It seems like this is a pretty good shop. I would totally give these guys 5 stars but somewhere between this store and the Carmichael one my request to have a bike built was lost!! I was told it would be ready for pick up the day after I visited the Carmichael location, since they had to call the Howe store to set the whole thing up. I called the next day to check the status and they said it was the first time theyd heard anything about it. I dont normally like to call a place to check status on anything so I dont disturb them working on my things, but Im glad I called or I would not have a bike to go pick up. They have pretty competitive prices and seem to be a good shop. But it seems like the Howe store could use some extra help, it seems like its hard to get one on one attention there sometimes. I was at the Howe store before I went to Carmichael. I needed a bike within a couple days since my car was about to be in the shop and I would use it to commute to work. The Howe store said they didnt have anything my size and my price range - Im not your typical 6 plus footer, seems there are always plenty of bikes for people those heights. I left that store and went to Carmichael, they suggested a womens bike, which is not a horrible thing since womens bikes dont look like our grandmas womens bikes used to with the dipping down bar. The crazy thing was that the bike I got sent me right back to Howe, so I ended up doing a whole lot more traveling than I was hoping to do for the same bike.

Staff was wonderful. Sterra helped me big time and made sure I was satisfied with my shopping there. The staff is great in the fact that they are all bike people. However, dont be fooled into thinking performance bike is a local bike shop in the sense that it is locally owned with a focus on customer relationships. I brought in a 9 year old house brand pump that didnt work anymore hoping to exchange it for a similar model that works. Although performance bike will advertise that all their products are guaranteed for life, they dont guarantee them, as they wouldnt exchange my non functional pump for a functional one. Yes, the pump is old, but if they guarantee it for life and will exchange it for something that works, please do that instead of explain why some corporate bean counter has to see pictures of the product and come up with a replacement value discounted for depreciation... etc. The advertising online seems to throw around the lifetime promise, but they had no problem violating their advertised promises over a measly $25, great job corporate bean counters at performance bike. The saddest part was seeing the employees read the lifetime promise to me and then talking around it as it applied to my case. Lifetime is relative to the product they say at performance, but thats only after you buy. I hope the post office doesnt explain to me how forever stamps really dont mean forever.

When I first started visiting this store, the staff were great. I dont know what has happened since then! A couple of weeks ago, I went in to PB looking to buy a commuter bike. When I spoke to the customer service representative, he informed that they did not have the commuter bike in my size "built." After, he asked me to "call ahead of time" so that he can check to see if the bike was available. A few days later, I did just that. I was told that the bike was in the store, in my size and built. So, I drove back to PB to buy the bike. Except, when I walked into PB and asked about the bike for the second time, I was told that they did have the bike in the store, but could not sell it to me! The reason for this is that the bike was a "return" and the customer had not made a final decision to return the bike. Darn! Again, I was told to check back in a couple of days for the bike. Only this time PB said they would "hold" the bike for me. Well, when I finally came back in a couple of days later (after a call confirming the bike was there), PB told me that they had sold the bike that they were holding for me! No phone call or nothing telling me that the bike was available! They just got rid of it! So, I drove to Fair Oaks PB and bought the bike there. Fair Oaks PB is much better, trust me.

I went in early in the morning and ask an associate (christ) for an adjustment of my rear breaks. He was very polite and took care of the problem while charging me 5.00 dls to adjust the cables with an allen wrench and some pliers. I thought it was expensive but I agreed to his terms. I asked for some tires that would be good for my mountain bike, though I wanted some tires that will be faster not the normal off road mountain bike tires. He suggested some tires that he had which seem to be in the clearance area, but agreed because I trusted his expertise. The total was around 75 + tax. But* when I got home, the associate that I have trusted had given me a mismatch of tires as well as the tubes that went in the tires. I was very disappointed for this and the time waisted. I called them and told them about the situation but Christ wasnt there anymore and the mechanic told me that it was fine how the tires were and the tubes even though the tubes werent the same size. I was very irritated because of the fact that I trusted their expertise and ended up not going back there. perhaps they might have good stuff that they sell but their seller are deceiving. I felt that they only care about their regular customer and not the new ones. For that I wont be going back to that "bike shop"

Bought two brand new bikes. They didnt take the time to even inflate the tires on my wifes bike before sending her off. The brakes were not adjusted properly on either bike, part of the brake was stopping the tire, not the entire brake pad being flush against the rim. The clamp that holds the bike seat was put on backwards on both bikes. My bike came scratched up on the fork (not their fault but they didnt event point out when I picked it up), and the derailleur was ghost shifting so i have to take it back one day after purchase to have it adjusted. Really nice staff, but poor follow through in servicing. Otherwise, they would be five stars.

Very knowledgeable staff. I always leave knowing a million more things about cycling then I knew when I came in. They seem to generally want to help and i have had nothing but amazing customer service from everyone in the store. I have been to a lot of different bike store and this location has been the most helpful I have even been in on a busy Saturday and they were still very attentive and answered all of my questions! Im a new customer who has bought one inexpensive on sale bike and but Im treated like the most valuable customer. I will definitely be making this my go to store for bikes and accessories.
