This is a story about PetSmarts associates banfield hospital Well horror story my dogs life was taken yesterday at this hospital and though they could lend me the money to put my dog to sleep in payments they couldnt lend me the money a day and a half to get my dog better or to run test I would have even have adopted her out if they would have fixed her and I couldnt afford it but instead I was told my dog was sick Wich was obvious thats why I brought my dog in on there free exam flyer they sent me then they told me how much it was gonna cost to find out whats wrong cuhz she had a temperature and the day before she was puking and the day I took her in she was pooping blood Wich is why I took her in either way when I took her in they automatically hooked her up to IVs they said just to keep her hydrated then they got her fever to come down but wouldnt run any test or do anything for her unless I payed them up front money so they came in trying to find different ways to come up with there money asking us to borrow money or some other way if we can think bout it tried having us sign up for multiple programs to help pay for our dog to just get tested and helped when they realized they wasnt getting money out of us they told us how we already owe them for services so far and that they dont know whats wrong with my dog Cuhz they cant do test cuhz I cant pay for them so they wouldnt feel comfortable releasing my dog to us cuhz they dont know if she is in pain since I didnt pay for there $200. Test so we now had no choice but to let them lend us $200. To put her down or to pay them now some money and they will try and save her I loved my girl dog she was best friends with the cat and everyone I know loved her she didnt deserve to get murdered because I didnt have there money to save her I know if I would have taken her home I could have got her better instead I lost my sweetheart all these people worried about was getting paid not my animal but of course since I dont have money no one will even care about what they did to my dog either RIP Shorty I am sorry I lost you due to being broke I would have never took you there if I knew I wasnt gonna get you back please dont shop or give business to this place or its associates give shorty some kind of justice its probley the only justice she will get banfield killed shorty cuhz I didnt have money to save her and they wouldnt let me take her home to try and save her PLEASE get the word out about what happened to shorty she was seen yesterday April 26 at banfield hospital in Ontario on 4th st. ONE START IS TOO MANY!!! I took my puppy (11 week Toy maltipoo) to Petsmart to be groomed (puppy wash) 3 days later I had to take my puppy to the vet (Banfield) because his ear smelled funny and he kept scratching at it, well come to find out my puppy got an ear infection because the groomer got lots of water in his ear. A few weeks later I brought My puppy back to Petsmart groomers and paid 45.00 for a haircut , I asked for a trim and a wanted his facial hair to be rounded (teddy bear face ) I showed the groomer the length I wanted on the display Mat she had laying on the counter . 3 hours later the groomer calls back and tells me My puppy is ready to be picked up and says "I had to cut his hair little shorter then we discussed because he was a little matted on his back legs" (Im thinking ok no big deal) I go to pick up my 11 week old puppy and his coat was completely shaved down to his skin!!! I mean PEACH FUZ!! I was so upset . A few days later I noted My puppy was coughing and sneezing , My husband too My puppy to Banfield were he was diagnosed with an upper respiratory infection, (kennel cough) My puppy isnt around any other dogs. Im livid , I call Petsmart and speak to a Manager my the name of MARTY, I explain my dissatisfaction and I ask him how often the kennels are cleaned out and he adamantly tells me theyre sanitized every night , I said "Just every night " he says "Yes so maybe when you brought My puppy in it was during the day time and he could have gotten it from a dog who was in the same kennel the previous infected dog was in" (mistake) After I gave him a piece of my mind and schooled him on sanitation (kennels should be cleaned after each use ) All Marty had to say about his sorry lazy NASTY groomers was "Im sorry you feel that way have a good day" and he hung up in my face!!! Im currently writing a formal complaint to their corporate office.

This was my first experience with PetSmart PetsHotel. My two dogs stayed here four nights. One of them had medications to be given. PetSmart was given explicit instructions, both verbally and in writing (twice), on the administration of the medication. The employees did NOT follow the medication instructions and gave my dog too much of the prescription. Needless to say, I am extremely upset about the care my dogs received. There could have been irreparable harm done to my pet by this negligent administration of medications. On their last day of boarding, my dogs were to be groomed. Both of them were groomed earlier in the day, but were NOT returned to the PetsHotel after grooming, which means they spent the whole day locked in a tiny cage at the grooming salon instead of back at their "suite" in the hotel. When I got them home, both dogs gulped down an excessive amount of water, as if they had not been given water all day (which they probably hadnt been, since they were stuck in the grooming cages). I called to speak to someone at the PetsHotel, was put on hold three different times, told that someone who was authorized to administer medications would look up my information and call me back, and did not hear back from them all day. The next day, I called and spoke to a “manager” who assured me that an employee with knowledge of the situation would call me back “first thing” the next morning. That was 2 days ago and NO return phone call. Overall a very distressing experience with this PetSmart PetsHotel boarding facility. Would NOT recommend.

Our pet(s) have stayed previously without incidence, however on this last trip, we arrived at PetSmart to pick up our dog to find him barely able to lift his head, lethargic and in distress with breathing, coughing and walking. PetSmart seemed oblivious to his condition and never attempted to contact us or our emergency contact regarding his condition. At first we thought it may be simple "saddness or depression" from being away from home. When he appeared to be getting worse over night, we took him into our vet to find he had contracted "Kennel Cough or Bordetella" during his stay at PetSmart. He received a injection of antibiotics to kick start his treatment, as well as two additional antibiotics to take twice a day for 7 days to start; possibly longer if necessary to get him back to normal. In addition he has lost over 3 lbs. and they let us know he hadnt had a bowel movement in 2 1/2 days. Why we werent contacted or our emergency contact called, we dont know. We are very disappointed with the condition of our dog as well as the apparent lack of concern for our dogs well being. We understand things do happen, dogs are more more "stressed" and taxed when boarded, but the facility should be more aware of the condition/health of the animals while they are in their care. We though being at PetSmart, they would be extremely cautious and concerned, especially since they have access to vet care. Apparently not. Cancelled our reservation for the next day care with this facility. Cant afford the cost of Boarding, Day Camp and then Vet bills.
