Ace hardware is the only hardware/home repair store in California City and they abuse that position. The prices here are unbelievably high (ie. a bag of mulch costs nearly eight dollars here and the same bag cost three dollars at the home depot in tehachapi). Quality of merchandise is sub-par (almost every plant i have bought from here has come with a nice helping of larvae and beetles squirming at the bottom of the cracked plastic pot and all of them have died). Thier shelves are never restocked (the same used and re-wrapped skil-saw has been sitting on the self for few years now). And, thier service is horrible (everyone has an attitude and makes you feel stupid if you have a question. One girl/woman reigns supreme. She is a cashier, shes a brunette, tall, and ive had the unfortunate luck to get stuck with her every time i go there. She is rude and arguementative. If only i knew her name.) This store is terrible, i recommend any and everyone going to the Home Depot in Tehachapi. Its a longer drive, but every plant i have bought form there lives, the people are always friendly, and they merchandise is always maintained.

So whoever that guy is saying how bad Ace is said a mouth full. And that mouth was full of TRUTH! This is, by far, the worst hardware store i have ever gone to. The employees are rude, EVERYTHING is over priced and all the merchandise is sub-par. One more thing, turns out the guy that owns this joke now has a position in the city council. The city council decides what will be built in the city. When the city buys stuff, they buy it from Ace. THIS IS CORRUPTION PEOPLE! This man needs to be thrown out of city council and the whole city needs to have city council dissolved to make room for people that actually know what they are doing. Maybe have the county come in and do some real work instead of the small town, bumpkin yahoos that run it now.

Can be expensive. Most people who live here have little money and no cars. There stuck here. Why doesnt the city council tear down the empty homes that are burned and dangerous. There are a couple pyromaniacs and curious kids cuz kids will be kids. But dangerous. Everyones getting old and they bring in like minded people to there group. A few more years younger people will have to be welcomed

Clerks are quite rude there especially the woman who does the Propane. Told me to carry my own tank. Today she was snotty again. Why woman take these men jobs then dont want to do mens work. Have to go to Mohammed for Propane now its 25 cents cheaper at Cal City Appliances on Ca City Blvd down by the Texaco Oil place

If I could give less than 1star I would.. The girls in there dont know the difference between a swamp cooler and a window AC unit... I got sent out front twice when I asked for window AC. I know more about hardware and home maintenance than these teenagers...!!!!!!!!
