So I walk through the store as a first time visitor (to this branch) looking for a spot to post up and read, work from my laptop, and scour the aisles for some books to browse through. I saw that this store doesnt have the cafe and sitting areas, only single wooden chairs at the end of the isles. People were seated both on the floor and in the chairs doing what people do at BN. I found a chair and got comfortable and began reading, surfing the internet, and browsing the books in the aisles. I was approached by a manager who told me that in order to sit in the chair I needed to make a purchase as the chairs were specifically for people making buying decisions. Now I have been visiting, browsing, reading, and buying from BN for years. I spend a lot of money on books and mags and gifts from BN every year. While another manager approached me and said the same thing that the other manager said...I did not see or hear them ask any of the other people who were doing exactly as I was, if were they intending on buying anything and if not they needed to not use the chairs. This has NEVER happened to me in ANY BN that I have ever visited. I chose to hang out at BN today rather visit the USS Midway while in SD. I made the wrong decision there. But I will not make another wrong decision by visiting or spending any of my money at a BN again...ever. I have NEVER played the race card before, but I cant help but think that the color of my skin had something to do with my interactions with the managers at this BN. One of the other non-manager employees told me that she wasnt aware of there being a policy where you had to purchase something if you sat in the chairs for any amount of time. The female manager told me that they ENGAGE all of the stores customers in the way that they engaged me, but I didnt see or hear it happening to the degree that they engaged me. So I will pack up my belongings AND NOT MAKE ANY PURCHASES TODAY OR IN THE FUTURE. BN us probably headed toward an end such as Borders so they are applying sales pressure or maybe it was the color of my skin.

This has got to be the smallest Barnes & Noble I have ever been to. Service was horrible when I was searching for a book. There was no one around to even help me. I had to find them and when I did they were rude and obnoxious (a group of them were busy talking and gossiping around the Nook section - I overheard their conversation). Also, you are not allowed to sit on the floor (even if you are out of the way) nor allowed to plug in your laptop. Perhaps they should put signs up to share this & provide seating for their customers. There were multiple people sitting on the floor and they had to go one by one to tell each person it was not allowed. Ridiculous!!!! I will not be back to this location ever again!!!!!!!

After 12pm this place sucks!!! Customer service is a negative !!! I waited 20 minutes for some help and no one came... Cashier called for help twice!! Makes no sense at all. Thought maybe they were short hand today.. But we witnessed clerks walking around looking like they were trying act busy! This place is small so it shouldnt be that hard.! Less then 15 people shopping (I counted) 4 clerks just walking back and forth!!! Ive never been to a B&N that had such poor service!! This people need to take lessons from B&N is Silverdale, WA!!! Get some customer service class and etiquette folks! You suck a big fat @":(&@"

I love a good, old fashioned, book store. Unfortunately, this one doesnt do it for me. Its quite small, and the selection is only ok. The products that I liked the best in the store were the quirky shop like items at the front that are supposed to be an after thought. Its much, much smaller than the book stores Im used to spending hours browing. Im in and out of this one in 45 minutes. As much as I want to support physical book stores, at the end of the day I couldnt find what I wanted, and the books that I could find were much less expensive on Amazon- though I hate to admit it.

I always love going into book stores and Barnes and Noble is no exception. This location is a bit small for a Barnes and Noble but still has a lot of books. Honestly though, I mainly just window shop here. Books here can be considerably more expensive here than say Amazon. Although sometimes if its hard to find, try call this place. Sometimes they have to hard to find stuff. Also the location of this one is the Hazard Center. Its notorious have having the most ridiculous parking lot. From the small spaces to the traffic, it can be a headache.

This was a wonderful time at this Barnes and Nobles, staff was knowledgeable and helpful, but not annoying by constantly asking if I need help while I look around. Also, totally nerded out in a great graphic novel section. Although I do my best to support small businesses, this B&N got me to make an exception and buy 2 novels and Moore and Gibbons` masterpiece, "Watchmen" for probably the 5th time. Nerd bone is satisfied

I love bookstores. Guess that is why I am in the book business. That being said, if you love books, you will want to live in the Strand. The shelves are long and tall and you can get lost wandering through the place. But you can find stuff that you wont find in an average B&N or Borders store. Used, New, whatever, it is here.

Very dissapointed that b and n are changing their culture. No longer a destination place to enjoy an experience and buy a book, now it is turn and burn. They even took away 90% of the seating and we were reprimanded for sitting on the floor. I am sad to say I will never go back. B and N, this is the fast track to bankruptcy!

After looking for a book on B & N website, and thrilled to find out that it was a title that is presumed to be sold at their retail outlets. Living in San Diego, CA; I was wondoring why the closest store to my house was Dallas, TX. Is Barns & Noble really just a mail order store but alot more expensive than ebay.

I love the selection and the atmosphere here. I really like the coffee shop inside The majority of the books they sell came out within the last 10-15 years, and so are glossy style, modernized and such. The prices are a bit high though, and its sometimes difficult to get help from customer representatives.

If youre looking for popular, mainstream stuff, B&N is fine. Good selection of magazines. Decent kids section. Close parking is limited, but covered parking isnt far. Parking garage is darker than it should be. Kinda creepy.
