I cannot possibly be happier with the thorough eye examination done by Dr. James Martel and his staff!! Almost 2,000 miles from home with symptoms of a torn or detached retina gave me plenty to worry about. Using google I found several opthamologists, but none were available on Saturday. I tried Dr. Martels messaging service and within 3 hours I received a personal call from Dr. James Martel as well as precise recommendations for what I could and could not do as far as activities and he then told me to meet him at his clinic at noon Sunday! Promptly at noon, Dr. Martel cam out to greet us, then returned to dialate my eyes. The technician did numerous tests on my eyes. My husband and I went in to hear the results from Dr. Martel. He was amazingly thorough and walked us through every computer generated photo. He was quick, but knowledgeable, optimistic, and was prepared for my endlaess questions. Fortunately, there were no signs of retinal distress and I went about enjoying the remainder of the day. In addition, all.of the photos and information was being sent to my regular opthamologist back home! I have nothing negative to say about the professionalism and treatment of Dr. James Martel and his staff... I would highly recommend this facility and Doctor to anyone!!

BEWARE!!! THEY GAVE ME PINK EYE TWICE! I had gone to my doctor and he even confirmed that this horrible place gave me pink eye! They are rude and unfriendly. The optometry department is even worse! The old lady there is completely rude and unprofessional. NEVER COME HERE. You need to call them? They will never pick up. The ONLY TIME you can get them to pick up is if you call their billing department because they are money hungry, and when they do pick up, they will tell you that they are going to transfer your call AND THEN THEY WILL HANG UP ON YOU. If I could give negative stars, I would. I even had to wait 2.5 hours after my appointment time to even get my eye exam done. This is hands down the worst place you can go to get an eye exam or even glasses.

First time here, not a good first impression. Our appointment was at 1pm, we checked in at 12:55. We sat patiently until 2:10 as they called people back that arrived after us. Finally went up to the desk to inquire why they were taking other people ahead of us. They replied that there were two docters seeing patients and we had three people ahead of us still. We sat and waited until 2:40 and finally was called back. Warning! Go to this place only if you have the patience of a God.

Over my 3 appointments, I waited 2.5 hours+ each time. Bring a book, or bring a pillow for a nap and PLAN AHEAD to wait. This review does not reflect the care that was recieved, Dr Martel is knowledgable and helped me recover quickly. I appreciate this Dr Martels willingness to take in ER patients from Sutter, but I feel that they are constantly overbooked and need to correct this matter. Great care aside, my time is valuable and should be respected.

martel handled me like an inconvenience and that he had better things to do, at any time before or after the procedure of removing an embedded piece of metal from my eye did he say i would need a driver. martel applied a patch to the eye he had removed the piece of metal. he was extremely rough and the process was very painful. my eye site was very limited and hit an on ramp guard rail and nearly had several other accidents.

I went to Sutter Hosp.ER for an emergency detached retina He was the Opthomologist "On call". He didnt bother to come in to look at my eye which I was now blind in ... Instead was given an appt the following morning at his office ..only to be told he did not accept my primary insurance nor my supplemental insurance plan. I fee he was very negligent for not coming into the ER to examine my eye!

If you are going to contract with California Childrens Services, please teach your front office staff about it and let the patient be seen. 5 phone calls, and I still dont have an appointment because they cant seem to find the referrals. You are my only choice, step up and take care of your commitment to CCS patients.

Dr. Martel was able to diagnose an eye muscle condition that was previously overlooked. He was very patient with me and didnt dismiss my problem like the other ophthalmologist I had before. I am incredibly grateful to Dr. Martel and his staff. I would recommend him to anyone!

The resection administration is horrible. The young laddy at the front desk its unfriendly and it looks like she want u do all her job. But the nurses and doctor are good they was fast and friendly.

My son had an emergency, was seem promptly. Each follow up wad on time, & pleasant. Dr got called into surgery, but staff called me right away. It Happens..... definitely recommend Dr James Martel

Worse than going to the DMV. Atleast there when you have an appointment you are seen relatively fast. Had an appointment and waited for 2.5 hours and still no dr. Waste of time
