22nd Market is the ideal neighborhood grocery store. It has a wide variety of fresh fruits and veggies, all of which are less expensive than the nearest commercial grocery chain. One example: fuji apples here are 99 cents/lb, compared to 199 c/lb at Safeway. Not only are the prices better, but the selection is also fare more exotic than youll find at chain stores. 22nd Market boasts nearly 10 types of tubers (regular potatoes, red yellow and fingerlings varieties, sweet potatoes, orange and purple yams, etc) and several fruits I havent seen elsewhere. In addition to cheap quality produce, this place is full of assorted imported goods that you wont find elsewhere. Grape leaves, Israeli desserts, Greek chocolate wafers, Thai chili mangoes, and more! If only this place had meat (theres a butcher 1 block west on Irving btw), it would be the only grocery store I ever walk in to.

22nd & Irving Market has a very good produce selection and also carries a few international items that can be hard to find at other markets. Checkouts always a breeze and its super easy to find what youre looking for. Although its moderately busy consistently, Ive never been there when it was ridiculous or uncomfortably busy like other stores. The only reason for the lack of 5 stars is their limited selection on organics.

Best spot to buy food in all SF. Good products, available prices, and overall personal & professional assistance. Mediterranean products are authentic. Cilantro is even better than in Mexico. And my friend Nik (from Argos) is one the best guys in town (just be careful if you are slow paying cause he may point out "snakes in your pockets?").

My neighborhood greengrocer with an excellent selection of fruit and produce (some organic, some conventional). I took 1 star off because they inexplicably seem to run out of whole milk gallons on a regular basis, and being forced to drink 2% makes me sad.

If you need haloumi cheese, or a good feta selection, or flatbread or manoushe, then this place is it. Solid produce selection and quality too (this market and the produce store next door are among my favorite in the Sunset)

Val Klump

A friendly local market that has been in this location for decades. Specializes in produce as well as Mediterranean and Middle Eastern staples. No meats but has a decent selection of dairy products, cheese and fresh bread.

They have very good produce and reasonable prices. This place has been in buisiness for many years and they know what good food is. I havent bought anything at this store that didnt taste as it should.

This is a great market! They have an aray of fruits and veggies. High quality dairy, eggs and pantry products. However. if you are looking for meat products you will need to look else where.
