(Read fully, please.) While they have so much different types of fabric there were several things that made my purchase hard. (1) Only one person was manning "the back", i.e. where all the fabric was held and could not possibly help every single person that needed the help. (This was at least during the times of me going there.) (2) Communication was a little bit icky (unless you spoke one of their native/first language(s) then perhaps that wouldve been different). When I asked for a particular type of fabric and was instantly told "No, I dont... think.. we have it." one of course questions that keyword "think" and either asks again for more assurance or provide some detail, e.g. a description, in hopes of a better answer; however, it felt like at times the question wanted to be avoided so they would not go as far as to provide possible unnecessary efforts. Meanwhile I can understand this judgement, is it not ones duty who falls under retail to help a customer to ensure satisfaction which would most likely mean of their continued patronage? (3) I understand that I may have gotten there a tad bit late but within an hour till closing time still feels like a long time. After all, much can be accomplished in 1 hour. I got a bit ticked when during the drawing hours a woman told me "Next time dont come in 10 minutes before we close." Sorry, but I find this rude to say to a customer, esp. since I damn well didnt come in within 10 minutes of closing time. (4) WATCH OUT for things they grab and put onto your cart. Someone was helping me and told me some wool was 9.50 and because I was in a hurry I blindly believed it and stocked it into my cart. WRONG! It was 99.50 a yard and BECAUSE it was cut prior to me catching the whale of a price, it was obvious courtesy to pay it regardless and instead of stating and causing more trouble on the matter. And I was also charged for 2 items I didnt put into the cart. Maybe it was just a run luck of the day for me. Maybe because it was late in the day and everyone pretty much wants to go home by five and thus left some people scatterbrained. Regardless of some negative experiences, these are reasons that you should continue coming here: (1) Cheap fabric and a decent amount of it. Super good quality fabric isnt cheap but with these times who wants to spend over 300 dollars for a yard of fabric? Fabrics are still fabrics and if youre too picky, go to an expensive shop (unless youre pulled out onto a homework assignment like me, then sorry to hear.) (2) Theyre pretty willing to help you. I think the amount of customer to worker can be outnumbered at most times and may lead them to possibly be tired and weary. Tired and weary I can understand, I mean its not easy always having to be on your feet going back and forth aisles upon aisles of fabric then helping them haul it over to the front from all the way back in a corner just to cut a few yards off. Think about this for those of you who have a cushy office and a chair, haha. (3) They mean well and, for the most part, can be trusted. I accidentally left something there one day and picked it up the next day. You know, most places and people would probably keep it. No matter how small and simple it is. Furthermore, I would like to say that I mean no offense when I post this. I only mean to state my experiences here and critique possibilities of reactions. Even though people remember the bad things more so, never forget the good things and sometimes they outweigh the negative ones tenfold.

I went here to day for the first time. THEY HAVE PARKING! this is a huge plus for me. The staff was very friendly and nice to me and my little dog. I did keep him in the cart, but no one seemed to mind he was in the store. If you know what you need and how to do your project this is a great place. The prices are normal I would say. I think the discounts really come if you buy in bulk. They have 2 prices listed on the fabric. One is by the yard and one is by the yard if you buy the whole roll. For example: I bought some crème colored faux leather at $16.78 a yard, but if I needed the whole roll (17 yards, which is also written on the roll, however Im not sure how often they update this because she did not change the number after I got my 2.5 yards) I would have paid 14.50 per yard. They have student discounts and other discount days, so overall I would say this place is great. Nice selection and friendly staff. But dont be in hurry because I did have to wait a while to get my stuff cut. There were two Fashion students and a cute little White lady with 10 things of African pattern fabric in front of me lol. I ended up helping a little cause I was just standing there.

keep an eye on when the stuff cut the fabric, i bought a fabric 1.5yards, but when i back home, i found, one side 48 inches only, when i back to the store for return, the same stuff didnt happy to replace!!! There are 2 prices(original and discount price) on the fabric, i suppose it should be the discount price when i bought the fabrics, but when i look at the bill after i back home, i found they charge the non-discount price. Which is about 20-30%. I like this store, but i will be more careful next time.....

I prefer this location to the Berkeley one. It seems a tad bit more organized and I tend to find better deals here. But advice to anyone working on a project- go shopping here with a really open mind and youll find some deals and interestung fabrics, but if you have a specific fabric in mind usually it wont be cheaper than another fabric store with a coupon/sale.

I love this place, they have almost everything you can dream of with regard to sewing. Beautiful fabrics, everything is always so neat, very reasonable pricing and most importantly customer service is great. Keep up the good job Discount Fabrics!

This place is the best for cheap fabrics and notions in the SF area. Most fabrics are cheap, they have plenty of trims and elastics. It is slightly staffed so be prepared to be patient when waiting to check out or cut fabric

Have tons of variety, prepare to dig. NOT the place if you need help with your project, but PERFECT if you already know what you need. Please be polite to staff! Acting entitled will force you to wait.

Very helpful staff, and they have just about any type/color of fabric you can think of. Dont drive by it. Its in an unassuming warehouse complex with a large parking lot.

Tons of supplies. Reasonably priced. Often the staff is still in training and I find myself waiting longer than Id like, but they are very sweet.

Great for some of the sewing "accessories," such as thread, stuffing, or zippers. There are also loads of crazy fabrics in the back if you dare.
