Adams Avenue Bookstore is pure treasure. Walking into this bookstore inspires a mixture of feelings. First, understand its quaint. While size-able at two stories its not like a big box. The books are sometimes ancient tomes, lost knowledge that only you can recover by experiencing this venue. I have found treasures here that do not exist anywhere on the internet. There are also cats. Wild, ferocious, domesticated cats that will hang out with you while you read a book on the stairs. I literally have seen people lose it inside this store. Struck with awe at the reams of paper before them. Feeling the bindings in their hands, the paper in between their fingertips. The beauty of this store is from both the atmosphere of knowledge you feel immediately upon entering as well as the stellar well curated collection of information. This is a must visit for Normal Heights and the absolute crown jewel of the hidden gems on Adams Avenue. You will find something that strikes you and reminds you sometimes we need to feel the words we read.

Adams Avenue Bookstore is an absolute Goldmine. One of those incredibly rare places that still cares for the typed and written word, it houses a modest collection of books you wont find anywhere else. Two stories worth of new and used books fill shelves both tall and small. Its far too easy to settle into one of the stores fine sitting chairs, and find yourself engrossed in a topic you had hitherto not even known existed. I was especially impressed by the degree of attention paid toward the theological and religious sections. Almost the entire upper floor is dedicated to the topic and Adams even houses a small but densely packed "metaphysical room," devoted to mysticism of all sorts. Immediately, Adams has become my favorite bookstore in San Diego.

It was quaint, but very small. I was expecting to find some amazing used book stores in San Diego, but honestly we have a better place locally where I live. I cant hold this place responsible for that though, they serve their purpose, and it was a neat little place. Theres absolutely no parking to speak of and thats why I just cant give it a higher rating.

This is one of my favorite used bookstores ever! Its got such a quaint and cozy feeling to it, I just love it. Its literally a home converted into a bookstore. I love that the kitchen has cookbooks and there are always a lot of different options and new things to check out. There is also usually a sale Section near the entrance.

These shelves go on and on! Its easy to get lost flipping through one book after another. They have some great finds in here, so look carefully. I dont recommend bringing your used books here unless you just want to get rid of them. Theyll sometimes only give you a couple bucks for a whole stack.

Great experience and fantastic store. I had a few books that had been in my family for generations that I needed an approximate value of and Scott Emerson was able to provide me that information. The store is a treasure-trove of books and the cats only add to to the experience.

Ive been to this bookstore multiple times and it really is a great place to go look for books. Their business section is lacking, but their friendly cats and location make up for that. Its such a cozy place to in a fantastic location. Please go check them out.

As a lover of bookshops, its great to see this local store still in business. I love how they get involved in all of the festival event and how the space just sucks you into the abyss of books. There is an upstairs and downstairs and perusing is encouraged.

Mediocre store. Some bargains to be found here and there, but a singularly unhelpful staff. Actually were rude, unprovoked. Not the first time. They are generally not knowledgeable about the stock they hold. The owner is the exception, of course.

They really make the customers feel welcome. Soft classical music, water, and snacks provided for while you browse. Good selection of books covering all tastes. Not huge, but worth a stop. There are even two store cats!

Very good bookstore, I pass through just often enough to snag some real gems - physics, mathematics, science fiction, etc. Quite pleased there is still at least one non-mass market seller available in San Diego.
