I went to get my bike taken apart and packaged for the drive home from college. I traveled over the summer and when I had the bike put back together that fall, I found they had given me the wrong bike. When I called them and let them know what happened, the were aware of the situation (but of course, hadnt called to try to rectify it...why would they do that?). Rather than shipping me my bike, they said I had to send back the incorrect bike first. Okay, no big deal, and I suppose I understand why they would want that bike back first (though it was probably worth a good 400$ less than my bike, so I didnt have much incentive to keep it). What seemed a little weird was that they made me front the money to correct THEIR mistake. Again, no problem, I expect that when a business screws up that theyll make an effort to correct it. After sending back their mistake-bike back and including a receipt for the money I had to spend as well as a note explaining the situation and asking that I get a call, I had to call them to verify they received the bike. I wondered why they hadnt called me when they got the bike, but by then their problems with communication were becoming clear. Anyway, they said they would mail my bike that weekend. That was fine, but when I called the next week on Tuesday, they reportedly had been "pretty backed up" and so it had only gone out Monday, but I was assured it would get to me within a week. This was two months ago. Where is my bike, Jax? After about 30 phone calls over the next month and a half - not one of which they ever returned - and a handful of bizarre and dishonest-sounding excuses -"we dont write down/have access to tracking numbers"...really?- I still dont have my bike. To their credit, on about the 31st phone call, I FINALLY got someone their to give me back the hundreds of dollars that Ive spent correcting their mistake. I asked again when my bike was going to arrive, and he apologetically told me that it would arrive - again - within the week and that he would call me midweek to make sure everything had gone well. That was two weeks ago. No bike. No phone call. Bottom line: while the specifics of my situation could be fairly rare, unless some manager decided at some point that they just didnt like me or the situation, there is a pervasive culture of incompetence and ambivalence toward customers*. If youre able to make it more than a few blocks from the Claremont Colleges when you need work done on your bike or something, itll probably be worth it. Every beautiful day of summer that goes by without my bike makes me regret the day I gave them my business even more. Stay away from Jax. *looks like another review found a similar communication problem

OK, about me, 40 y.o and a heavy set guy.. Have not ridden in about 25 years Went in with my wife for a bike. Figuring best way to start. Upon entering, i was looking around for a few minutes, when the manager Ben walked up to help; Yes they were a little busy, but being a business owner, I know good, quality customer service is really important and Im not an impatient person. After really getting into an area that I had no clue, He was answering my questions(about 30 minutes worth of them) and I was gaining some serious knowledge about what is right for what I am trying to do, get in shape and enjoy riding. I proceed to purchase my bike. I cant tell you how refreshing it is to have customer service like that now a days. I was so impressed that I am going back to get my wife a nice upgrade on her bike. I would definitely recommend the shop.. Ben, Thank you. Jonathon is also somone I have to recognize too.. Great guy and he knows his stuff too..

"Being that I commute 7 days a week on bicycle it is very important that I have a reliable go to shop when I need a quick repair" I highly recommend Jax Bicycle Center in Claremont!! I had a pedal seize up on me last month, and about 4 miles into my weekend Holiday ride heading to upland on a Coaster/Fixie. I called from the side of the road, and thank God they were open!! On a Holiday!! Finally made it to the shop 20 minutes later after half cranking back, and fourth the whole two an a half miles back tracking. I was blessed with the pedals I needed. Still new hand me downs from a very kind Mt. Biker buying cleats and clip pedals. Thanks again Bro! Also wanna thank the shop with all their help with a blow out I had a week ago, They got me back on the road, and off to work!! "Jax Bicycle Shop is RAD!"

I had been in the marker for a new road bike for about a year and had been test riding different brands. I went to a few local bike shops here in my area. I found Jax online and went to them. I must say that their attention to detail was much more than I had expected. I especially enjoyed the fact that Jason, (I believe that his name) actually got on a bike himself to make sure that he could answer any questions that I may have as I rode. And did I ever. All the other LBS I went to never offered this service. It was pretty much I while hold your license while you ride our bike and that was it. I was sold and bought my Trek 2.1 from them. I was looking to get a Bianchi but when I returned to Coates to purchase it, I waited 30 minutes to be helped and nothing. Jax was was way beyond great. Thanks Jax.

Brought my bike here for new tubes, new tires. Guy who helped me was nice enough, and the work was done quickly. However, my brakes were misadjusted so the blocks didnt connect with the rim--which I discovered while riding home when the blocks slid off repeatedly. These guys sent me out on a bike without front brakes? Are they crazy? Further, the tube was put in so both valves were angled into a spoke--there was no room for a pump to attach to the valve in case I need to inflate the tires. An hour and a half later in my garage with a wrench, and I readjusted my brake blocks and reinstalled the new tubes and tires so the valves are at 90 degree angles to the rim, allowing inflation. Im no bicycle mechanic, but Im better than at least one of the guys here...

called the shop with 1 hour of time before they close... told us it was not a possibility of Changing an inner tube... we were out on a trip without proper tools or I would have changed it myself then. There was no attempt at making an effort to help... Not saying this is a bad place or their services are bad but I guess I will never find out. Its the little things that matter and make a difference. I ended up going to the Pomona indoor Swapmeet right before they closed and they were fast low cost and made us the "customer" feel we were worth their time. They even stayed after the "closing" time to finish the job, so pleased thay I had zero problems buying some accessories
