueprmarket in Chinatown or Clement Street.

Nice sized Asian Market for the neighborhood. Usually has what we need if were making asian food, or want asian snacks. Sometimes we have to go a korean or japanese market, to get a particular item not available here. there is a street parking and a smallish parking lot, that can be full and tricky to maneuver around.

I usually like the produce here (though one time I got a bad batch of lychees). This is a larger supermarket (for the city) and has a good selection of all the asian stuff I need. Not a good place to bring kidsstroller though as the aisles are a little more narrow.

Its a little cramped in there, but they have a wide selection of goods, many of which are specialty asian items that are hard to find elsewhere. Solid prices, and good specials. They also have a lot of LIVE seafood.

What a place! Great prices on a bunch of stuff and the best spot around for finding the right sauce or spice for a specific dish. I never knew you could get so many kinds of noodles!

You can find ingredients that you would normally not find at a normal grocery store. Finding the actual thing in store may be a hassle and finding help is also not easy.

No one cares to help you, they just turn their backs or not respond. You get shoved around by rude customers as soon as you walk in. I will never shop there again.

Great for fish and seafood, from frozen to alive from a tank. The produce is of average quality (they dont carry anything organic), but very affordable.

A bit messy and dirty (bust still relatively good for an Asian grocery store) compared to ranch 99 but the prices are also usually much cheaper.
