I recently shopped at Luckys in Novato for my birthday party and was impressed with the customer service. I was making a big pot of clam chowder and when i went to the check stand, I felt like the clerk really took an interest in what i was making. she asked questions about the recipe and was friendly and pleasant. The young lady at the bakery was patient with me as i picked out my cake. I ordered it and the next day when i picked it up, i could tell she took great pride in her work, and for good reason. It was the most delicious store bought cake I had ever eaten. My guests LOVED it. While i was at the bakery, another clerk was taking fresh sourdough bead out of the oven. When i told them about the clam chowder, they suggested i purchased the bread so I did, three loaves. I’m so glad, because i had a wonderful party, in part to the fact that all my needs were met at Novato Luckys. I always get a good feeling from the clerks and I like the way things are run there. It feels like a real mom and pop shop. i like trader Joe’s for their specialty items, but i only do small shopping there. the bulk of my shopping will be done at Luckys even though the fancy new Safeway is closer. Thanks Luckys!

Walked in last night around dusk. The wind was mild, but I walked in with my stocking cap from CVS ($7 for headphone beany) tight on my noggin. I bought grass fed beef and chopped tomatoes, guacamole. I talked with a few folks (My checker another customer the bagger and a manager) . I was positively impressed with the delightful demeanor (a little strained for one bagger). The food was very good. $12.51 for a very healthy dinner. The store was bright, warm, and the music low. I walked out, warm in my cap, listening to Shadowfax on Pandora. I continued walking home a couple miles, enjoying the darkening deep blue sky that framed my view of Mt. Burdell and Big Black ridge on a chilly dry evening.

Theyre a chain store, with all the corporate evil that suggests, but they generally manage to stock the things in their sales circular--unlike Safeway down the street. No stupid "club savings", but genuinely lower prices than the ahem competition. And theyre not buying out all the little mom n pop outfits, also unlike ahem. We made a switch, and we prefer Lucky.

Customer service is always outstanding! Each employee is so helpful. Ive lived in Novato for 50 years and Ive always looked at Lucky as setting the standard for the good old-fashioned customer service old-timers like me expect and appreciate.

Cashier smoking outside entrance then goes in and handles our food. Not good! Another cashier who rang up my items was very unfriendly. Lucky market in Novato needs some serious help.
