While at the Orange County Fair, I was stopped by a man working at a booth conspicuously marked with the Verizon name (Operated by "A Wireless"). Because I was a Verizon customer, I was asked to spin a wheel which then made me the “lucky” winner of a “FREE” tablet. My first question was “Is there a monthly charge for this?” The answer was no. That was a LIE. I reluctantly gave my Verizon pin number to the fast-talking salesman so that he could review my data plan. He then proposed to change my old data plan in order to save me $40/month. That was also a LIE. A later investigation revealed that he did not change my data plan at all. At the time, we were in somewhat of a hurry as a fair concert was 25 minutes from starting. Although the salesman said he would need 10 minutes, he jammed us up for 25 minutes. Therefore, I left my wife to finish the transaction so I could ensure our place in line. The salesman charged her $48 stating that it was the tax on the tablet. That was a half-lie. It turns out that $19.99 of that amount was a fee directly going to the booth operator’s pocket -- A WIRELESS. But since I was promised savings of $40/month, it looked like I would be money ahead. My wife was conveniently NOT given a receipt. The salesman put everything in a bag and sent her on her way. Here is the breakdown of the “FREE” tablet transaction: 1. Cost of Ellipsis 8” tablet @ $300 list discounted to $70 2. The Activation Plan @ $0 3. The 2-year new activation for tablet @ $0 4. The Set up and Go Plus fee @ $19.99 (goes to A WIRELESS) 5. A $70 instant rebate 6. The CA e-waste fee @$5 7. The Tax: @ $23.25 charged on list price of tablet (which earns 2 stars out of 5 stars and currently available from Verizon for $79.99, not $300) And what was the final cost? My first monthly bill went from $160 to $220! For your information, this included: • Data Service Activation @ $40 (I am currently paying $50/month for data. What’s to activate? Yes, the $40 is a one-time charge). • Tablet Line Access @ $10. (Don’t forget, we were told there would be NO monthly charges for this tablet.) • Total Mobile Protection @ $9 (We DID NOT ask for “total mobile protection”) The worst part is that I don’t need a tablet. I called Verizon to reverse this scam. The Verizon representative told me that they have a “worry free” return policy for the first 14 days and to take the tablet to any Verizon store. However, my local Verizon store would NOT take the tablet back, and told me to go to the retailer where I purchased it. I didn’t have a receipt, so it took some research to find them. The salesmen at the County Fair were evasive about who they worked for (A WIRELESS), but I tracked them down to a store front at “The Outlets at Orange”. Here’s how the “worry free” return policy went: The salesman was courteous, but charged me a $70 restocking fee. To my amazement, he also kept the aforementioned “Set Up and Go Plus” fee of $19.99. In conclusion, my total cost to get out of this scam was $90 bucks. A WIRELESS is a deceptive and unscrupulous business. Do not deal with them. After being scammed, I would highly recommend going to a Verizon corporate store for any transaction. Or better yet, go to reliable and honest Costco where you’re not going to be scammed.

This dealer is horrible and shady, and Omar, the manager, will intentionally mislead you in order to get his salespeople to weasel more money out of you, he also doesnt seem to have more than a basic grasp of what his job is and no knowledge of Verizons workings. I came in for my upgrade and was told to come back another day, which I did, as we went through, I was told that I would be getting a bundle (tablet, phone, and some accessories) for a rather nice price, but it turned out Omar had no idea when he could give upgrades and had me come in the wrong day. He then told me to come on Saturday and hed hook me up. So I return today at 1230, and Omar isnt there, so another salesman looks through my info and as it turns out Omar was "wrong" (I think he intentionally lied and had me come back when he wasnt there, and couldnt be called out on his shady dealings) and I could not get the bundle, but instead was expected to pay $50 more than than the bundle for ONLY the phone. Of course, I refused and was told to come back at 2 to see Omar. Not there. Told to return at 3. Not there, I waited 30 minutes and he still wasnt there. So I left. This Verizon store is horrendous and manipulative, I could not, in good conscience, even recommend this place to people I hate.

Unscrupulous, dishonest and fraudulent. Do not trust anything they tell you. Do not do business with them under any circumstances. They are very pushy and hide fees. Upgrading a cellphone shouldnt feel like dealing with a used car salesman but this is what they are like. I complained to Verizon about them and Verizon was nice enough to to resolve my issue. I hope Verizon revokes its sales relationship with them. I told Verizon that these guys are dragging Verizons name through the mud with them.

Worst experience ever. They lie just to make you buy their products and are not reliable to what they say. Came in and was lied into a new phone with a new contract knowing that later it wasnt what they had told me, especially on the bill.
