Usually I would not write a review about my grocery shopping experiences because I dont expect people to deliver quality service and most of the time nothing stood out to be worth writing about. Today was different. The lines were long at all 4 registers that were opened. I was 4th in line with my baby in a stroller and a pregnant lady (at least 7-8 month) was in front of me. Things were moving along slowly but fine until 2 more registers opened and they (the employees at the new register and a man facilitating the customers) started diverting the people at the END of our line over to the new registers. I was getting mad because it was absurd for us to stand there and watch more people at the end of our line get escorted over the the new registers. The lady in front of me already had her stuff on the counter and I didnt want to have to fight the crowd to push my stroller over and have to wait behind 3 other people at the new register who were originally waiting behind me in my line. So I continued to wait in my line patiently. Then another wave of customers lined up behind us and the lady in front of me was now paying. It was almost my turn when that male employee came up to the customers behind me and told them they could go to the register that just opened up. ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!! I couldnt take it anymore and had to give them a piece of my mind. ITS VERY FRUSTRATING To WATCH THESE EMPLOYEES NOT USE COMMON SENSE AND JUST CONTINUED TO PULL PEOPLE AT THE END OF THE LINE OVER TO THE NEW REGISTERS. YOU NEED TO SERVICE THE PEOPLE IN FRONT OF THE LINE FIRST. ITS COMMON DECENCY AND STANDARD PRACTICE AT MOST AMERICAN STORES. TEACH YOUR STAFF THE RIGHT WAY TO SERVICE PEOPLE. WE DESERVED TO BE TREATED FAIRLY. p.s. If youre looking for quality fruits and produce, try Sprout, much better prices and customer service.

Really rated at 3.5 stars. As far as Asian supermarket go (and Ive been to plenty both here and in Asia), its just meh. Only reason I consistently go here is because they are the closest. They do carry a wide selection of Chinese staple goods and many essential American products as well. You shouldnt have any problem finding any ingredients save the most obscure. If given a choice, Id rather goto Marina in Cupertino on a daily basis, as selections there include a huge variety from Taiwan. 99 Ranch goods are almost all from China. Also prices for packaged goods are significantly higher across the board. They have a bakery and have a full service food department that sells dim sum, noodles, and Chinese BBQ all at very affordable prices. The tellers are fast and efficient but be wary during peak hours as it is slammed and lines can get to be 6 people deep with NO express lane. Full service meat and seafood departments. Live fish and other seafood. Tons of Asian vegetable varieties uncommon in American supermarkets.

This is my complaint to Santa Clara County District Attorneys Office. ------------------------------------ This is about a fraudulent practice that 99 Ranch may have been engaging for a very long time. The total amount of this specific transaction may be insignificant. But Im afraid a good number of customers fall victims of this fraud daily, and this could been going on for years!! When I bought the fish and opened the fish for cleaning at home, I found a lot of foreign matters stuffed in fish, apparently to increase weight. Normally, customers have the fish cleaned at the store as it is offered as a free service. That is why this fraud can go under the radar for so long. There is no point for me to contact the store. If I do, at best they would just refund to me the $6.86 and nothing will ever change. Im filing this complaint to let them know this land still has rules of law. 99 Ranch should not get rewarded for cheating customers. I have photos and receipt as proof.

As a chain, the Ranch 99 franchise sucks. It is always more expensive than other Chinese markets. As an individual store, this particular Ranch 99 sucks even more. Parking is horrible (shared with Nob Hills and Marshalls). The produce selection here is smaller (and more pricey) than at Lion City and Marina Foods. The meat counter and seafood department look pathetic. Dont ever buy any seafood you intend to eat raw here. To get better meat and seafood, go to Nijiya nearby (on El Camino and 85 in the same complex as Smart and Final). For better Chinese vegetables, head for Lion City in Santa Clara or Marina Foods in Cupertino.

1. Deli food is not really fresh and its taste remains to wish better taste and quality. Belt fish is hard. Chou men is sticky. Meat is heavy of bones, etc. 2. Different kinds of meat are taste the same, as marinated in sweet sause and taste is not really delicious!!! It does not give eaters of trying of different variables of flavors!!! It would be good if to have some of kinds of meat to be roasted or grilled with different flavors of marinades. 3. Fresh fish does not taste like fish when I cook it at home, I have no idea with what it was fed.

Standard American Chinese supermarket. veggies wife and I like coming here for specialty veggies, desserts, pork and duck products, and some other add-ins for dinner. But, like I said pretty standard American Chinese market. Get your suspicious, but fresh veggies. Get your live or recently butchered seafood. Pick-up some roasted animals and their subsequent parts. Buy pastries and other delights. While youre at it, get your cooking and serving implements. For what it is, it works perfectly well.

This is the only place close enough to my house that carries Chinese produce, so being Chinese Im kind of stuck with this 99 Ranch. I like that its got a huge selection of items, but I never buy veggies and fruits here (except for items I cant get anywhere else) because theyre just not very fresh. The good news is Nob Hill is right nextdoor so I can grab fresh veggies and fruits there. Nijiya (the Japanese supermarket) is also right around the corner, so its quite convenient.

You come here to get your Asian goods...not for a friendly conversation. Although I have noticed that the employees here are a bit nicer than other 99 ranch locations. Aisles are narrow, so you WILL be squished into a corner when people with oversized carts carrying 2 items pass without paying attention as to who or what may be in the way...but hey, you will more than likely find what your looking for and be out within a few minutes!

Great place for Asian groceries, though they are REALLY overpriced on some things. I like getting produce I cant find in a regular store. What I thought was terrible was the fried tofu. I tried quite a few and they werent cheap. All were terrible! I do love their eggplant but wish they wouldnt pre-bag it since some in the bag were a little bad (in every bag, actually). LOVE their pre-bundled basil!

This is really clean and fancy inside compared to other 99 Ranch locations that Ive been to. Resist the temptation to guy immediately to buy dim sum items, because when you check out with your groceries, theyll give you vouchers for a few bucks at the deli. Otherwise, its the standard 99 Ranch experience -- cheap produce, endless Asian ingredients, smells kind of fishy inside, constantly crowded.
