They dont know what theyre doing. I went in to get my industrial pierced and they gave me a bar that was to short (it has to be longer so that i fits the swelling) which prevented it from healing. Went in again to get a longer bar-- I asked them to give it to me for free b/c they screwed up and the guy at the counter faught w/ me for a while, tried to make excuses then gave me another bar for free. THEN i got the new bar put in and it was good for a while until the gold-like coating on the jewelry wore off (this happened w/in a month or 2 of getting the new jewelry)-- once the coating wore off the jewelry they sold me badly irritated and eventually infected my ear-- which caused me to lose the piercing. Also, I went into several tattoo/piercing shops back home and talked to piercers and they told me that they cleaning material that Industrial sold me was bad for my ear-- they also mentioned that it was unprofesional and slimy to sell cleaning material-- most places give you the stuff for free. Emu oil and the clear cleaning solution they gave me shouldnt be used for industrial piercings -- just salt H2O soaks. I went to Zebra b/c Im a Cal student and they were close and had decent yelp reviews at the time. Theyre not very good and you shouldnt get pierced somewhere b/c its convienant. Sacred Heart is much better-- and if youre getting a piercing thats difficult to heal do some research and make a trip to the city-- there are much better shops in SF than in dt berkeley.

I have to say that when I first walked in, I didnt know what to expect and was half expecting the stereotypical tattoo parlor that wasnt particularly clean, etc. It had all of the funky skull and crossbones art and jewelry and purses... But in very good taste and they had some very pretty jewelry too. Upon getting my ears double pierced, I saw that they were very clean, and Im very picky. I also have never had my ears pierced without a "gun". This experience was soooo much better! The artist discusses placement, marks the location, gets your approval and then manually pierces your ear. Because they dont use a gun, they can manage the angle of the piercing exactly and there is no loud "clack" of the piercing... its quiet and painless. I never had one bit of pain in healing either. They were very thorough with their instructions. My daughter also got her ear cartilage pierced and she agreed that it was amazingly painless after all of the stories she had heard from people who went elsewhere. I was pleased with the experience and highly recommend them for your piercing.

I got my lip piereced here many years ago and never had an issue with them. I accidently snagged me lip and ransomly my lip swelled up. I came in Christmas eve and they were closed but the owner was nice enough to allow me in and get my bar switched out even thought they were closed he didnt want me to wait until Monday such a nice man he even gave me a discount on my bar since I only had 15 dollars cash. The piercer guy was nice as well answered all my questions and reassured me that my lip was just bother. Next day my lip was already back to normal and I havent had no issues besides that now my bar is to bug but I will be going back to get my original bar placed back. Definitely recommend this place for piercings.

Amazing experience! I would definitely recommend this place. I was extremely nervous about getting my first tattoo. I called around to different places to find out what they offered, checked some reviews online and found Zebra. I called Zebra and explained that it was my first one and that I kind of knew what I wanted. He offered me an appointment for the same day. I get there, the place is very clean and lots of notices about the latest news and information about cleanliness of tattoos and piercings. Kenny was the artist who helped me. He was very knowledgeable and very helpful. He was funny and made my first experience awesome! I loved it! Thanks, Kenny!

Im not sure if these reviews were before or after this place got a new piercer but they definitely dont deserve a 4 1/2 star rating. The woman that is piercing now has stabbed the inside of my nose while i got the outside of my nose pierced and put in the wrong sized ring into my friends lip and had to take it out and re-pierce it. Both piercing did not heal correctly and will be re-pierced by a trained professional. I will never be returning to Zebra Tattoo & Body piercing. At least i can take out a piercing; good thing i didnt get a tattoo from there, they obviously are not picky about who they hire.

My friend and I went to get piercings, and our experience was awesome! I got a rook piercing, and it was super clean and safe and quick. The piercer was extremely informative of the safety precautions I would need to take with this piercing. My friend got her belly button pierced, and, like some girls do, she passed out afterwards. The piercer not only lifted her up and put her on the table, but she feed and gave her drinks when she came to! This is the only place I will return to get pierced in Berkeley! Awesome staff, super clean, super safe.

I had gotten a piercing done at a different shop and was in a lot of pain since I had suspected my previous piercer had put in bars that were too small. I was a nervous wreck and sure enough it was confirmed that the bars were indeed too small. I was given some tips on how to diminish the scar tissue and now its finally beginning to look how it should. Im no longer in pain and due to the larger bars the swelling has gone down and my piercing is beginning to heal properly. Thanks for saving my piercing ♡

Went in April to get my navel pierced. After I paid and picked out the jewelry, the wait was short. The place was really clean and nice. The only problem I had was that the piercer (Rosey) put the jewelry in upside down. Caused a lot of issues afterwards because the ball would unscrew and fall out especially when working out. Had to constantly check my navel to see if my jewelry was still in. I ended up flipping it after a few weeks. Still dont understand how it happened.

Amazing staff- the nicest people! I went in with 3 friends, we were all getting tattoos (one was getting pierced) one had an appointment but me and my other friend were able to just walk right in. They did a fantastic job on everyone! Our tattoos turned out looking perfect. This was my first tattoo and it was amazing to have kind, welcoming, wholesome people to help with the experience. I do hope to come back here someday and I would recommend it to anyone!

Me and my sister came to just changed her nose piercing. And we came in at 4:30pm and we are her still at 6:28pm. And still havent been seen. I feel like on the weekend they should have two people doing piecing and another person changing piecing. It should not take almost three hours to change a damn piecing. I understand its busy,but we shouldnt be waiting hella long. I love this place,but it should have better customer service. Came in 04/30/17
