Center hardware is a gem, exemplifying the value of a local hardware store over a big box. However much youve loved your local hardware store before, this one is a cut above. The people at Center are always incredibly helpful and knowledgable, the variety of items available is always impressive, and on the rare occasion that they dont have what youre looking for, theyll point you to the right local business to find it. So many of my projects, both home and technical, have leveraged Center as a starting (and often finishing) point. Stabila levels, Yeti coolers, and other top notch products are hiding all over the store, but youll also find bulk sandpaper and a broad range of household cleaning supplies. It can be daunting when you walk into a store so dense, but just ask anyone there. Youll find that your visits to the hardware store are quick, painless, and effective. Honestly. Just go. its a great hardware store.

Surprisingly excellent selection for a neighborhood hardware store. Very helpful staff, dont hesitate to ask for help. They may not approach you to ask if you need help but if you do, just ask, they will guide you to exactly what you need. About 4 years ago, I got my makita cordless drill here on sale, at an excellent price for one of my most used tools. They had so many options of cordless drills, it was a bit overwhelming to try to choose. I asked the staff for help and got great advice. I LOVE my drill. It couldnt be more perfect for me. This is also the best place I know to get gaffers tape, work gloves, dust masks, garbage cans, stuff for cleaning up oil spills, etc. You might think a big store like lowes or home depot would have better selection, but I havent found that to be the case.

Ive had keys copied here and they worked on the first try. Downside: they didnt have a small mailbox key and I had to go elsewhere for copies. I also needed some non-standard lightbulbs that they didnt carry (but in their defense, offered to custom-order). If you have anything non-standard, Id recommend calling ahead to check that they carry it before visiting the store in person.

Big hardware store, catering more towards contractors and institutions than homeowners & other individuals. Helpful staff, and good variety of items within the categories that they do stock. A bit tricky to walk to with the freeway traffic streaming by in front, and the parking area extending right up to their front door.

So happy to have found this place. If youre wondering what a hardware store SHOULD look like then look no further, this is the real deal. Knowledgable, friendly staff and a superb selection. Supporting a local business never felt better. Be warned, you may easily end up buying more than you went in for.

I recently moved into the Potrero Hill area where the store is located and needed some odds and ends for the house i was renting. Not only did they have what i needed, they were extremely helpful and the prices were close to Home Depot! Theyre my new favorite hardware store!

Aside from the fact that youll be followed around the store! I love their tool offerings, they have a good selection of hand tools, and hard to find items. Parking is a nightmare, I overall like the service and selection. I have come here many years! I recommend.

They have a great selection of nuts and bolts (and similar things). I needed a specialized square nut which they had in stock (for 30 cents). But I was very impressed by the selection similar items. Much better than Lowes or Home Depot.

By far the best selection of fasteners and tools in SF. It can be a bit more per item than other hardware stores, but its totally worth it, in my view, as youll make one trip to find what you need instead of many.
