Good selection, horrible hours, and expensive. Payless has a great selection of food, but routinely starts to run out of stock of staple foods around 6pm, and are not restocked until the following day. The store looks nice, and those looks cost, most items are more expensive than other stores on the south end. However, Payless is the only store to have a fishmonger, and one of only two stores with a full-time butcher. Payless carries exotic meats, including buffalo, elk, and Kobe Beef, but they are not always in stock. Payless saving grace is the bulk food, which used to cover almost 1/5th of the store, but now is relegated to two shelf segments in the store. The deli has a great selection of meats and cheeses, however, while the sandwiches are made with good ingredients, they are ruined by the use of shredded lettuce, while all other delis on the Southend use either full leaf lettuce or mixed greens. The store would certainly garner a higher rating if it was open, and well stocked until 10pm, had more bulk food, and better prices.

This is a tremendous store. The hours are fine; 8 am to evening 7 days a week. There are always plenty of checkers so long wait lines are very rare, happening only on holidays. The selection of food items is better than many larger stores with a good selection of organics and natural foods. They have a decent deli section. Their bakery section has a huge gourmet pastry and chocolates selection. The staff is always friendly and the fact that you see the same people working there year after year implies it is a good company to work for. Prices are right in the middle of what we see in other stores we visit when not in the area. Weve shopped here for over 20 years. Payless is a friendly and very complete grocery and the only other store we frequent is Costco.

I went in and got the worst service of my life at the deli. I caught the deli worker (shannon, brunette) with her finger in her nose, and although she washed her hands and wore gloves it was still very gross to see. She smiled the whole time but didnt listen to a word I said and was busy speaking with a personal friend standing behind me. She remade my food twice and still didnt get it right. At that point I just left. Thankfully I was just visiting the island and wont have to return to this store. Didnt seem like there were alot of alternatives.

What a great, clean and orderly supermarket! Easy to find foods with a clear organic produce section. In the now for tech, you can use NFC for payments. Good pricing and super friendly staff. Pro tip - when checking out give the grocery attendant your cart. They pull and scan the items for you - another great part of the experience.

I have been going to Payless the majority of my life and there was something I always took for granted until now. Their pumpkins. I know it may seem small, but their pumpkins have always been the flat price of 5.99 each. So thank you Payless foods, and I cant wait until October first when you get your pumpkins!!!

Im new to the island and the employees at the store treated me as if theyve known me forever. Super sweet people, friendly and helpful. And they have AWESOME baked goods! Usually dread going to the grocery store but dont mind stopping by here anytime. Quick and easy- in and out and right back home .

Generally the best store on the South end. Of course the prices are just marked up enough over the mainland pricing to make it unreasonable to make a special trip off island for groceries. If you are coming for a visit, stop somewhere on the way for groceries.

Bright, open, airy, and have a wonderful friendly staff. The payment terminals support all NFC based payment systems (Android Pay Apple Pay, etc), and there is open WIFI for patrons.

This store is everything you want in a small town. Its always clean and has a great variety of grocery items, but its the people who work there that make it a great place to shop.

Not the warmest service. Manger seems to rule the nest with his short answers. Customers arent that important nor is the service.
