Horribly rude staff! I came into the store on 11/26/2016 and asked the woman at self checkout if I could purchase stamps through self checkout, she advised I could if I was buying other items. I went and grabbed the two other items I came in for and went back to self checkout and began ringing myself up. The woman was gone. I pressed the call for help button. When someone did return to the self checkout, instead of asking me what I needed, the guy just glared at me. I asked him for stamps and he told me that I had to go to another register. I told him what the previous employee had said and he said one minute and walked off to help someone else at another self checkout register. At that point, I told this employee if he wanted to give me bad attitude an no service I wouldnt buy anything and I walked out. As I was walking off I could hear him rudely saying what.

Every time I go to this Safeway location at night, I have to push a cart through a store-wide maze of restocking boxes and other random items left in isles by the employees. Some isles -impassable! After navigating a mess of a store, I regularly find a line of other customers waiting to check out. With no employee in sight, I wonder why this problem occurs every god damn time Im in there. Finally, I push a full cart up to the cashier and she tells me: "sorry our credit and debit machines are down." Just. Shoot. Me! I moved away from Palo Alto because this kind of poor service that has become indicative of businesses in this region. (Menlo park Safeway seems no better). Luckily the Safeway stores in my North-Bay region are much better, otherwise I was going to be ready to stop shopping at Safeway.

This is THE WORST Safeway I have ever been to, which is unfortunate because it is in a great location and the store itself is nice. I have given this location 5 separate chances to redeem itself, but every time I have visited it has proven to be EXTREMELY understaffed and the employees do it seem to care. There are 2 of the maybe 10 registers open at any given moment, with lines snaking back into the aisles. Do not visit this location unless you want to waste a minimum of 30 minutes standing in the checkout line.

I dont understand the high ratings. Probably fake. Often out of items like bread. Safeway advertises short lines, but that is false advertising. They are usually long even with unused registers. After 9pm there is normally one register open, two if you are lucky, but they both will have 10+ people in line. The bathrooms are NASTY! Urine on the floor every time I have gone in there. And generally filthy and in disarray.

This is one of those fancy new Safeways and it shows. Not only does the store look great on the inside they also have a very good selection. While I have mixed feelings about their organic offerings I am very happy to report that they have an awesome bulk section that includes granola, tea, and dry goods. The dry beans here are an especially good deal.

Standard grocery store. I really like some of the checkout line clerks, but the lines can be really long, and the store feels a little cramped towards the front. Theres not really enough room for people to queue in the checkout line, they end up spilling into aisles, which makes it difficult to traverse the store near the front.

I like that its always open. The selection is decent and the store is clean. They are always understaffed, so its not a good place to run in for a quick item. You will have to wait in line. It can be hard to get their attention at the sandwich counter, too. The staff is all friendly; I just want there to be more of them.

This Safeway is the usual clean and efficiently run food store as all the Safeway stores Ive been to. However, this store also has an immediate care physician available and we needed it on our last trip to Mtn View. The physicians asst was professional and handled the problem perfectly.

I enjoy Safeway meat department the past they have one for tri-tip ,porterhouse steaks, T-Bones Market steaks fantastic hamburger I couldnt say anything better about this meat market here is wonderful check out with Nick all the clerks. I guarantee your satisfaction

Great selection and reasonable pricing. The hot foods are delicious (love the fish and seasoned potato wedges) and the cakes are always fresh. Kudos to the bakery staff - they are always willing to help personalize a cake and always do a brilliant job!

In the evenings, the lines are always completely unreasonable. Its not unusual to spend 30 min - 1 hour in line. I, as well as many people I know, prefer to shop elsewhere for this very reason. Youre losing a lot business until you fix this.

This is a great Safeway. I really dont like shopping at Safeway, but living in San Mateo, theres really no were to shop. Whole Foods is to expensive with my budget. But the Isles are wider. They have so many choices. The clerks are friendly.

Like the MEGA safeway. Way better then the scrub Bailey park safeway close to home. Everything is actually in stock and there are a bounty of checkers waiting to help you or the self checkout is always open. Farther away but worth the drive.

I love this store but have an urgent question and cannot figure out how to post the questions that we answer...who asks them? Anyway my question was do they have public restrooms? Because everything else in this area is closed at night.

Clean, updated Safeway. My only gripe is they arent proactive in bagging my groceries, I usually have to bag them myself. Also, the checkout lines are long. The pharmacy is great! They stay open late and are open on the weekends too.

Would give 5 stars for overall quality of the store, prices (on sale) and 24-hr convenience but lines can get long, even late night hours, so having many check stands arent any good without enough staff to open them up!

Well maintained Safeway with Redbox kiosk. The staff are generally very friendly and helpful. Checking out can take awhile of you need to use a cashier, as they often rely on the self check out lanes for many shoppers.

Because they permanently block the isles with boxes of cookies or something. I hate it. Do they think they are slick and we are all going to buy more stuff because we have to wait. It just makes me go down less isles.

Brand New Safeway. Parking in the lot in front can be tricky but dont be afraid to go up the additional parking ramp up top to make finding parking much easier. Very nice location but it can get extremely busy inside.

Perpetually understaffed with insanely long lines. The long lines drive people uncomfortable with basic technology to the slow, dated and glitchy self check out lines. Frequent stock-outs even of basic items.

Graveyard stockers (not the cashiers) are totally idiots. They are absolutely clueless as to what is going on. One clerk even asked what am I doing in the store saying that the store is closed. Really?

Very clean and well stocked Safeway. Unfortunately the parking it is a bit cramped so be weary of drivers who arent as aware of their surroundings- otherwise a nice upgrade since the previous Safeway.
